An Object in Motion

The Alumina Motion is the kind of toy you'll be glad to own for a lifetime. It's versatile, highly stimulating, and well worth the investment for anyone who likes a firm stroking against their g-spot, rapid thrusting, or temperature play.

Pros
Stimulating, beautiful, and body safe. A marvel of aeronautical technology for your nether regions.
Cons
Caution should be exercised when thrusting, lest the enthusiasm of the moment bruise the cervix.

Use

The Tantus Alumina Motion is a double ended dildo of surprising versatility, ideal for temperature play internally or externally, and capable of uniquely powerful g-spot stimulation. Rather than targeting the g-spot with an easy-to-use curved end, its texture provides stimulation with each stroke.

Hard materials such as aluminum should be used with caution, as overenthusiastic thrusting could bruise the cervix, so take care, especially with partner use. The Motion lacks any sort of flare for anal play, but the two halves can be unscrewed and combined with the handle of the Alumina Revolve to correct that issue.

Material / Texture

I loved the Alumina Revolve so much that I jumped on the opportunity to own another toy from the line, and the Motion certainly did not disappoint. Just like the Revolve, the Motion feels both solidly heavy and lightweight at the exact same time. This means that, when inserted, it feels heavy inside your body, while it feels light in your hand.

This amazing feat of physics is made possible by the same high grade aluminum that the aeronautics industry uses to hang jets in the sky. The Alumina Motion is a much better use of the material, though, because when it comes to physical satisfaction, orgasms will always beat airline food.

Aluminum also holds temperature well. Drop your toy in a glass of icy water, and enjoy a chilled thrill. Or warm it up for a less shocking sensation. Do use caution in heating and cooling -- using boiling water for warming could result in your most embarrassing emergency room visit yet, and too much time in the freezer might result in some oddly placed frostbite. Use common sense, please!

Like other metals, aluminum is a non-porous, phthalates free and body safe material.

As for the texture, the Alumina Motion is wonderfully smooth, with a slightly different stimulating shape on each end.
    • Not porous at all
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

At first glance, the Motion looks intimidatingly sharp and pointy in the two dimensions of cyberspace, especially on the smaller end, but once the nice UPS man brings it to your doorstep in all its three dimensional glory, it's actually quite perfect. The shape is pronounced, but appropriately rounded.

Sometimes a picture is not worth a thousand words. Clichés lie.

If left lying about, the Motion doesn't look like an obvious sex toy. It looks like a weapon. Or part of a toy spaceship. Not that you'd ever leave your toys lying about, of course.

The larger end is a nice medium size -- filling, yet maneuverable, and only slightly intimidating to beginners, while the smaller end is so small that its ability to deliver intense stimulation comes as quite a surprise.

Performance

Either end provides strong stimulation for thrusting, although I'm personally much more cautious with the smaller end. With the right angle, the pronounced texture rubs firmly against the g-spot, and the results are very good indeed.

A fairly rapid pace is possible with the larger end, and the lightness of the material makes it possible to hold the smaller end between just two fingers when using it as a handle.

I also found that the smaller end excelled at external stimulation. Plus, temperature play, always awesome.

Metal is a little different than glass in temperature play: they both feel stimulatingly chilly initially, but the glass warms up gradually to body temperature. The metal, on the other hand, feels cool longer, until suddenly it's quite warm. Further study regarding this phenomenon is required, and I volunteer!
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function

Care and Maintenance

The Alumina Motion can be washed with soap and water, or your preferred toy cleaner, for regular post-fun maintenance. To sterilize, run it through the dishwasher. While I've boiled mine without ill effects, I've been told that Tantus does not recommend that practice, due to the finish. I've also learned that exposure to bleach can age aluminum, so if you choose to wipe it down with a bleach solution for sanitation purposes, be sure that your solution contains 10% bleach at most, and that the toy is rinsed thoroughly. (You should always rinse bleach thoroughly, of course, for the sake of your sensitive bits.) The two halves come part very easily if necessary for cleaning.

Don't lose the little silicone ring. That's where your least favorite nipple clamps come in handy -- use one to capture the ring, and it's safe until reassembly time.

As for storage, the Motion comes in a really beautiful gift box, fits easily in a separator bag, or can just go straight in the toy box loose. It's well prepared to defend itself against other toys, but I keep mine in a lightly padded separator bag for the safety of my glass toys.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The Alumina line comes in gorgeous packaging quite suitable for gift presentation or storage. It's an elegant black box, with a shiny outline of the toy embossed upon it. The black foam inside is shaped to the toy, and this is one box I will keep far away from the recycling bin.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Gift box
    • Good for storage
Follow-up commentary
This is still a gorgeous toy that's a delight to use. Even as my collection has grown, this toy remains unique, and I quickly remember how much I love it every time I use it.

The aluminum is just as shiny and lovely as the day it arrived, and I expect it will serve me well for many years to come.
