The initial purpose of the Wartenberg wheel was to stimulate the nerve endings. It was invented to test out nerve reactions. But this pinwheel is quite different from the original. The original has pointy spikes and really did make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

This version, from Fetish Fantasy, is quite different. The ends of this wheel are dull and not nearly as pointy as the original. This version is a great option for beginners, or those who look at the original with fear. This is also great for those who receipted the original version too intensely.

To use, simply roll the wheel across your, or your lover's, skin.

The Fetish Fantasy Wartenberg wheel is made of two materials. Metal and plastic, with the plastic being the red handle. The wheel, and the wheel's attachment to the plastic handle are made of metal. All portions of this toy are well put together and sturdy. The wheel can mildly be wiggled in it's attatchment, but not enough that I would call it loose or think that it could ever fall out. The portion attatching the metal to the plastic is also quite secure. You would have to really be trying to separate the two.

As for the design, I'm kind of saddened. The pins on this pinwheel are nothing more than metal nubs and do not produce the same sensation or markings that the original pinwheel does. Each "nub" is 1/16" long and, while it can be felt, it does not produce the same reaction as the original pinwheel.

All together, this toy is 6" long. At it's widest point on the handle, it is 5/8" wide. The plastic portion is 3 3/8" long. The wheel itself is 3/4" wide and it's thickness is too thin to be measured.

This wheel does perform well. The wheel rolls easily and the toy is made sturdily and it should never break on you. My disappointment with this toy lies in the lack of sharpness of the "pins" on this wheel. The original has long spikes that really send a tingle down your spine when it is rolled over your skin. When this version is rolled over my skin, I feel it, but there are not tingles whatsoever.


Someone who is frightened of the original pinwheel or is only interested in extremely light play would probably appreciate it much more than me.

The care of this toy is fairly simple. If you get lube or bodily fluid on it, simply wipe it off. This toy is made of plastic and metal and can be cleaned with soap and warm water. After washing, always remember to dry thoroughly. I am unsure of the type of metal used, and you wouldn't want your new toy to get a rust spot.

Storage of this toy is fairly simple. You can leave it in it's original box or store it in a plastic bag. I suppose you could even leave it loose in your toy box since the "pins" on this wheel are very dull, I don't see it harming any of your toys.

The packaging for this toy is simple and brief. It comes in a small box that is pretty clearly labeled and has an image of the included toy. The back of the box even gives you a paragraph of it's intended uses and how it will spice up your night. I would not call this box discreet at all.

Inside the box, you will find your pinwheel in a plastic bag, as well as a thin black mask or blindfold. This blindfold is also in a plastic bag. The mask has a white sticker on it labeled "Made in China". This sticker peels off easily.

Both of the plastic bags, as well as the box are recyclable. Please remember to set out as such, should you choose to toss the packaging.
