Gorgeous little Gigi!

I'm really enamored with Gigi. When I saw the turquoise color option I couldn't resist her, and I'm glad I gave in because it turned out to be a wonderful purchase. She's elegant, versatile, and worth every penny.

Use

The Gigi was my first luxury vibe purchase and is easily my favorite vibe so far. It's small, discreet, and really quite beautiful in design. It's designed as a g-spot vibe, but it also works great as a clitoral vibrator (as well as nipples and any other erogenous zones). The flat portion of the head provides a broader area of stimulation, or you can flip it around and use the tip/edge of it for more pin-point stimulation. Another way to use the Gigi externally is to use the backside to slide up and down across your clit; the vibrations get stronger the closer you get to the tip of the toy, and the silky material feels great. One of my favorite things about this vibe is the multi-speeds and multi-functions. They added variety makes play more fun, and even if you don't like all of the patterns, there are bound to be at least two that you enjoy. The handle is very comfortable to hold onto, and it fits comfortably in my hand. It makes trying to target the g-spot easier, since it's not awkward to hold and maneuver.

Gigi is great because it's perfect for a beginner or an advanced user that is looking for a compact yet versatile vibrator. You can use it alone or with a partner. I find that Gigi works great as a clit vibe while using another toy internally. Because it's so small and easy to hold it doesn't get in the way if you or your partner uses it on you during sex. The controls are easy to get to, and the way you hold it doesn't take up much more space (if any) than using your hand, so it worked fine during more cramped positions like missionary.

Material / Texture

Gigi is made from hard plastic that is covered with silicone. This toy has no flexibility, from the base of the handle to the tip of it. If you press your thumb into the edges of the head you can feel a little give, but it's not extremely squishy. It makes using it internally a lot more comfortable than if it were bare plastic. The benefit of it being rigid throughout is that it does a good job at applying pressure--it's going to stay where you press it. There isn't a strong smell to it, nothing overwhelming or toxic. If you put your nose to it you smell a faint scent of the silicone. It doesn't taste like anything, so if it's used while performing oral it wouldn't add any unpleasant taste. It's also non-porous and phthalate-free and latex-free.

This toy is extremely soft to the touch. It's not sticky at all, which I've found happens with some silicone dildos. Since this was my first silicone vibrator, I was somewhat concerned about it dragging or sticking, but Lelo designed a great toy. It feels very silky and smooth when slid over any area of skin. It's fun to use for teasing a partner before turning the vibrations on. There isn't any added or intense texture to it, so it's perfect for a beginner or anyone who likes smooth toys.

Design / Shape / Size

GigiGigi sideview

I absolutely love the design of this toy. I found it to be user friendly and not intimidating at all. The design is small, sleek, beautiful. Because of this I think that it's perfect for a beginner who's trying to find their g-spot. Be aware that the design might not work for everybody though. It's short, small, and thin, which can be a pro or a con. The upside is that if it doesn't end up working for your g-spot, it still performs extremely well as a clitoral vibe.

Despite the fact that I haven't achieved g-spot stimulation with it as of yet, it's my favorite vibe. It's my go-to travel toy because it's easy to pack discretely. If someone accidentally got a glimpse of it they'd probably be able to guess what it was (especially if they have any knowledge of, or experience with, sex toys), but it's so classy and pretty that I doubt I'd even feel embarrassed! However if you are more shy about this kind of thing, it shouldn't be any problem to avoid an awkward situation. It comes with a pouch that ties shut, and it's small size makes it fit it small pockets (like hidden or inside pockets on bags/luggage).

It's also discrete enough to use when staying in someone else's home, or when you have guests staying in your home. With Gigi on the highest setting without any background noise, my girlfriend couldn't hear through the closed door even when standing right outside the bedroom.

The size dimensions are (according to my own measurements):
Length: 6 1/2"
Insertable length: 4 1/2" to 5" (the 5" takes you to just above the control pad)
Circumference: 3 1/2" (the head/tip of the toy has a 3 3/4" circumference)
Diameter: 1 1/8"

Functions / Performance / Controls

Gigi has multi-speed and multi-function vibrations that are strongest at the head of the toy. Even though that is where the vibrations are focused, you can feel them down the length of the toy. Yet they're not strong enough in the handle to make my hand go numb.

controls

The controls are easy to use and access, located on the front side of the handle. The pad on there forms a circle, with the right and left buttons controlling speed and the up and down buttons controlling the patterns. You turn it on by pressing the + button, and turn it off by holding down the - button. A great feature of this toy is the lock feature. You can lock it by holding down on the center of the control pad for five seconds. This is also how you unlock it. If you need to turn it off in a split second (say if someone starts to walk in on you), you just press down on the center of the pad and the vibrations stop instantly, rather than the few seconds it would take to use the - button. It would be nice, however, if it was also able to be locked while on, so there was zero chance of accidentally changing your setting during play.

It has five functions or patterns. The first is a steady vibration. Then you use the up arrow to cycle through the other patterns. You have to hold the button down for two seconds and then release in order to switch to the next pattern. This is nice because it makes it harder to change your pattern accidentally. Once you've changed patterns you can use the down arrow to go back. The functions are:
Up once: short slow pulses
Up twice: faster pulses
Up three times: rapid pulses
Up four times: wave pattern (vibrations go from soft to strong, and repeat)
The steady vibration is the default setting when you turn it on, and the one it resets back to once you've turned it off.

The level of vibrations are great, you can get anything from a really light vibrations to quite strong ones. The highest setting isn't as strong as some other vibrators, I'm sure, but I find it to be really effective. It's not super surface buzzy, or so intense that it makes you go numb (which is the WORST), so it's great for longer sessions. Yet it's strong enough that it does the trick even on my least sensitive days (I find that I'm less sensitive to clitoral stimulation during my period, so achieving orgasms can be harder or less enjoyable).

Care and Maintenance

This toy is easy to take care of. You can use toy cleaner, or just use a washcloth with water and a mild soap to clean it after each use. There is a metallic plastic band that separates the silicone covered end from the handle, and lube and other fluids tend to get caught in the groove between the plastic and the silicone. I've read that this can be a bit of a hassle for some users, but it doesn't bother me very much. I just get a washcloth and do a little extra scrubbing. You probably want to avoid getting it too wet, or at least make sure moisture doesn't get into the control pad or charging port on the bottom. As with most silicone toys, it tends to collect lint, dust, hair, and all that good stuff. It's not very hard to clean off, but I make sure to put it away after each use to help keep it clean. I don't really like having to stop and clean a toy before using it, it's much more convenient to be able to grab it and get down to business.

Gigi with bag

It comes with a satin bag that has a cinch top to tie it shut. I store it in this bag, inside the box it came in. The box is discreet an has a tray with an impression of the toy that it sits in perfectly. I'm thinking about removing the tray and just using the box because it could probably fit Gigi along with another similarly sized toy.

Since this is made with silicone, you want to stay away from silicone-based lubes, so as to avoid any bad reactions with the material. Stick to a water=based lube with this, and any other silicone toy.

Packaging

Gigi comes in a box that has a picture of the toy on the outside. Once you remove the outside packaging you get a matte black box, with Lelo pressed into the top. When you open the box you find Gigi in its satin pouch, on top of a tray made to hold it. Under the tray is the charger, instruction manual, information on the one year warrantee, ten year quality guarantee (you need to register it on lelo.com though, so make sure you do that!), and a one-use sample of Lelo's lube.

Experience

I haven't been able to successfully stimulate my g-spot with Gigi, which I think is due to the location of it (I've had a bit more luck with larger, bulbous toys), and also might be because this toy is rigid, with no give. Even though it's not flexible or squishy like a jelly material, it's not painful or uncomfortable (I just have to be careful not to be too rough when I'm using it for penetration). I'm not going to give up trying, though, because it could just be due to user error. Despite my unsuccessful attempt to hit my g-spot with it, I'm not disappointed by this toy because of how versatile it is. I can still get a variety of external uses out of it, and it does a good job at them. As I've said earlier in the review, it's great for partner play. I prefer using it with my partner over the bullet vibe that we have because it's easier to keep it where I want it, and it doesn't make my hand go numb.
