Icicles No. 8 is a modestly-sized glass dildo. Its main function is penetration. However, because of its sensitivity to temperature, it can also be heated/cooled and placed on different areas of the body for temperature play. But since I have not used it that way, you won't be hearing much about it in my review. I have only used the toy vaginally, but I think it would work fine anally if the smaller end were inserted.
Cautions:
Glass is very hard, and cervixes (though resilient) are soft. When using vaginally, be careful not to thrust too hard with this dildo because it can bruise your cervix. If you do plan on playing rough with it, I recommend NOT aiming straight for the cervix but rather inserting it at an angle to hit the vaginal wall instead.
This toy is made from borosilicate glass (commonly known by the brand name Pyrex). This material is GREAT! It is food-grade, hypo-allergenic, latex and phthalate free, nonporous, and more sturdy and shatter-resistant than regular glass. It's extremely smooth, which I love. Because Icicles No. 8 is my first glass toy, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy how rigid it is. I've found that I do prefer toys with a bit more give, but this toy has many other redeeming factors, in my opinion.
Other great things about this toy are that is has NO smell or taste, and it doesn't pick up dirt/lint/hairs like toys made from other materials!
To be honest, the design of this toy is what led me to buy it, initially. I had never owned (or even used) a glass toy before, and I just couldn't resist how cute this one was! I love how it glistens when light hits it, and the curves not only feel great, but are nice to look at!
The bulbous end is wonderful. It can be used as a handle when inserting the toy using the smaller end, but it also feels great to have the big end inserted.
At first, I was a little disappointed by the size of the toy. Even though I always check measurements before I buy an item, I usually tend to overestimate how big it'll be. I was expecting the Icicles No. 8 to be bigger, but now that I have used it I'm satisfied with the size. The bulbous end is nice for when I do want something a little bigger.

Overall, I really like this toy. Since it was my first glass toy, there were a couple of things that took getting used to, like the rigidity. When the smaller end is inserted, the bulbous end makes a convenient handle. However, when the bulbous end is inserted, it is a little harder to control (especially if it's lubey!). Control from the smaller end isn't impossible, though. It just takes some practice.
Icicles No. 8 is a fairly low maintenance toy. It is very easy to wash - just use toy cleaner, or soap and water. Store it in a place with soft padding, or in its package. It can be used with any type of lube!
The packaging is not discreet (it has a picture of the toy on it), but the toy is well packaged. However, I was disappointed that it did not come with a storage bag. I have been storing the toy in its package, which is fine for now, although it takes up a bit more space than I'd like.
