I couldn't believe this came from Anne Rice

I was highly surprised I stumbled upon this book. It was an amazing find and a brilliant read. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys erotic experiences and reading.

About author

I must be out of touch with Anne Rice's work, I thought she was a very innocent writer. After reading this, I have a whole new take on her. She doesn't mess around, she gets right to the good stuff. I ended up reading 5 chapters before accepting the fact that Anne Rice is an erotic writer.

Content / Style / Audience

This style to me (I could be wrong though), comes of as an old Renaissance feel. It is not written in all "modern" language, which I appreciate. However, it is not hard to read like Scarlet Letter or anything. It is brilliantly detailed and gut-wrenching. I had all my five senses engaged at all times. If you like erotic fiction, you are going to love this story. If you like BDSM, you'll really love this story (especially if you are into spanking).

Design

The book is kind of flimsy in soft cover. I use my books pretty hard so I bought a digital copy so I could read it more discreetly. However, the soft cover book was not terrible. There was nothing all that special about it.

I like how this book kept me in suspense and it wasn't at all like I thought it would be.

Experience

My boyfriend really got a kick when he found out what I was reading. It inspired him to do a little BDSM play since I was so absorbed in the book and not paying attention to him.
Follow-up commentary
I still read it on occasion to give me inspiration for sexual escapades. I noticed someone asked how this book might be offensive, I recall several times in the book people get whipped for no reason and/or spanked until they bleed (one of the rules in the book is if they draw blood they must stop). I thought that kind of brutal only because I personally would't want to be spanked that hard or be that scared.
