This Russian Torpedo Didn't Sink Any Ships.

I am not impressed with the Torpedo. I think it is cheaply made and has no directions for battery installation. The vibrations are powerful and lead to some good orgasms, however battery changing has me using other toys. Good free toy, but I would not spend any points on the Torpedo.

Use

The Russian Torpedo is an inexpensive and low quality alternative to the pocket vibrators. It has a nicely powerful motor, but falls short in other areas. I used this as a clitoral vibe and teased my husband in some hot sensory play. The Torpedo will stimulate the clitoris, nipples, external anal area and other such sweet spots. I can see men, women and couples trying this vibe out with their sexual play, but it needs to be improved before it becomes a must have for anyone.

The torpedo is primarily a masturbation or couple toy, but could be used in a few different scenarios.

Material / Texture

The external plastic is very thin and somewhat flimsy, but allows for the vibrations to be powerful and strong. The Torpedo is made with smooth but flexible plastic and has a painful seam where you take it apart for the battery installation. This is why I have recommended an external use only for this product. It is a longer pocket rocket, so this adds comfort in positioning.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Painful ridge

Design / Shape / Size

I like the thinner plastic, stronger vibrations and reasonable quietness of this vibe. It is about 5" long and tapers from the bottom at 1/2" to 3/4" at the top. Both ends are rounded and the vibrations are primarily near the top, but can be felt throughout.

There are no instructions, so it took a bit to figure out how to insert the batteries. You need to twist and pull very hard at the top. This will eventually pop it off and open up the battery compartment in the handle. The Torpedoe takes two AA batteries, which are very hard to push down into the handle, and barely fit. The top then needs to be forcefully pushed and twisted back into place. You turn it on by twisting the top. Battery removal is very difficult since the bottom battery is stuck in the base of the handle. I had to hit it on my table a few times in order to dislodge the battery.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Torpedo is difficult to figure out and battery replacement is frustrating enough to make you quit using this vibrator. I loved the power and length, but was not happy with the controls or lack of quality.

The motor is pretty quiet, however it does get a bit noisy after about 15 hours of use. This vibrator is definitely splash proof, but I would not call it waterproof. The top fits very tight, but there is no seal.

Beware: This vibe eats batteries, so unless you like getting rough and frustrated with your toys, use minimally.

Care and Maintenance

I washed the Torpedo with a mild soap and water, dried it immediately and disinfected it with toy cleaner. I store it in a plastic bag beside my other plastic toys.

I only use water based lube, however this is compatible with silicone and oil based lubes as well. Just be sure to clean very well around the seam where the top and bottom join.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store
Follow-up commentary
My torpedo quit working after about 5 minutes of use tonight. It got seriously hot and then died right before I turned it off. I am a bit bummed, this could have been a great toy with a few minor improvements, but I will try it again possibly before I totally give up on it, as long as it is a free gift!
