After-Shave Powder Makes My Skin as Soft as Lotion Does

For those of us with sensitive skin, shaving is always a challenge. Either it hurts to shave, or there's soreness or irritation afterwards. Fortunately, Coochy has a line of products to help. I have yet to try other items, but the after-shave powder is just marvelous to soothe freshly-shaved skin and prevent razor burn.

Use

Coochy After-Shave Powder is a great product for anyone with skin that does not appreciate shaving. It contains aloe vera to soothe your skin, and is paraben-free. The label also states that the powder absorbs moisture and relieves chafing, which I found to be true when I applied it immediately after a shower. Though the name of the product is Coochy, it can be used anywhere that you experience irritation due to shaving--I applied it to my underarms, vulva, and inner thighs, as those are my most sensitive areas. In addition to being used after hair removal, this powder can be applied any time that you would like moisture and/or chafing control.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture is approximately the same as baby powder, and it feels very soft to the touch. Application is simple--like with any powder that comes with a puff, either tap some into the lid or tilt the container with the puff over the holes, and apply to any part of the body that needs it. Once applied, the powder stays put and does not rub off onto clothes unless you've applied too much. When applied to the skin, treated skin will feel soft, like when lotion is applied, and dry as when baby powder is applied.

Taste / Aroma

While in the container, this powder has a VERY strong baby powder-like scent to it. Once applied, however, I cannot detect a scent. Those with fragrance sensitivities may want to take care while using to ensure no reactions occur. The fragrance is at its strongest when the container is first opened, and does dissipate slightly after being opened and used a couple times.

I did not taste the powder, as it is intended for external use and should never be ingested.

Performance

This powder served very well to ease the irritation and soreness that I often experience after shaving. It quickly dried in the areas to which it was applied, and relieved the awkward thigh chafing that some of us larger ladies experience while walking out of the bathroom after drying off. I typically use a moisturizing body wash for shaving and follow it with a lotion, which provides good results as far as moisturizing goes, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try an item specifically designed for use after shaving. My skin is sensitive enough that I cannot shave the same area two days in a row, regardless of how gentle I am, due to pain caused by shaving again too soon. This did not irritate any area of skin that it was applied to, which is marvelous, as I have encountered a few products that burn upon application.

Packaging

If discretion is a concern, this is not an item to leave sitting out, as the labels on top of the lid and around the jar both say "Coochy" and make it very clear what the product is intended for. That being said, I find the container very cute. The jar itself is clear, with a black lid, and the labels are light blue with a metallic finish and white lettering. A powder puff is included for application, but it feels slightly cheap to me, so if you want to toss it in favor of a better one, feel free. I don't have an alternative applicator, so I'll stick with this one as long as it lasts. It is a fairly small container, but a little goes a long way, and you will certainly get your money's worth.
Follow-up commentary
I'm very happy with this, and find that I can now shave two days in a row, though that third day will be painful.
