Smooth, goopy fun

Maximus is an excellent all-round lubricant. It's thick enough to use comfortably anally, while still being slick enough for vaginal use. The only time it wouldn't be a good choice is for oral sex - the taste is unpleasantly bitter. It lasts well and requires little cleanup, and doesn't have any weird smells, textures, or colors. It's become my go-to lube.

Maximus is fairly goopey: it is quite thick and generally stays where it's put on skin, but it spreads very evenly and easily. It slides a bit more on toys, especially if you squeeze a lot of it directly onto a toy. It's got a very smooth texture. While it can get very slightly sticky as it dries, it isn't sticky when fully dry. It isn't greasy or lumpy at all.

The push top bottle makes it super easy to use, just pump the top instead of fiddling around with opening and squeezing bottles. (I'm officially in love with push top bottles after this!)

It does have a slight plastic like smell, but it's hardly noticeable. The taste is extremely unpleasant, it tastes like bitter sunscreen. Ew. While I wouldn't ever use this orally, I wouldn't stop to rinse my mouth out if I accidentally ate some.

Maximus lasts quite a while. Since it's so thick, it's easy to use quite a bit of it without getting it all over everything, and of course thicker application means it lasts even longer. I spread some on my arm ten minutes ago, and only the sections that were spread reeeeally thinly are starting to dry - the thicker bits feel like I just put them there.

It soaks into skin quite nicely, I generally don't need to wash it off unless I've used a LOT - and even then, wiping it off works just fine.

One thing to be aware of is that Maximus does contain parabens, so if you've had issues with parabens in the past, this might be a lube to avoid.

I really really like this lube. It's got a great consistency and I really enjoy not having to repeatedly re-apply it, as had been the case with other lubes. The taste doesn't bother me since I never stick it in my mouth, and it's really nice to not have my bedroom continually reeking of lube. It's great to have a water-based lube that is thick and actually lasts.

Plus, push top bottle! So good!

Maximus arrived in a plastic bag (with the bottle inside, obviously). I really appreciate minimal packaging, and the bottle kept anything from leaking. All the information included is on the bottle: the ingredients, manufacturer's info, best before date, the volume, the name and a couple roman-y illustrations. No directions, but I don't really think they're necessary.
