Fantastic For Fantasy

Basically this is made of win. Super easy, super simple, super effective.
It's easy to set up, easy to put away, easy to adjust, just overall super easy. For those who aren't totally comfortable letting themselves be tied up- you want to be able to struggle but if something happens you want to be able to break free- this is PERFECT. The velcro strap is long enough to allow you to free yourself if there's a fire, for instance, but still strong enough that you can thrash to your heart's content.

Use

This toy is the ultimate introduction to light bondage. If you've been fantasizing about being tied up but are too shy to actually ask for it, showing him this might prompt some interest, (among other things). Extremely easy to set up, maintain, use, and store discretely, the Under The Bed Restraint System is fabulous.
It's made for people who don't have a headboard or bedposts to attach cuffs to. The bed, (or mattress), itself acts as the anchor for the straps.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

The system is very easy to figure out, once you open it up. It was designed to be simple. While it's lying there in a wad, it can seem a bit intimidating.

The design is simple and easy to understand-- using a cinch closure (like we have on our bras), one can adjust the length of the straps to accommodate an infinite combination of personal heights and bed sizes. Then, just hook the cuffs onto the straps in use- if you're only restraining the hands, there's no need to attach the cuffs to the foot straps, now is there?

The cuffs are all individually detachable with a steel spring hook. The cuffs close with velcro, so they are easy to attach and remove. The velcro is rather long so, if you have small wrists like me, you can very easily hold the end of the velcro in hour hand. This provides security in knowing that if something goes weird, you can just pull yourself out of the cuffs easily. Being slightly paranoid, this was very nice to know.

Performance

In terms of performance, this works amazingly. In our case, the mattress was more at fault than the system. (see Personal Experience below)

The system is very sturdy, (assuming your mattress doesn't just squish), and can take quite a beating. The nylon straps are very strong -- they're the same kind of straps used on backpacks, (where they haven't put fancy padding for your shoulders), belly bags, and all sorts of things I can't think of right now.

You can pull and squirm all you'd like and the Velcro won't give way.

One neat thing I realized while setting up the system is that you can change where the straps go. Under the mattress, the system forms an X shape. A mattress, however, is (usually) a rectangle. If you had the straps going straight out from the center of the system, the straps would reach over the corners of the bed. By changing which side of the corner you have a strap come out of, you can change the shape you're in when strapped down.

If you have the straps coming over the top and bottom of the bed, (the short side), you'll be stretched longer. If you have the straps coming out of the side of the bed, (the long sides), you'll have more of a spread-eagle stretch. The variety here is really cool to me.
    • Comfortable during use
    • Easy to put on / use
    • Holds up to use well

Care and Maintenance

Not much is required for this puppy in terms of storage. Once you have it set up, the only things that indicate anything is amiss are the 4 straps that the cuffs are attached to. If you're of the lazy variety, you can just tuck the arm and leg straps under the mattress. That way they're right there and ready to go whenever you are! But if you have curious little ones, (or snoopy friends, or, or, or...), then just lift up the mattress, pull the restraint system out, pop it into a zip-lock baggy and you're good to go.

As far as cleaning it, I haven't really looked into it. It's made with nylon straps, so I would assume that if you got something on the system, take the offending section over to a sink and wash it with soap and water. You wouldn't need to get the entire strap (or the entire system, for that matter) wet at all, just the portion that you got dirty.
    • Easy to store

Packaging

It's a LITTLE obvious what's in the box when you buy this. The restrained chick on the front of the box with the big "UNDER THE BED RESTRAINT SYSTEM" makes it a difficult to ignore. It also includes some variation of the restrained woman on all 4 sides. But apart from being very obvious as to the content, it's well packaged. The box is in pastel colors, so at least it doesn't stand out that way.

The packaging includes instructions that are rather easy to understand; well, if you need to read the instructions. The system itself is so simple that most people can just bypass the instructions.
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative
    • Not discreet

Personal comments

Thus far, my S.O. and I have only been able to play with this once, (we're in colleges in different states). Due to his mattress being squishy and having put the system directly under the mattress, I was less restrained than intended. We were both a little bummed, (a LITTLE bummed, not very bummed at all, really), but we can't wait to use the system again. We loved it!

I think that it is the perfect way to introduce light bondage into the bedroom when you have a bed with neither a headboard nor posts. The system uses the mattress itself to anchor you in place.

Experience

In terms of performance, this works amazingly. In our case, the mattress was more at fault than the system. We put the system under the mattress rather than under the box springs. So, when it came time to squirm, the straps were only held down by the mattress, an off-brand Tempurpedic mattress. The mattress squished in an amusing fashion, rendering me a bit less restrained than intended.
So I just stretched out. I'm tall enough that my hands and wrists stuck out over the top of the mattress, and my feet were clearly bound. My guy didn't even notice until we were finished and I made some gesture with my hand. He was a bit confused until I explained that my arms hadn't been fully restrained. We were both a little bummed (a LITTLE bummed, not very bummed at all, really). We can't wait to use this again!

Note that the system is in NO WAY responsible for this. It's his bad mattress.
Follow-up commentary
It's been a while since I got the Under the Bed Restraint System and we still love it. We've since gotten a mattress that is MUCH less... floppy... than the other one, so the "mattress bending up when we pull the system" problem is gone.

We had some older family with knee trouble coming over (thus we got to use the blow-up bed on the floor while they got the actual bed). So we just lifted our mattress, yanked the UtBRS out, stuffed it in a bag, and threw it in the closet. Family never had a clue. ;)

Definitely an all time favorite for us.
