SSA Glass's Emerald Explorer is labeled as an anal probe, but it can also be used vaginally. Five bumpy bulges make for a stimulating sensation wherever you decide to use it, and the large round handle allows for easy, safe solo or partner play.

The Emerald Explorer is made from Pyrex glass, which rates a 10 on Eden's material safety scale, making it one of the safest materials available. The material is non-porous and can be used vaginally, anally, or shared (though the toy should be cleaned thoroughly before sharing or switching between orifices). Glass is very firm, so care should be taken while thrusting to prevent bruising the cervix; glass toys should also be inspected before each use to check for chips, cracks and scratches. Also, there is no smell or taste to this glass toy.

While the toy is smooth and slick, there are five bulges that provide some texture, though it is not overwhelming or intimidating.

The Emerald Explorer has a very simple design: five bulges with a ring at the bottom for a handle. The length and girth are not overwhelming for beginners, though not too underwhelming for advanced users either. Because of its moderate size and weight, it could easily be traveled with as long as it's protected adequately. As for being discreet, well, the toy isn't all that discreet nor is it extremely identifiable as a sex toy. If someone weren't that knowledgeable about such things, they might not be able to guess what it was; however, some might immediately guess its intended use. Honestly, if it had a little lip in the ringed handle, it could pass for a fancy bottle opener.

The handle is 2" long and just over 2" wide, with a 1 1/4" diameter hole in the middle. Also, all the bulges on mine are about the same size and do not gradually increase or decrease in size.

This toy is very easy to use. Apply some lube and insert it vaginally, anally, or into a willing partner. Thrust fast, thrust slow, clench around it and slowly pull it out allowing the bulbs to pop one by one from whatever orifice it is inserted into. However, because of the large ring handle, this toy is not harness compatible nor comfortable to wear for extended periods of time anally (especially if you're trying to sit).

Caring for this glass toy is very simple. Simply wash with soap and water (being sure to get in between the bulges to prevent body fluid or lube buildup), or use toy cleaner or wipes, boil briefly, or place in the top rack of a dishwasher with either no detergent or one made specifically for glass. Any type of lube is also safe to use with the toy, though much shouldn't be needed because of the smooth, slick surface.

The Emerald Explorer does come with a thin, velvety drawstring pouch for storage. Though if you desire something with more padding, you could either purchase one or make one to your liking.

The Emerald Explorer arrived with minimal packaging. Inside its thin, red storage pouch, the toy itself was wrapped in a thin sheet of bubble wrap. That's it. No bells, no whistles, no embarrassing or indiscreet box to hide from prying eyes. The storage pouch it arrives in obviously can be used to store the toy, or you can provide it a more padded home.

The Emerald Explorer is certainly a lovely green piece of glass! When I purchased this, I wasn't experienced at all with anal, so it sat unused for some time before I tried it out. I've never been too fond of texture vaginally, but using this toy that way was comfortable and pleasurable. Though only to a degree because I prefer toys with more girth vaginally.

As an anal toy, while I certainly could handle the size, I quickly found out that I wasn't overly fond of the bulged texture. I've definitely come to realize that I prefer smooth items in my backdoor. Ah well, I guess this was an affordable lesson that I'm glad I learned before spending more on other textured anal toys.

Overall, though this wasn't really the toy for me, it still is a lovely piece of glass that I'm sure others will enjoy.
