Light Sensatons

This is a great toy for beginners. It is not heavy. Although ultra lightweight, it is solidly built. The teeth are small. It will be a challenge to inflict any wounds or marks with this little wheel. You will not want to share this as it is hard to clean in the rotating wheel mechanism. The thing I like best about this toy is the finger rest. It makes it very comfortable to use. The thing I don't like is that the teeth are not uniform.

extremely useful review
We love sensory play. This is a great addition to our collection. This is not a toy for the experienced BDSM couple. However, it is great for those who are new to the BDSM or those who are looking for a new sensory toy. The Wartenberg wheel was originally a medical device to test nerve sensitivity. It is small enough to throw in your handbag, backpack or overnight bag. It does not take up much space and weighs next to nothing.

Design & Size
The wheel is just over 6" in length. It has a red plastic handle that is 3 1/2". There is a metal ring at the top that secures the handle to the upper portion.

The next portion is a flattened metal piece that allows you to rest your thumb or forefinger on it to apply more pressure during use. The wheel is 3/4" across. There are approximately 28 tiny teeth around the wheel. The teeth are not uniform and some are higher than others. This is extremely light.

Material
It is made of an ultralight steel and plastic. Metal is rated a 9 out of 10 on EF's safety scale and plastic is rated 8 out of 10 on EF's safety scale. So this is a very safe product to use. However, you still need to be very careful in sharing your wheel. The reason that the wheel is not popular in medical settings is that it is hard to clean and bacteria can get lodged inside the mechanism. Due to the very low price of this item, I would suggest getting multiple partners their own wheel.

I would suggest wiping this with toy wipes or a cloth dipped in a 10% bleach solution. Be sure that you throughly dry this toy. Any moisture will cause this to rust.

Packaging
The wheel comes in a white box. It has a full sized picture of the wheel on the front. The top has Tickle, Tease and Please! Fetish Fantasy Series on it.
front
On the back is a picture of someone using the wheel on someone else. It tells a bit about the origin of te wheel.
back
When you open the box, you will find the wheel and a bonus blindfold. Both are in resealable plastic sleeves.

Bonus Blindfold
It is 7" across and 3 3/4" high. It has a thin elastic strap tied to it. It is good if you want to try out a blindfold. A couple of drawbacks are the material is makes a crinkly noise when you move and you can see the light under it and there is light through it. It may be too tight on larger heads.
Experience
The wheel is very lightweight, in fact it is about the same weight as a pen. The design of the finger rest is very nice. This allows you to comfortably put extra pressure on the wheel to give a more intense feeling to your partner. The teeth are not sharp and it would take a large amount of pressure to make marks or even puncture the skin. This is a low cost beginners toy that will allow you to see if this is something you will enjoy.

It is a lot of fun to tie up your partner, blindfold them then use this as one of the sensory toys. I found alternating between hard and soft toys, massage and oral can bring a lot of delight to your partner.

I rated this a 4 out of 5. I rated this based on price and targeted skill level. It is an entry level beginner's toy. As such, it is very good. I did not like that the teeth were not uniform and the wheel was slightly off center. It was still very functional and did meet our goals. Rating this against higher priced toys targeted at the serious BDSMer would not be fair.
Follow-up commentary
This is definitely for beginners, those with prior wheel experience should keep looking. It is low cost way to see if you like the Wartenberg wheel. If you do, then you will want to upgrade to a better quality one fairly quickly. If it is not for you, you have not wasted a lot of money. We had not tried one before and this one was on sale so I thought why not give it a try.

I wish there was a choice for it is OK. We like it occasionally for sensory play. We are middle of the road on the wheel, not loving it but also not hating it. It is a nice addition to the play list but, it does not come out of the toy box very often. I think we would enjoy a better quality one more, but right now there are other things I want to add to the collection before upgrading.
