Remote? Hardly.

I would probably never have gotten this product if it were not for the fact that it came as a free gift with orders over $70. Frankly, I don't think it is worth the price if you were to buy it, but if you can get it for free it could make a nice gift to add to a basket for a friend or something.

Use

I got this because I was placing an order over $70 and this came as a free gift with it, so I figured why not get it and give it a shot. I was not expecting much, and I got about what I was expecting. This toy is more of a beginners toy than anything, or a maybe for couples but there are better toys out there for that.

This egg can be used for clitoral stimulation, nipple stimulation, or really any kind of external stimulation. It can also be inserted into the vagina, but this should not be used anally - it has no base and the cord that it does have is very short and not meant to be tugged on.

This is okay for masturbation. I only used it for clitoral stimulation and I don't think it will be getting much of any use after this to be honest. As for couples play, you might think this could be fun, that your partner could be in control of it from say..across the room? Nope. In order for the remote control to work, it has to be within less than a foot of the egg. Silly, right? This is why I say there are FAR better couples toys out there. This is a toy that might be okay as a first vibrator for someone who is interested in clitoral stimulation, but that is about it. And if you were looking for something for that purpose, I would not recommend paying $28.99 for THIS. Not worth it, there is better stuff out there for less.

According to Eden it is waterproof, though I would not risk it. I am not sure if the remote is supposed to be waterproof as well? But I don't think it is, which is pointless, since it has to be so close to the egg for it to work.

I would definitely not recommend this for roommate/campus/dorm living because of how loud it is! It's not very discreet, your roommates would be able to hear it. This toy is travel-friendly, it could easily fit into a purse- just make sure you take out the batteries first so as to not end up with a button getting hit and a buzzing bag!

Material / Texture

The egg and remote have the same feel to them, and are both made of plastic, which according to Eden's material safety guide, "has a very low porosity level". It is rigid, but smooth, almost velvety. It is very stiff, not flexible at all. I would actually prefer the egg if it had some texture to it, like some tiny bumps all over it. The material is phthalates-free and latex-free, which is a plus. Because it is plastic, and not entirely non-porous and safe, I put a condom over it before using it. I would prefer silicone to plastic, as silicone is not porous at all. I did not notice any smell at all on this product.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is not very discreet, though it is small enough that it is easy to store. The egg is about 2 inches long, so it is not very big at all. The remote is about 2.5 inches long, and fits well in the palm of my hand. The egg is definitely a reasonable size for insertion, though I am almost exclusively interested in clitoral stimulation for pretty much any toy. The remote and egg both have short plastic cords attached, I assume it has something to do with the signal from the remote control. The cord on the remote is about 3 inches long, the egg cord is about 5 inches long.

I had to figure out how to get the batteries into the egg, since there was no instructions with it. That was kind of annoying, I hate it when toys do not come with battery instructions! The remote had an obvious battery opening in the back. However, I had no idea how they went in. I put them all in one direction, tried to turn it on, didn't work. Looked for instructions, or a sticker or print inside of the battery slot and found nothing. I turned them all around the other way, and it worked. After I had already used the toy, I noticed that there was a raised up design beside the battery slot but it was not clear enough to tell which direction the batteries were going on it. I took a picture of it, and had to take it in certain lighting with the flash off for it to show up at all, and you still can't tell which way the batteries are going.

As for the egg, I was worried I was going to break it trying to figure out how to get the batteries in. I tugged on the cord a bit. Then pulled on the egg a bit. Then twisted it. Then twisted it the other way, and it opened.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Once you figure out the batteries, this is easy to use. However, I think it would be better if the buttons on the remote aren't so close. I've found that it is easy to hit one when you mean to hit the other. Being that there are only two buttons on the remote, I don't really see why they need to be right beside each other.

The vibrations are very buzzy and too loud for my liking - I am certain it could be heard in the hallway, about 20 feet away through a door. Although, there are multiple settings. It claims to have 10 settings, though I am not sure that there actually are, and if they are then at least 4 of them are pretty much exactly the same as some of the others. I tried going through and counting them, but was distracted by trying to keep it quiet and by the fact that I was like, "Wait...didn't I feel this one already?" Then I would have to start over, and they seemed the same. I prefer the third vibration setting, it seems to be the strongest and is a strong steady buzzing. The rest are kind of weak, which can be frustrating.

I made a video of the vibrations, just so you can see for yourself. I really couldn't tell the difference, and could not count 10 vibrations.

The remote needs to be surprisingly close to make this work...like, within 6 inches. Not kidding, it has to be closer than 1 ft. However, I did notice that I can turn it on from several feet away using the remote, but then I cannot turn it off or change the setting, which seems silly. I'm thinking that is a product flaw of some kind.

I have not used it for enough to find out how good the battery life is (and I doubt I really will use it again). However, I do not expect that the batteries last all that long. Plus, it takes 10 batteries?! TEN?! There are generally 5 or 6 watch batteries to a pack, and they cost about $3-6 dollars a pack. That'll get costly, just to keep this running! I was surprised by how many batteries this takes! Luckily, it comes with 10 LR44 batteries. The remote take 4, the egg takes 6.

Care and Maintenance

The package does say this can be cleaned with soap and water. I would use peroxide and water, personally, since it is somewhat porous. A toy cleaner or toy wipes would be fine for cleaning this as well. This can be stored easily, since it is plastic and I don't believe it would interfere with other materials. The box is not the best to keep it stored in as it is kind of bulky, but I supposed you could if you wanted.

Packaging

This packaging is not very informative at all. I had to go back to the Eden product page to see if it was waterproof (which apparently it is), and anything else I really wanted to know about it. The box is definitely not discreet, but I couldn't help but laugh at how some of the things on it were phrased. Like, "SEX TOYS BRING MORE EROTIC PLEASURE TO THE WORLD!"
    • Not discreet
    • Recyclable
    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
I've had this toy maybe a week and I am already disappointed. I pulled out all my vibrating toys that I use and set them by the bed, and was playing with each of them, looking for the right one for the mood I was in. I though that this egg might have a setting that could be perfect! I took it out, hit the button...nothing happened. Oh, maybe the remote was too far away from the egg! Pull remote right beside the egg, hit the button...nothing!I had only used it maybe twice, could it already be broken? I washed it with soap and water a day ago, after using it...could that have really broken it?!

I decided to wait a day, come back to the toy and try again. This time, I hit the on/off button hold the remote practically on top of the egg and it went on. Then I hit the settings button, to turn it higher to the one setting I like...nothing! No change in setting, nothing happened. Got frustrated and hit the on/off button, nothing happened! So basally, this toy is not really worth it after one or two uses. And I have to wonder if washing it with soap and water had an effect, even though I made sure that the egg was sealed tightly, and came back to clean between the seal after.

My new opinion on this is that cleaning may be a hassle, and it may just stop working. Not a great toy at all.

I just placed an order today and when I tried to click on the link to add this to my cart, the link wouldn't work. Not EF's issue, mind. I'm certain my iPhone (I ordered from work) was being difficult. It kept thinking I was trying to download a photo. I finally gave up. Now that I've read your review, I no longer feel I missed out on anything. Thanks for reviewing!
