Ben-wa balls were always something that I was a little curious about, but was always a bit too nervous to even use. I never really thought anything of the vaginal muscles. Always thought they took care of themselves. Over the years, though, I've learned that doing Kegel exercises with or without some tools is a good thing for all women to look into. Not only can it help to decrease those embarrassing bladder leaks, but it can help increase your pleasure in the bedroom.

Thus, I ordered these little balls. I had a set before that were all metal, though I'm not sure what exactly they were made out of. I gave them to my girlfriend so she could use them, and I decided to try something a little different. These Ben-wa balls are made of plastic, which is non-porous and phthalate free, so you won't have to worry about them harboring any bacterial. You can clean them with warm water and soap, toy cleanser, or wipe them down with some rubbing alcohol. I wouldn't really recommend boiling or sticking them in the dishwasher as I'm not sure how they would react to super high temperatures.

The balls have a purple coating to them that almost feels rubbery and when I opened the package there was no distinct scent. They do not have an oily texture and are smooth. No taste is detected either, though I don't know why you would be sticking these in your mouth. The package is NOT discreet. It had the word "orgasm" right on the front packaging. If not for that word, I believe that most people would not recognize what these were for. The coating does cover a weighted metal which is what makes the balls feel heavy, though I assure you they are not so weighted that it would be a burden in your hand or even in your vagina.

They are marble-sized and are inserted vaginally and used to help assist in Kegel exercises. I found it much easier to squeeze the correct muscles while using the balls because I can feel where I am squeezing much better. The best method to use for Kegel exercises is to squeeze for 3 seconds, and release for 3 seconds. Do this about 10-15 times 2-3 times a day to help build some strong and healthy muscles. Doing this regularly is highly recommended to pregnant women as it can help keep your muscles strong for that big push before, during, and after. You can try it with one ball at first and work up to the pair, or you could just go for the pair at first, this is how you could achieve orgasm as I am told.

You can use any lube with these, water-based, oil, or silicone safely.

Now, these balls can be used to achieve orgasm or they can be used for your vaginal health. I bought mine for for the exercising purpose therefore, I don't have much to say about how well they can help you achieve an orgasm.

I know a lot of women are afraid of losing these balls inside of you, but it is very simple to retrieve them. You just push as if you are pushing out a baby or as if you are, well, pooping as my most recent gynecologist put it.

The balls are about 1 3/4" in length, which is also the insert-able length. The total circumference is about 2 3/4" and they weigh approximately 1 ounce.

I actually used these the first time while watching a little TV. I could barely feel the one that I used, but I could also tell when I was squeezing the right muscles and when I was squeezing the wrong muscles. After I "popped" it out, so to say, it did almost feel like it was still inside me for a few seconds, but it came out easily and cleaned off very well.

I think it's pretty simple to either love or hate Ben-wa balls. These are really good balls and help out a lot. I honestly don't exercise with them on a regular basis but maybe once or twice a month. They help a lot, and my girlfriend has noted that during penetrative sex, it feels as if I might break her fingers or hand with the grip I can get on her.

While I think I'd prefer to have glass balls just for the novelty of having glass balls, I think that these do the same job as the others. It's all about how you do your Kegels.
