The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice is not your average fairy tale. It is a tale of domination, punishment and submission. This tale is the first in a three part series. The book is two hundred and fifty pages. I found that it was a quick and easy read. I first read this book when I was in middle school and I did not get the eroticism in it. Luckily, I found this book on here and decided I needed to read it again. I am so glad that I chose to read it again. This story is not for everyone as it does have some items that may be offensive to others, some might even suggest that Beauty's awakening in the beginning would be likened to a rape. I feel that it is not but just as a warning to some who may be sensitive to that subject.

I liked that the book is not pure sex and punishment. It has a story that is enjoyable from the moment that Beauty is awoken, she is subject to humiliation and intense domination. The prince is intoxicated with her innocence and spell binding looks. He takes her to his kingdom, nude, where many other prince and princesses are treated alike. They are there as tributes to the kingdom and each one is submitted to domination and punishment. There is a lot of spanking and some sexual situations. Beauty does get some intense pleasure from her captors and from other princes. The ending does leave you wanting to read the next book.

I think that this is a good book, but I wish that it was all in one instead of three separate books. I like Anne Rice and her writing styles. I think that this story is still a nice little spanking-lovers dream. I hate that it is so short and it could be a bit more descriptive but I still read it.
