I want to first start off with how much enjoyment I am getting from trying different products from the afforadable DONA line. While I am not an obsessive lip balm user, I’ve been looking for a product that will help moisturize and protect my lips. Maybe even an uplifting and sensual feeling to boost my mood. The Dona Plumping lip balm, by System Jo, is an aphrodisiac infused lip balm created for moisturizing and plumping your lips. The price is available at a regular price of $4.99 and frequently goes on sale which can make this deal even sweeter.

This lip balm is available in 6 aromatic flavors:

-Blue Lotus: An Egyptian water lily known to provide a relaxing, euphoric sensation and bring heightened awareness and tranquility. It is said to strengthen the bond between couples

-Acai: A berry that comes from the Amazon. It contains anthocyanin which is an antioxidant known to reduce cholesterol and has the potential to prevent blood clots (acai has ten times the antioxidant potency of red wine); one of its most notable effects on the body is a marked increase in stamina.

-Camu Camu: A fruit found in the South American rainforest known to be a rejuvenator. It contains more natural Vitamin C than any other known botanical on the planet; camu camu is energizing, mood-lifting, and strengthens your immune system.

-Goji Berry: A berry that is native to China and contains an exceptional level of vitamin C (among the highest level contained in natural plants). It enhances both male and female libidos; as people age, their testosterone levels drop, reducing sex drive; intake of goji berry increases levels of testosterone.

-Pomegranate: A fruit native to Iran; sometimes known as the "forbidden fruit" in the Bible because of its strong sexual stimulation. It contains a lot of antioxidants that keep the skin young and give you energy and vibrancy and fight fatigue.

-Mangosteen: A fruit believed to have originated in Indonesia. Rich in fiber, protein, calcium, potassium, and vitamins; a powerful anti-oxidant that has anti-inflammatory properties and helps stimulate vitality and mood.

To be honest, I’m not sure if the “plumping” effect works as I’ve never used a product designed to do as such. If it was to make my lips appear to look and feel larger and luscious, this balm didn’t do that for me. This lip balm does give a slight tingling sensation when applied which fades shortly after balm application. I did find myself having to reapply this lip balm several times through the day as it did wear off fairly quickly.

Dona Plumping Lip balm has a thick texture which is not exactly “smooth” in the tube. However, when you apply the creamy lip balm, the texture does smooth itself out if that makes any sense. It’s hard to explain how the texture feels while applying. Maybe, a soft beady feel like you would find in a bath bead infused body wash?

I urge caution when storing this lip balm in your pocket and it is already “mushy” and can melt where heat is applied. I had briefly had this problem and after leaving it on my desk overnight, it returned to it’s original state. I did have to clean around the cap with a paper towel to remove the excess balm.

When you apply the balm, it’s a thick and smooth texture. One might think that a thick layer of balm would be sticky but, it felt slicker on my lips than I expected.

Several consumers are raving about particular scents so I chose the Blue Lotus which seems to be popular. To me, Blue Lotus has a pleasant sweet, and almost fruity aroma.

By searching the internet, I came across a brief description of where the scent “Blue Lotus” originates from. As I mentioned in the previous scent descriptions, Blue Lotus is an “Egyptian water lily known to provide a relaxing, euphoric sensation and bring heightened awareness and tranquility. It is said to strengthen the bond between couples.”

There was no taste to this lip balm, I can honestly say that I licked my lips several times in hopes of finding even the slightest taste. This balm smells amazing, almost good enough to devour!

This balm glides on in a thick layer so a little does go a long ways. Due to it’s consistency, if it is applied generously, the product can be used up quicker than other traditional lip balms. I did have to reapply the balm several times throughout the day as it lasted maybe 20 minutes before my lips felt like it needed more moisture again. It does absorb quickly into your skin.

It feels nice on your lips and the tingling sensation wasn’t uncomfortable. I might have been a little concerned if I hadn’t read the reviews on the products beforehand as I wouldn’t have known about the sensation.

My favorite aspect of this lip balm was the scent. Scents occasionally provide a calm feeling for me when inhaled. This scent is pleasant and I’m a little disappointed that there wasn’t a flavor to enjoy while licking my lips.

The Dona lip plumping balm arrived in a traditional looking black tube. It resembles that of a lip balm you may purchase in a department store. The colors were soothing and fit well with the name of the scent. A lighter sky Blue tip with a black background on the body, and white writing.

When the tube arrives, it is not secured inside of it’s own packaging. However, they did put it in a plastic bag with another Dona product. It is sealed and peeling back the top or twisting the cap is simple. I did have an minor issue with my label falling off the day it arrived. If the label stays intact, it is discreet enough to carry and use on the go.
