Use

When I was a kid, we used to have bamboo growing in huge clumps all over the back yard, me and my siblings used to cut down pieces and use them in sword fights, we would play hide and seek inside the giant stalks and even make whistles out of their leaves. So when I saw The Zini Zook, I knew I just had to have it, my old childhood plaything had been reborn in my new favourite type of toy! And not only did it bring back some cherished memories from long ago but it has made new XXX rated ones too.

Material / Texture

The Zook is made from 100% food grade silicone and plastic that is phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, latex free, non - porous and has an anti-bacterial property. The silicone itself has a smooth, light and velvety feel to it. The one flaw in the texture of the Zook is the very slight seam that runs around the silicone of the insertable section, the seam is barely felt under the finger and cannot be felt when in use. This seam is at it's most noticeable at the segment join on the clitoral arm. The textural shape of the Zook is as I mentioned before, simulating bamboo, the segmented bumps in the shaft range from a deep groove to the slightest of bumps. The silicone of the Zook has a fairly strong smell, it's not an overpowering one and it won't fill the room but it is the most noticeable of all my silicone toys, the plastic however has no smell at all and neither have any taste.

Design / Shape / Size

The Zini Zook is shaped like a fresh green bamboo shoot, the tip has a bulge for G-spotting purposes and the shaft sprouts a little well formed leaf. The base of the Zook is a seed shaped handle, quite ponited at one end and a stark white that contrasts with the green of the insertable part.
The control panel for the Zook is in the handle, as it is with a lot of toys, there is one main button that works in a sort of "sea-saw" way, with either side used to go up with a + or down with -. In the centre of the main button, there is a small, round button which is used to switch from power levels to functions. Surrounding the main button and following the same lines as the seed like handle is a thin, translucent strip that lights up and amazingly enough it has at least 15 different colours that it can produce.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Zini Zook has lots of power stages and an enormous amount of functions, the lights flash different colours depending on said functions. The Zini Zook also has a quite a bit of power, it's not deep and rumbly like Mimi but more buzzy and high pitched, that being said though I would put them in the same vrooms.

The Zook comes with 15 different functions, which all correspond to their own unique colour and listing them all would spoil the surprise so I will just give you a couple of examples:

Mellow Yellow, A roller coaster of vibrations, sliding from the tip of the toy and down the shaft.
True Blue, A deep, thudding pulse that is steady and repetitive.
Bean Green, A nice solid vibration throughout the shaft and a quick "tap tap" through the clit leaf.
Think Pink, A buzzy pulse of vibrations.

The Zook is listed as waterproof and I don't exactly know what anyone else's is like, but mine has what seems to be a "gap" around the LED light, especially when you press down on the buttons and it's because of that, that I'm not convinced that it is waterproof. And quite frankly, $130 is a bit too much to risk with testing it too.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning Zook can be a little more difficult because as I mentioned before, the Zook may not be waterproof as described. I usually wet the toys very briefly and then lather up some toy cleaner, but because it is a silicone toy, a bleach solution or soap/hand wash and water can also be used. Please do not boil the Zook, not only because of my waterproofing worries but also because the toy is a powered one and will not withstand boiling.

Lubricants should only be of the water based kind, silicone lubes can degrade some silicones and I really wouldn't risk damaging a toy that costs as much as the Zook does.
    • Easy to store
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

The packaging of the Zook is exceptional, it comes in a sleek black box that has a "carbon fibre" texture to it. The box opens with a magnetic flap and inside, incased in a clear, formed plastic shell is the Zook. To get to the Zook, you have to tug a little ribbon, be careful though and tug gently, the first time I opened mine, it was a little hard and I ended up tearing the insert a little. After you get the inner flap lifted, there is your Zook and under that is the charger, the manuals and the gorgeous storage bag.
The pouch the Zook comes with is not like the usual toy pouches I've seen, it's not plush or velvety but a nice slick, textured, almost rubberised fabric. This is great because it leaves no lint on the toy and protects it from moisture too.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

The Zook is another toy that I had set myself up for heartache with, I had such high hopes that this techy wonder would be the geek vibe of my dreams but it fell flat. Don't get me wrong, the Zook has all the bells and whistles, all the lights and geekery but in the end I did not love it. I was left feeling pretty 'MEH' about the vibe as a whole. It looks GREAT, it's powerful and it's made beautifully with the best of materials but no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to take a shine to this one.
