Crystal egg - vaginal balls discontinued by Nectar products - review by Red

This Crystal Egg is pretty cool - beautiful, quality, polished stone that shines like mad, fitted with a plastic retrieval cord for easy retrieval and hanging other weight. It's not *too* heavy and provides a nice amount of resistance for doing kegels. This Egg is not recommended for wear during sex, because the plastic retrieval cord is very stiff and sharp and generally no fun when worn during vigorous activity.

This egg is made of rock, which is of course by definition crystalline. I gotta say, however, with a name Like Crystal Egg, I kinda expected a pretty crystal one might imagine being a pendant sold by a vendor on a busy shopping street. This is more like granite or something. Nice, sure, but just rock. Rock Egg is a little less cool sounding than Crystal Egg, but hey, it's more accurate.

Semantics aside, stone is a nice sex toy material. So hard. So smooth. So...So slow to adapt to temperature change - which makes it extra fun to warm up under hot water (or cool, if that's your bag) for a bit of temperature play fun before you get into kegeling.

The egg is the size of a typical cooking egg; 2" long and 1.5" wide. It's heavy for its size, as stone is wont to be, but is nonetheless small and so it weighs 0.3 lb which may be insufficient for some. Overall I found it's dimensions to be excellent for insertion and removal - in fact, this Egg is perfect.

Except.

The retrieval cord? It's HORRENDOUS. Like, severely severely inappropriate for even a cheap sex toy, let alone something as elegant as the Crystal Egg. The cord is a loop of flattened plastic that is very stiff and kinky and SHARP of all things. Terrible.

The cord is meant to be a retrieval cord, but can also be used to hang outside of your body and tie off a bag of marbles, if that's your thing. I mention this because the Crystal Egg includes directions for this very thing - you're supposed to use the included storage bag. I suppose it's a good way of adding some serious weight to your kegal routine and might be very appealing to someone looking to buff-up down there.

So the Egg is great. Really cool. Perfect size and shape for nice kegel resistance.

But.

I really wish it would have come without the nightmare of a retrieval cord, I really do, because I would use it often. But as is, the cord and thus the egg is not welcome in my body. It hurts. If I wind it in smoothly around the Egg, I sometimes get lucky, but mostly it just hurts. I have a really tough vagina too - I love crazy texture on glass - so I'm not being a wuss. I am considering clipping off this cord, but I think it might make very sharp little 'stubs' where it's cut so I have held back so far. Bah! What a bitter disappointment. Why put such a piece of crap cord on such a beautiful Stone Egg?

The Crystal Egg just needs clean up with warm soapy water and drying off before storage. It can be used with any lube you please, but do take care to carefully clean out any lube or debris that could get caught around the place the retrieval cord connects with the egg. If the egg loses its sheen, as it will in the slightly acidic environment of the vagina (hey, it's a fact, no big deal) it can be polished back to a shine with some oil.

I am giving this toy three stars, despite the fact that I don't like it very much.
