It's Too Darn Hot

In spite of a few flaws, this wand functions admirably well. It is by no means my favorite, but it gets the job done.

Use

My boy bought the Wanachi Mini while it was on sale at a local toy shop. We have used it for some partner sex activities, but I have absconded with it for more thorough testing. It provides excellent clitoral stimulation. The vibrations are strong enough to distribute vibrations through a non-vibrating toy. (I have mostly tested this with glass and steel toys. Silicone or plastic might damper this particular effect). I also like to spontaneously attack various parts of my other half with it and watch him jump. It is a bit loud on the higher settings, but it is very convenient to use and is unhampered by silly things like cords and wall adapters.

Material / Texture

The wand has a plastic handle, flexible, ribbed neck, and a cylindrical silicone head. Since the head is silicone, one should probably avoid silicone lubes, but water and oil based ones are fine. The head has a seam around the circumference and a small divot in the top. I don't feel them when I use the toy, so they don't bother me. There is also no drag when I move the wand around. There is a faint, baby powder-esque scent that has lingered for the whole time I've had this in my possession. It's not that noticeable, but scent is not something I typically care for in my toys.

Design / Shape / Size

The Wanachi Mini has a very basic shape. The handle has a slightly graduated dent in it in order to make grasping the wand more comfortable. The neck is a flexible material that allows one to bend the head at an almost 90 degree angle in most directions. I would probably avoid bending it that much for very long. When I bend it that far I can see stress from overstretching on the middle of the neck. It hasn't caused any problems yet, but I can see where the material might eventually start to separate and break. However, the bending feature makes this far easier for me to hold in certain positions and it makes it easier to adjust the head to find the correct placement since the head is too large for pinpoint accuracy.

There is a cap at the end of the handle end that screws open to reveal the battery compartment. There is an o-ring sealing the compartment to waterproof the compartment. The end of the cap hosts a control dial that allows you to adjust the intensity of the vibrations. I find that if I don't have the end cap screwed on tightly enough adjusting the dial will cause the cap to unscrew. This has only happened a few times (usually after I change the batteries). It is stupidity on my own part and not really a fault of the toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This wand is very basic. There is a single dial to adjust the intensity of the vibrations. There are no speed adjustments or different patterns. It would probably be a good choice for a beginner. The lower half of the intensity spectrum does very little for me in the orgasm department, but is still decent for sore muscle massage. I would liken the upper half of the spectrum to the lower setting on my Hitachi, which is all I typically use on that toy. The batteries lasted approximately 5 hours. It's fairly impressive for such an inexpensive toy.

It does have one flaw that keeps me from using it quite as often. After about 20 minutes of use I found that the toy gets very hot. When this happens it makes whatever bits it might be on very unhappy. It also gets somewhat loud. On the highest setting I (and a few other test sets of ears) could hear it through a wall in the room next door. The noise isn't really an inconvenience for me though.

Care and Maintenance

This is super easy to take care of. The o-ring sealing the battery compartment means you can wash it off in soap and water or swab it down with a wipe or towelette. Only the head is silicone, so boiling is not an option, but it's pretty low maintenance.

There has only been one incident in which it was fussy. My partner and I were using this for clitoral stimulation during an attempt at fisting. We were using a xanthan gum based lube which essentially self-replicates when you add any quantity of moisture to the mixture. Trying to wash this lube off with water or even with wipes was quite difficult. Some of it ended up drying into the crevices of the ribbed pieces on the neck. I ended up having to wipe those away with an alcohol swab.
Follow-up commentary
This still works fairly well. However, the cracking in the neck that I feared would happen has finally happened. We wrapped the neck with silicone tape to seal it and the vibrator works as well as it did prior to the break. For such an inexpensive toy, I'd say we got a good value for our money in comparison to the amount of use. I wish it hadn't broken, but the repair was quick and painless.

@jedent: It's definitely not one of my favorite things about the wanachi.
    @kendra: Thank you!

You know, I would LOVE a waterproof Hitachi-type wand! I am sorry it didn't work out for you as well as you had hoped (and that you had to do a little "surgery" on it!!), but I just may have to give this a go. Thank you for the review

@(Re)tired: I'd be willing to say that I might just have a faulty one. I've not read of this happening in many reviews (on Eden and elsewhere). Like I said, it has fairly powerful vibrations and for the cost it's definitely a value. If my current wand dies, I'd probably eventually replace it just b/c it is cheap, effective, cordless, and waterproof. It's not a bad toy.

Thanks for the review. It seems to me all my toys get hot if I use them too long. I just have to stop and use another.
