Well... They're furry.

These cuffs might be alright for someone looking for a relatively cheap, disposable pair of handcuffs, or even for a gag gift, but if you're looking for a quality item for repeated use, I wouldn't really recommend them. On the whole, they are uncomfortable and cheaply made, so if you're even a little serious about using them, try another pair!

Use

Long ago in a land far away, someone bought me a pair of these cuffs as a gag gift, never anticipating that I would actually use them. Little did they know, after a year or two of having them, I found use for them! Unfortunately, I never found use for them again.

These cuffs are a fun gag gift for someone that will likely be embarrassed by them, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend them to even a beginner who is curious about BDSM. They stand up to a fair amount of tugging, but usually bite into your wrists while being worn in a very uncomfortable way. My boyfriend didn't mind the sensation so much, but I found them extremely uncomfortable--while I enjoy some pain during our play, these gave off more of a dull aching pain versus the fun sexual pain that I prefer. While they will stay in place, the fur often slips off of them, exposing your wrists to portions of the freezing metal, and the emergency lock-out function is exceedingly easy to manipulate while they are being worn, meaning that pretty much anyone can get out of them at any time.

While I haven't tested these out by submerging them in water, I frankly wouldn't be surprised to see them rust after one or two submergings. For that reason, if you're looking for restraints safe for the shower or any sort of water play, these are probably not a great choice if you want them for long term use. On the other hand, if you need a cheap, disposable pair of restraints for that purpose, these might work for you.

These cuffs are, to say the least, low quality. Although this shouldn't be terribly surprising, because frankly, you get what you pay for (and these are rather cheap). They consist of two metal cuffs chained together in the center by three chain links whose seams are clearly visible. Each cuff features a small, furry cover which slips onto the cuff (while open) and slides around frequently while the cuffs are being manipulated. The set includes two keys; one for everyday use and one for backup, just in case you lose the first. Losing the key and getting trapped in these is hardly a concern, however, since they include a key-free release feature.

The fur "cover" for these cuffs is perhaps one of the places where they are lacking the most. The cover is about 6 inches long and covers most, but not all, of the upper metal portion of the cuff that goes around your wrist. It does not protect your wrist from the bottom of the cuff, where the locking mechanisms are and where the cuffs connect. The small furry sleeves are hemmed (poorly) together on one end and seemingly just cut off on the other side: no hem, no nothing. This means that the fabric and thread hemming them together will start to fray with use, eventually. Otherwise, the seam is visible on the outside and inside of the toy. The seam connecting the fur into a loop/tube is sewn with large, amateur looking stitching (it looks like something I would sew, and I'm not exactly a master seamstress).

The cuffs themselves are clearly made of cheap metal. One good thing about them, however, is that they do have a slight opaqueness to them and do not pick up fingerprints or dirt at all, really. They have a slight weight to them, making them feel realistic enough for a beginner, but don't have all the heaviness of a good pair of metal cuffs. They should fit a large variety of wrists and easily fit on both myself and my boyfriend--both of us have somewhat larger wrists. Each cuff features a small "stop" lever which, when pushed towards the opposite cuff allows the release and tightening of the cuffs, but when pushed away from the other cuffs, prevents it. The stop lever is necessary to use at almost all times, as the cuffs can be tightened all the way to their tightest setting when it is not pushed down, meaning that you could accidentally cut off circulation to your lover's hands if you're not careful.

Performance

Frankly, I'm glad that I didn't actually spend money to buy these cuffs for myself. They were, at the very least, a good way for me to learn that I don't really care for metal cuffs. Since these, I've acquired a pair of beautiful leather cuffs that I'm MUCH happier with. In bed, I found these were uncomfortable and almost unnecessary. While the lock-out feature may provide reassurance to some couples, to me it was only an annoyance, as it is SO easy for the other person to get out of without your help. Furthermore, as I mentioned earlier, the fur on these cuffs often slides around, exposing your wrists to the metal and making the idea of the fur almost useless.

The cuffs can be put on almost effortlessly, by simply putting them on your lover and sliding the outer cuff into the inner locking portion until it is as tight as it needs to be. Without touching the "stop" lever or outer release lever, the cuffs cannot be loosened at all, but can be tightened infinitely. When not on, they will eventually hit the maximum tightness level and swing around a full 360 degrees, back into their original "open" position. To loosen or take off the cuffs, you push the side level away from the opposite cuff and pull: the cuffs will slide easily out of position. When not being pressed, this lever pops back up into the default "infinite tight" position. To prevent that outer lever from opening the cuffs and to prevent the cuffs from tightening when not welcome, there is a "stop" lever that can be pushed away from the opposite cuff and will stay in place until moved back towards the opposite cuff. The cuffs cannot be put on with this lever pushed outwards.

The chain link between the cuffs is about 3.75 inches, which is just enough for anyone to twist their wrists around and get the stop lever pushed back up, then push down the outer lever to get out of the cuffs. My boyfriend demonstrated the ease with which he could get out of these several times and I found the same to be true for myself, which was a huge disappointment. While you can't really "accidentally" escape these, you definitely CAN escape them, very quickly and easily.

Care and Maintenance

These cuffs are easy to care for and you can store them in the box they came in or just in the bottom of your toy/underwear drawer. However, should you get something on the fur, I would NOT recommend tossing these in the washer due to the poor construction of the sleeve. You may be able to hand wash them, but I would honestly say to just do your best to wipe them down and move on with your life. The metal of the cuffs should be washable in much the same way, but I've never really found an instance where I needed to wash these.

As a side note, there's nothing really subtle about these cuffs or their packaging: they're furry handcuffs, one of the most infamous beginner BDSM toys out there. Anyone who sees them will recognize them for what they are, so keep it in mind before hanging them over the corner of your bed frame!

Experience

We did manage to have some fun with these, but they mostly served to alert us to the fact that we needed to invest in some better restraints! The best way we found to use them was sitting in a subservient position on a bed/floor--I enjoyed cuffing my man's hands behind his back and leaving him at my whim for quite some time in these. Afterwards, we moved onto the bed and while I hadn't been able to stand laying with these cuffs behind my back, he found it more bearable. We had fun playing around with them on and while he had no complaints during play, he did say that his wrists were extremely sore and painful when we had finished. So sore, in fact, that he didn't even wait for me to get them off for him and instead spent a few minutes wriggling around and removing them himself. After some kissing and massages, we tossed them back into the drawer and vowed to find some better cuffs in the future!
