Lip Balm Addicts, Rejoice!

I am a self-professed lip balm addict. I buy it constantly, and I'm always on the lookout for delicious new products. And this pomegranate plumping lip balm by DONA (previously System Jo) is some of the most amazing lip balm I've ever encountered. While the plumping effect isn't incredible, the taste, scent, and feel of this lip balm is so wonderful. It provides a wonderful light tingling sensation, and while this may not be best for people with chapped lips or cold sore outbreaks, I find it quite pleasant. With ingredients such as Olive fruit oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, shea butter, castor seed oil, jojoba seed oil, vitamin E, vitamin C, honeysuckle extract, and more, this is a thick, creamy, nourishing lip balm that will make your lips feel smooth, sweet, and sexy.

The texture of the lip balm, to me, is amazing. It's nice and thick, not synthetic feeling, and with a little bit of a "grit" that I personally find nice. It almost provides a sensation of exfoliating. The thickness means that it stays on for a good long time (I've found I can almost go an hour without reapplying), and the feel never gets tacky or sticky. The natural ingredients mean that this is a very gentle lip balm, which, as someone with sensitive skin, is a definite plus for me. The overall texture is a bit of grit up front with a very creamy, thick after effect.

The taste of this lip balm is not strong at all. In fact, I'd wager to say that most of the "taste" is actually an effect from the strong smell. The smell is a very strong pomegranate scent, which is really very pleasant. I actually prefer lip balm to be tasteless, as it keeps me from licking my lips and drying them out more, so the lack of taste is a plus for me. However, if you prefer for your lip balm to taste really good, you probably might like to skip this one.

The performance from the DONA lip balm was extremely impressive. Normally on me, lip balm lasts between 15-30 minutes before I either want to wash it off or reapply more. I have sensitive skin, and strange sensations normally bother me. But the initial light tingling and remaining creamy texture of this lip balm lasted for at least an hour, and was overall extremely pleasant. I liked the smell the best. It was nice to be going about my business and then suddenly catch the aroma of pomegranate. It absorbs into the skin of the lips nicely, and does provide (in my experience, at least) a very mild plumping sensation.

The packaging of the DONA lip balm is very, very aesthetically pleasing. The tube is a dark brown/black color, with pale pink lettering. It's extremely classy and sophisticated looking, and nothing about it screams sex. I actually shared it with my mother and she was none the wiser that it "came from a sex shop." It comes in a traditional "chapstick" type tube, which is convenient and travels well. No instructions came with the product, but it's (in my opinion) very self-explanatory. The container does not leak or run, and it's been one of my favorite lip balm containers I've seen. The sophisticated look makes this a nice gift. The only thing I would advice against is keeping it away from water, as the label does not seem to be waterproof.

Like I said, I am a lip balm addict, and this is one of my favorite products I've ever used. It smells incredible, feels amazing (and very sexy), and would be a great addition to any makeup bag. I highly recommend it.
