Icicles No. 22 - dildo discontinued by Pipedream - review by ~LaUr3n~

The Icicles No. 22 is a GORGEOUS probe of glass. It's breathtaking, really. I could look at it and the way the light hits it forever. Its long, cold, shaft is smooth and penetrating. The bulbous head is very stimulating to the g-spot, or p-spot and can be used anally or vaginally because of the flared base. The detail on this dildo makes it a work of art and worthy of display. BUT, is it worthy of $65.99? Nope, not in my opinion. With the defects I found in the head, I expected more for that price. It is worth a pretty penny and is above SSA glass, but over $40 difference in some cases? Eh. Not really. I'm guessing this is priced mostly based just on looks. And I do like the looks! It is a very stimulating dildo, and I love that it is safe to use in both orifices, but I don't think I'd shell out that much money for this guy especially if I don't already know that I like glass. But if you do, and you like gorgeous glass art pieces, No. 22 is a marvel just in sight alone. Its size is okay for many, but again, I wouldn't get this as your first glass dildo.

Like most glass toys, this one is made of Pyrex glass specifically. Pyrex glass has a borosilicate additive which makes it stronger and more resilient to temperature changes, shattering, and breaking in general. You still should check your glass toys before EACH use. If you see any chips or cracks discontinue use immediately.

Glass is pretty much as safe as it gets. It has no chemicals is hypo-allergenic and is completely nonporous. It is also eco-friendly. The majority of the toy is clear. The base has a clear blue, and then there is a gorgeous spiral staircase of blue and red intertwined. The glass is smooth for the most part. You can faintly feel the inner swirls on the outside where the color makes contact with the outer most part of the shaft (where it does this, it looks like cracks - odd). It can be felt between the fingers, but not internally, at least not for me.

I would consider this toy to be a medium size. It is shaped like a smooth, simple probe with a semi-phallic head, bulb towards the base, and flared flat end. In total length is is 8 5/8" long. The maximum insertable length is 8 1/4", but if you don't go past the bulb towards the bottom, the insertable length is around 6". The top has a spade acorn shape that is slightly more pointed than I am used to. It is about 1 5/8" long and the thickest part is 4 1/3" in circumference. This bulb is great for g-spot and p-spot probing.

The shaft is completely straight. It is a little over 4" long before it hits the bottom bulb and is just under 3 1/2" in circumference which is s tad less than 1 1/8" in diameter - a very moderate size. The bulb is more rounded than the top. It is about 4 3/4" in circumference making it the largest part of the dildo (other than the anal safe base). This second bulge can act as an anchor point when the probe is used anally or if you stop before it, as an extra safety precaution.

The toy thins out a bit before the base. It is disc like and flat which allows the toy to be stood upright and be anal safe because it is 1 3/4" in diameter, larger than the rest of the dildo. It is also a good point to hold onto for thrusting.

This toy is not graphically phallic, nor does it look like most sex toys, but it does look like a probe of some type and might be noticed as a sex toy or at least noticed as an art piece.

NOTE: These products are hand blown and each will have slight variation. Mine had a few "defects". The tip is slightly curved at the very top and the bottom of the head has a lip indentation. Neither of these things caused any discomfort but they are visually noticeable and I expected better from a toy of this price.

In true Icicle form, this dildo feels amazing went used at a cool temperature. I love playing with cold toys, especially glass. Sliding this beauty in gives a wonderful shock to my g-spot. I'm pretty much instantly aroused if I didn't start that way already. The head doesn't hit my pubic bone and goes in easily enough. I say this because it does slide in really fast once it gets past that part. The head stimulates my inner walls wonderfully and has the potential to finish me from this alone, although not as easily or as fast as a textured dildo of similar size. The orgasms are just as strong, though! I don't enjoy taking the entire max length, but do enjoy this dildo up to about 6", any further and it becomes uncomfortable for me.

Anally, this probe is even better and is the reason I requested it for review. The head pops in with a minimal amount of lubricant and makes me wet instantly. The smaller size of the shaft makes this toy very comfortable for long periods of use and also makes it very easy to thrust with. Ass in the air, plunge the No. 22 deep and try to swallow that second bulge. For me, this isn't something I want to accomplish, but for those who want a bit of a challenge, it can be something that you can work up to. The toy isn't too big for double penetration with another toy either. I prefer to use a thin vibrator or clitoral toy.

The dildo stays cold for a good amount of time and then begins to hold heat which is an interesting sensation too.

Technically speaking, it is harness compatible. I would use a very snug ring if possible so you have maximum control over the toy in a harness. Because of the bulge at the top, it may be difficult to get a tight fit though. If you are using this in a harness, I suggest doing so anally.

The Icicles No. 22 is a very clean toy to play with, even when used anally. It's also a breeze to clean since it has no texture. For a quick, simple clean just use hot water and an antibacterial soap or toy spray. For a deep cleaning, put it in the top shelf of your dishwasher or boil it for 5-10 minutes to sterilize it for sharing. Glass can also be used with any lubricant you wish. I recommend a silicone one for both vaginal and anal use. Only a small amount is needed.

To store, I'd place it back in its protective packaging, or if you want something smaller, purchase and place it in a toy pouch.

The No. 22 comes in very attractive packaging. A matte textured cardboard box has a magnetic flap that opens in the front. On the flap is a gorgeous picture of the toy standing stoically. Underneath the flap the toy can be seen nestled in its foam cut out home, protected by a plastic pane. The left on the inner side of the flap is a closer picture of the head of the toy and information about the product. The back of the box has the same repeated information. The foam tray slides out and the toy can be removed. I think this package is excellent for storage and is a good gift for someone who likes glass toys.
