Naughty and Nice!

I really like the Sensua whip for a teasing or lighter sort of play. It's a very sexy looking toy that has a lot of appeal to it. It would make a great toy for exploring light pain and finding your kinky side.

Use

The Sensua Suede Whip from Lelo is a cute little toy that would be a great way to break into BDSM play. While it is called a whip, it is actually a small flogger. It is smaller than most floggers I've seen, but it works pretty well. I would definitely recommend it to beginners since it is not a toy that will cause a lot of pain and its small size will make it easy to control. It's not only a toy for beginners though, experienced players will find an effective and sensual toy. It's not a toy that will leave marks or sting very much, though it will cause a little bit of pain if you want it too. The flogger really is a beautiful and luxurious looking toy.

Design / Craftsmanship / Size / Material / Features

The flogger comes in three colors: black, purple, and red. I have the red color and I think it is absolutely beautiful. It is a deep, luxurious looking color that fits the flogger very well.

The flogger is much smaller than most that I have seen. The handle is about 5.5" long and the tails are just a touch over 8" long. Its size makes it almost cute looking rather than intimidating like many floggers can seem. The tails are all uniform in size and are approximately 1/8" wide. They don't stick together, get tangled, or anything like that and don't seem to get any creases in the suede.

The handle is made of acrylic and metal and is pretty sturdy. The metal end leaves more weight at the bottom of the handle than at the top and makes the handle heavier than one might expect. The tails are made of soft suede that is made from sheepskin and is somewhat prone to shedding, especially at first. The tails are very securely fastened to the handle and even when I've tried to pull on them, they haven't shown any signs of loosening. The flogger has a light leathery smell that is very pleasant.

I do wish there was a hook or D-ring of the handle to I could hang this up. The flogger hasn't gotten damaged or anything by storing it in a box, but I do think I would prefer to hang it up to store it with the other floggers we have.

Performance

The flogger performs pretty nicely for lighter use. This is not going to be the type of toy to use for leaving marks or causing a lot of pain. It does give a light thud and a little bit of sting, but it's not going to be so painful that it would scare off those who are new to flogging. The small size of the flogger also makes it easy to control and won't get away from you. The flogger can also be used for a softer, more sensual touch. It can be lightly dragged across the skin for a more soothing and feathery sort of touch which can be fun to use in between the more painful floggings. Though it's not a very painful flogger, if you keep using it for a long enough period it may beging to sting more for the recipient. With any sort of kinky play, it's important to use good communication and check in with the person receiving the flogging to make sure they are feeling okay and enjoying themselves. Overall this toy is very easy to handle and I would recommend it to new users as a toy to figure out whether or not they would like floggers.

Care and Maintenance

Suede can be pretty difficult to clean, so it's best to try and avoid getting it too dirty in the first place. Try and keep your flogger away from bodily fluids and lubes and things of that nature. You can use a suede cleaner to clean the tails if they do get dirty though.

It is a good idea to store your flogger in a cool, dark place when not in use to help protect the suede. Sunlight can definitely damage the suede, and water or humidity can too.

Packaging

Lelo always has great packaging and the Sensua Whip is no exception. The flogger came is the same type of elegant black packaging that Lelo toys all come in. It comes in a a small, sturdy, classy black box that would be great for gift giving. Surrounding the black box is another box with a beautiful picture of the flogger on it. There's not a whole lot in the way of instructions, but the toy is pretty simple to use.

Experience

I really like this flogger a lot. My partner was sort of indifferent about it, although he did say he wished it was bigger. I am the partner who is always on the receiving end of these kind of toys, and I really love how this flogger feels. It's light and thuddy and just feels really good to me. This isn't a toy we would take to do a scene or anything like that, but it's fun to pull out in the bedroom every once in awhile. It's a fun flogger that is gentle enough that it can still feel light and playful, which can be an element that is missing when using more of our heavy-duty, getting down to buisiness floggers.
Follow-up commentary
We still use this toy a lot. We often use it as a warm up toy for more intense impact play. It has held up well to a lot of use and it still looks just as nice as when we first bought it. The shedding stopped after a few uses and is no longer an issue. I would still highly recommend this toy for anyone who is in the market for a classy looking flogger.
