The Hitachi Magic Wand was suggested to me more times than I can count. My fiancé and I just got in to sex toys in the last year and we were searching for a way to help me reach orgasm during sex. I had never been able to orgasm with another person, only alone. I bought this hoping it would be the answer to my prayers. It was.

However, it took some getting use to. The first few times I used it, I went solo just to get some confidence. I had an orgasm the first time in under a minute. Shocking. I used it a few more times with varying degrees of success because it is so powerful. There are 2 different vibration settings; one is very intense and the other is more moderate. After incorporating it in to partnered sex, we have found that it is the only toy that allows me to orgasm during sex. I use it to stimulate my clit and not only am I now able to have orgasms with my fiancé but I learned that I can squirt too! Combined with the Lelo Isla, I am in heaven. There is some bend to the neck which is nice and even when I have used it pretty hard and made it bend, it has not broken. It is long, heavy, and large so positioning it during partnered sex, especially clitoral stimulation can really take some practice.

We have used it near daily for 6 months, sometimes more than once a day, and it is still going strong. However, if it is used for too long it will get very, very hot. Often all it needs is a rest for a bit but if someone were to not notice or ignore it, it could lead to a very serious injury. The other two issues are that the cord is pretty short, and the Magic Wand is LOUD especially with the attachments and when you apply pressure. We have a toddler who sleeps in bed with us and so we have to get creative during sex by using other rooms in the house. Having to be right near an outlet sometimes hampers that creativity and we usually have to use the guest bedroom and have both doors closed so that the noise does not wake her up. The cord length is nothing an extension cord cannot solve but still, a frustrating issue.

In addition to the toy, there are a good number of various add-on extensions. We have three and they are all great. We do not use them very often but there isn't anything wrong with them, that's just a personal preference. I think trying the non-penetrative ones would be a good idea for me and I will be sure to write an update as soon as I do that. As a non sex toy, the Magic Wand is great for muscle massage. Its power is intense and I have used it on sore muscles with great results. Overall, this is my most highly recommended toy and it is especially awesome for solo sex or bondage situations.

The Magic Wand is quite heavy and I require two hands to get the pressure I need on my clit. The texture on the head seems to be a bit porous as it is not completely smooth. It is hypoallergenic, made of plastic, and latex free. So the safety is pretty high (8), although not the highest (10). I have no issues cleaning the head at all but it does require some scrubbing in the indentation and a good overall scrub because the surface is totally flush. There was no initial smell when I opened it and it has not retained any odd smell from daily use or cleaning. I would say that the texture and density of the head, when used too hard, can cause some soreness but that is really an issue of misuse probably.

This is a heavy, large toy. It is a thick (6.75") and fairly long (12") wand. Because of its size, it can be difficult to maneuver during partnered intercourse. I require it be somewhat upright to work for me and so my fiancé has to adjust his position to accommodate that. I use it pretty strictly for clitoral stimulation when on my back although I can manage to use it in other positions. It requires being plugged in to the wall and the cord is not very long so that also limits where you use it unless you have an extension cord.

I would say this toy is best for moderate to advanced users as it packs A LOT of power and someone who is just trying out vibrations on themselves will likely be very overwhelmed by the power. Some people prefer to put a sock or other cloth over the head to dull the intensity until they get used to it, or even for the duration of their use. Because of the size, I would not consider this toy easy to hide. We have an entire drawer dedicated to our toys so it fits fine in there but it isn't something you could pack in your purse. I also would not consider it discreet. It is pretty loud and when we use the extensions, it seems to get even louder. Heavy pressure also seems to up the noise too. It is not something I would use if you are worried about roommates in the next room or you in a college dorm situation, sadly.

There is a switch on the middle of the wand that turns the vibration modes on. Up towards the head is the high mode, middle is off, and down is the lower mode. The vibration is concentrated on the head of the toy — they are strong and intense, I mean REALLY intense. This is probably the most powerful vibrating toy on the market. I have used other plug-in wands and none compare in surface area or power. Luckily, the head of the toy is big enough to cover a good area of my clit and vaginal lips so it works very well for me. I enjoy both vibration levels but I usually require the higher one to reach orgasm. The lower level is a great primer and also good when I am feeling overwhelmed or sensitive. The controls are extremely simple to use and very straight forward. I can adjust them while I have the wand in position and rarely do I accidentally change them while using the toy. It is VERY loud, even louder with pressure, and with the use of add-ons.

I love this toy despite the few issues because it really does work for me. It gives me hard orgasms and has changed my sex life completely. I am able to squirt while using it and my partner can use it on me. It is great for teasing situations and forced orgasm or withholding orgasms. It plugs into the wall and the cord is not super long so some adjustment (extension cord works well for us) may be needed. It's nice to not have to use batteries but there is a trade-off there.

This toy is quite easy to take of. I use my favorite toy wash to clean the head, and it does require some scrubbing as the material is not totally smooth and it has a ridge but I have never really had a huge problem with it. I put the toy cleaner gel on the head and gently rinse it off without submerging or completely dousing it. The handle can be wiped down with a damp washcloth and that's it! It will discolor slightly if left hanging around the house and not put away but that doesn't affect the cleanliness (as far as I can tell, I use it every day) or function. We store it in our toy drawer most of the time but once clean, it may be left out in the living room as it doubles as a massager. We have only used water-based lube with it (put on the clit/vulva to encourage less friction) and have had no issues there.

The toy came in a very simple box that has a picture of the Wand on it as well as a woman using it to massage various parts of her body. It is billed as a personal massager, not a sex toy so the packaging is quite discreet. It does not come with a manual or directions. The box is only a bit larger than the toy itself. One could wrap the box in paper for a gift but keep in mind, it does have a picture of the toy on the outside. It could probably be used as a storage box although if you are looking to conserve space, I would just slip the head into a tube sock. The box it is packaged in is regular cardboard so it will start to degrade after much handling and moving so I would not consider it a long term storage option.
