Ohhh yes! Wait, what's that smell?

This corded/battery-operated massager is a powerhouse of vibrations. It will blow your mind, as long as you get all the use you need in under 20 minutes of use. If you use it much longer than that, the circuits will overheat. Total bummer. It was great for me since it's my first "wand" and I was a beginner to this level of power, but I do see myself getting another one in the future that will allow me to play with it longer.

Use

This is a miniature wand, as the name "Fairy miniature" suggests. It's for external stimulation only but attachments are available to allow for penetration (sold separately, of course).

To use it, you either plug in the battery pack (included) or use the cord to get power from the nearest outlet (and yes, it needs to be very, very near). The length of the cord on the battery pack and the outlet adaptor are both just under 5 feet long. It would have made a lot more sense to me if the battery pack cord was a heck of a lot shorter and the extra length instead when to the AC power cord.

Material / Texture

The Fairy Miniature is made from body safe, non-porous plastic. But it's important to know that it is not at all waterproof. In fact, it's not splash proof either so handle with care when cleaning. I don't recommend enthusiastic soaping in the sink because it wouldn't be hard to get water in places that shouldn't have water. But at least you can use whatever type of lube is your favorite because it won't have adverse reactions with any particular type.

And actually, the head of the massager does have a very slight smell. But it goes away after washing. And the coating on the head gives it a little drag to the touch versus the smooth, shiny plastic of the handle of the toy. Though the texture might be for beginners, the vibration power indeed is not so always start small and low if you're a first-time wand user! I certainly did!
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

The design is certainly the typical wand style - only miniature! It's awfully cute, I'll give it that. And having a turn dial versus only 2 predetermined settings gives you more variety in the power. But watch out, because this mini packs a wallop!

The head of the wand does have a slight flexibility to it, just as the larger ones have but don't depend on that alone to hit the right spot. If you need more precision in your vibration, you'll need to open your pocket book again for an attachment. Though the smaller size of the head versus the "full grown" Fairy does make it easier to fit into the body for clitoral stimulation.

For exact specs, see the main Fairy Miniature page.

And since this toy isn't phallic and actually resembles the standard "massager", it could possibly be classified as discreet. But trust me, someone will still figure out what you're using it for. After all, it's smaller than the Hitachi (which ironically was originally intended as a massager, not vibrator) and has cute little fairies on it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

"Just a little more... Oh that's nice. Now just slow it down just a bit... Oh quick! Give it more juice! Yes!"

Oh I do love the turn dial! It's so nice to so easily change the power while I'm using it! You can find your perfect level and not have to settle on one of two predetermined settings: Low and Insane. After all, life (and sex) is about choices and variety.

And though the majority of the power is directly aimed at the head of the wand, the entire thing does tend to vibrate, especially at the higher settings. It's just one more reason not to use it for more than the suggested 20 minutes.

Speaking of suggested time limits. The box only contains a small amount of instructions in English but the ones that are, are very important. When used on the lowest setting, it can be run for about 30 minutes before needing a rest. On medium, it's about 20 minutes and at high (aka insane) is only 10 minutes.

And you'll know when it's time to turn it off for a while because you'll start to smell something that is reminiscent of burning hot glue guns. I found, personally, that it kind of killed the mood as well. So if I become a wand addict, I'll be upgrading to one without time constraints, whatever it be.

If you choose to use the battery pack instead, your suggested time constraints will be a little longer because the AC adaptor runs the power about 20% stronger (though I argue it's more because the high setting is pure insanity).

Lastly, you probably won't want to count on this wand miniature for pleasure if you have company sleeping over or if you live in a dorm room or any other communal living (unless you're all close like that...). Why? Because this little sucker is loud! No, not loud. But LOUD. It scared my dog the first time I turned it on to test it. Not too long ago, I did a review for another toy that I thought was loud. Now I wish I could go back and say, "Well, no, this isn't my loudest toy."

Care and Maintenance

Wash it very carefully. In fact, I recommend a toy cleaning spray, wipe, or just using a wash clothe rather than stick the head of the Fairy directly in the sink. Water is definitely the enemy to this vibrator.

Everything else is easy. You can use any type of lubricant: water, silicone, oil, or arousal. Store however you'd like. Just make sure to unplug whatever power source from the wand to prevent it from turning on and overheating. That is definitely a fire safety concern.
    • Compatible with any lube

Packaging

The packaging for this wand is 1) absolutely adorable, pink, and fairy-rific and 2) almost entirely in Japanese. What little English is on the box is non-fluent and very "Engrish" (if you're not familiar, google it, totally worth it). In fact, I think it appropriate to include a quote from the box.

"Because this product is almost sophisticated, and designed to be build compact, thre is no protection circuit."

This is where it warns of the product overheating. Thankfully I took a year of Japanese and could roughly skim the rest of the information as well and this is the only really important detail not found on the EF specs page.

And if you take the Styrofoam insert out of the box, it actually serves as an awesome storage box for all three pieces to your wand. (Also, if not previously mentioned, the AC adaptor is included in a separate box that arrived rubberbanded to the larger box containing the battery pack and wand.)
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

Though I was a bit disappointed with the glue smell that eminated from this toy, I do find myself converted to a wand lover. I had been wondering for a while what all the hype was about with the Fairy and Hitachi and other mimics. I recommend a beginner to wands start small (or at least low) before working up to the mother size ones. They are insanely strong and will get the job done!
Follow-up commentary
Not only do I still like this wand, but I've come to love it. Maybe I just got used to it's... face? Well, I definitely learned to compromise with it's time constraints, short power cord, and difficulty in cleaning. As a wand newbie before this toy, there was definitely a learning curve to dealing with all it's needs and limitations. But now I can't get enough! It can bring me nearly to climax from a state of unsexy boredom! It's mini making it easy to hold, give pinpoint stimulation, easier to hide, and travel friendly. And boy is it powerful when using the wall outlet rather than the battery pack! Oh baby!
