Sprinkle Some Sparkle In Your Hair -- And Everywhere

Although I'm not generally into sparkles and glitter, the tiny scintillating flecks of mica in the Glistening Dry Shampoo and Body Powder were not overwhelming or too gaudy for me. The product brought lightness and life to my weighed-down hair, and made me feel more comfortable. I then had to wipe down my camera (from taking hair pictures) and counters, because this stuff sparkles up everything, whether you want to or not!

Use

Glistening Dry Shampoo and Body Powder is a product meant to be used between showers, to absorb excess oil, fluff up limp hair, freshen up with a pleasant scent, and add a bit of sparkle to skin and hair. It can also be used simply to add some glitter to your hair or skin for a night out or any other time you feel like scintillating!

Ingredients:

Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Silica, Caprylyl Glycol, Fragrance (Parfum), Water/aqua/eau, Propylene Glycol, Calendula Officianalis Flower Extract, Chamomile Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract. May Contain: Mica, Iron Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide.

You don't want to breathe this, because it contains silica. It's not a good idea to inhale metal oxides either. Silicosis is a respiratory disease which is incurable, progressive, and cumulative. Although the amount of silica in this product is likely minute, and you will not be exposed to a lot of it, you want to limit your inhalation of silica in all areas of life. I would not suggest using this where there is much air movement to blow it around in the air while applying, and apply it with your hands -- don't sprinkle it directly on your head.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This dry shampoo is light and airy; I could barely feel the small pile I sprinkled into my hand prior to applying it to my hair. The powder is extremely fine.

When I spread it across my skin, it felt silky. It had a very nice texture. In my hair, it felt light and did not make my hair clumpy or dusty.

This stuff gets everywhere. It's so light that the powder settles onto everything, and after applying it on my hair, my hands were just as shimmery as my hair and arms, where I'd applied the product. The sparkles on my skin did rub off onto my clothes -- and also got on my camera while I was taking photos (luckily not on the lens!), despite my being careful. Of course, some powder does get on the container when sprinkling it out, so expect it to shine up your boudoir or bathroom as well. It washes out of clothing very easily, however, and wiped up quite easily with a damp washcloth.

Taste / Aroma

The Glistening Dry Shampoo and Body Powder has a pleasant, light, sweet scent, reminiscent of baby powder, lemon, and vanilla. The smell is not overpowering, though strong in the container, and is quite light once applied. My tastes in scent generally run towards brighter citrus and earthy smells, but I found the smell very appropriate for a "freshening up" product, and was glad the smell was not too strong, as strong smells tend to give me headaches.

Performance

I absolutely abhor the feeling of my hair when it's unwashed, but know it's not good for my hair to wash it more than once a day. I hate when it feels weighed down and flat. My hair is not particularly oily, but after a day without washing it, it feels unpleasant.

I have very short hair, with longer hair in front of my ears, and most of the reviews with pictures for the Cake dry shampoo products have been by people with long hair, so I was curious what it would do, appearance-wise. My hair is extremely fine and straight.

I was worried that the product would cause my hair to clump as it absorbed oil, or give my hair a dusty appearance. I was pleasantly surprised that it did neither! It fluffed and lightened my shortest hair the most, with less effect on my longer hair. The best part? It actually felt lighter and less icky.

I used it in the morning, after sleeping on my hair all night had made it dull and slightly stringy. After applying it, my hair was noticeably fluffier, less heavy, and the sparkle was very nice -- no heavy glitter, just tiny flecks of gold to catch the light. I don't feel that the sparkle was too gaudy, another thing that made me wary, as I'm generally not a glittery type of person. However, the tiny amount of "glisten" on my hair was not too in-your-face, since the particles of mica were so small. Indoors, in poor lighting, it's very subtle. Outside in the sunshine, it was much more apparent.

I also used some on my arm to see how it looked on the skin. The sparkle effect was much more noticeable to me there. It might be a bit too sparkly for an earthy girl like me to use on my skin, particularly somewhere like my face, but it was kind of fun, none-the-less.

Unfortunately, the shimmering effect on both my skin and hair proved impossible for someone of my skill level to photograph. However, I think the product's other effects on my hair were more evident.

Packaging

The cylindrical can that the dry shampoo comes in has its own sparkles; the whole can flashes in the light. It has a very girly pink design. It has a crimped round part that is meant to be punched in to open the can for the first time. I did have a rather hard time breaking through the plastic; I ended up pounding it with the business end of some closed scissors. Be careful if you follow my example! The top has two pouring options; a large round hole for pouring, or several smaller holes, for sprinkling. You twist the wheel on top to align the chosen option over the hole you punched out.

The lettering on the package is minute, and white on pink. My poor, tired eyes, exhausted from hours of browsing EdenFantasys, had a hard time making out the ingredients list in particular, which is especially miniscule. The package does have clear instructions, which are of course quite simple, as this is a very simple product.

Instructions

HAIR: Sprinkle into your hands and run through your hair to refresh between washings. Concentrate on root area. Excess oil is absorbed leaving your tresses feeling clean and fabulous.

Now I feel I must whip back and forth my fabulous tresses.

BODY: Sprinkle into hands and rub onto body. This blend will leave you smelling fresh and feeling clean with the perfect amount of sophisticated sheen.

I do indeed feel more sophisticated, but that could just be that I used the word "tresses", and that the package also includes instructions in French, and French is one of the most sophisticated of all languages (as everyone knows).

In addition, the packaging declares, "We pour in calendula, chamomile, corn starch, natural minerals (mica)," and "We leave out parabens, talc, sodium chloride, phthalates, GMO's, mineral oil, petroleum, gluten, triclosan." I can get behind that!

As this is a generic hair product, nothing "adult" about it, the package does not need to be discreet. Nothing about the product or the packaging would indicate that you ordered it from an adult site if you chose to purchase from EdenFantasys.

I have not traveled since I got this product, or taken it out with me anywhere. I don't think the packaging is designed to do so.

If you do try it, since the sparkles get everywhere, I would suggest wiping it down first, to remove the shimmering powder that has inevitably settled on the outside and top, and perhaps stick the whole thing in a zip-top plastic baggie before sticking it in your luggage. I wouldn't trust it not to turn your whole suitcase or purse into a fairy wonderland of shininess.

Experience

Applying this to my limp, slightly stringy, "between-showers" hair, it noticeably improved the feeling of my hair, increased body, and eliminated the not-recently-washed shine, without appearing dusty or dull. The mica added a nice shimmer effect that I didn't feel was too much, despite the fact that I'm usually not a sparkling kind of person.

I will definitely use this in the future when I go out, or whenever my hair is feeling limp and uncomfortable between showers. My only complaint is that the sparkles are unlikely to stay only in my hair. I will definitely check out the non-sparkling versions of this product for more "every day" use.

Thanks for the pictures looks like it worked great for you. It didn't work very well for me, after using my hair still looked the same and still smelled the same. However I have VERY thick hair. I guess everyone is just different. This stuff does smell amazing and I love using it on my body! If you have bigger legs you can also use this between you legs to prevent chafing
