Coochy after shave powder - aftershave discontinued by Classic Erotica - review by Kate

Coochy's after shave powder is a product designed to be used after shaving to prevent irritation. Anyone who has ever decided to go bare and shave some or all of their pubic hair has probably experienced irritation at some point occasionally followed by razor burn aka those annoying little red spots. Coochy's after shave powder successfully eliminated that problem for me and left my skin feeling softer than I remember it feeling it a long time! I haven't used this powder anywhere other than my bikini zone because I don't have a problem with shaving causing irritation anywhere else. This powder can be used all over, use it on any area that you have shaved and apply it directly after shaving, it's also unisex!

This powder is extremely fine, for those familiar with the texture and consistency of mineral makeup, that's what this reminds me of. For those who aren't familiar with that I will try my best to describe it better so that you can attempt to visualize it. The powder is finer than talcum powder and it also doesn't feel chalky like I find talcum powder to feel. It feels very thin, light and silky. The powder isn't white instead it is a very light pink, when I applied it I couldn't even really see it on my skin which was nice. When I applied too much my skin did look powdery but rubbing it in place with the powder puff that's included seemed to solve that problem! I'm happy to report that this powder doesn't leave any shimmer or sparkle on your skin, it's a plain powder that blends into the skin nicely. It's easy to apply, the powder comes with a puff used to apply the product. The puff is stored in the container above the separating piece that has the sifting holes, I just turn mine upside down (make sure the lid is on properly), unscrew the cap, remove the powder puff and I'm good to go! This powder goes on smooth it leaves your skin feeling the same, smooth and incredibly soft!

Coochy's after shave powder is not flavored because it isn't edible so ingesting this is not recommended and would probably make you quite sick. It probably will not be used anywhere near your mouth unless you are using it after shaving your face in which case I would recommend that you avoid getting it near your mouth and wash your hands after use. The scent is very, well...powdery. It doesn't smell like baby powder, it reminds me of an old jar of talcum powder that my grandmother held onto for way too long. You know how perfume changes to a yellow color and smells really bad and nothing like it once did when you've had it way too long? That's what this powder smells like, very old. It doesn't smell clean, light, floral or fresh instead I found it to smell heavier and like old vintage powder. The scent wasn't enough to turn me off of this great product, it seems to go unnoticed after I've applied it, I just wash my hands and that's enough to take care of it.

This after shave powder has far exceeded my expectations because in all honesty, I didn't really think that this would work effectively. I was pretty skeptical, I've always used deodorant to prevent annoying little red ingrown hair bumps and that has always done the trick. I've been using that for years and it's never failed me but this product seemed unique so I thought it'd be fun to try something new and I'm glad that I did because it produced great results! I shave everything, the only hair that I have is the hair on my head. So to be more specific, I shave my legs, underarms, arms and bikini area completely. I have Keratosis Pilaris and I shave my arms because I find that it helps me to better target the areas that need extra exfoliation. Since using this powder I have realized that some of the bumps that appeared to be more Keratosis Pilaris were actually ingrown hairs from shaving. Using this powder after I have shaved and used JO Dona body polish seems to have reduced the appearance of those pesky little bumps. The powder has worked to eliminate irritation and ingrown hairs while JO's Dona body polish has been an awesome exfoliator and helped to reduce the appearance of my Keratosis Pilaris. I decided to review this product on a buy out assignment so knowing that it was on it's way I did something that didn't come easy to me, I didn't shave for 2 weeks. I wanted to really put this powder to the test and I'm glad that I did. After shaving and rinsing off my shave creme I patted my skin dry and applied the powder with the included puff. I only needed to shake the jar once and that covered the puff with more than enough powder for the area that I was using it on. No aggressive rubbing is needed, you don't need to rub it in, just dab it on with the puff, fully covering the freshly shaved area and you're all set! I usually shave as soon as stubble appears but I decided to give this powder a 7 day test and wait a full week before shaving again. Day 1: Silky smooth, the softest that my skin has ever felt. Day 2: My skin was still impossibly smooth. Day 3: Stubble started to appear but not a red bump in sight. Rather than to continue to break it down day by day let me just say that red bumps didn't appear at any point, no chafing, no sign of irritation and no annoying itch once my hair started to grow back in. This product started working the second I applied it and it only got better from there on out! A little goes a long way so this jar will last awhile, if you're looking to eliminate the annoying after effects of shaving: irritatation, ingrown hairs and chafing and you want to feel your skin at it's absolute softest, I strongly reccomend this product! It's easy to use, it works fast, efficiently, it doesn't stain fabrics that it comes into contact with and it's long lasting. What more could you want?

Coochy's after shave powder only comes in one size and that size is .46 oz. This jar is the perfect size for this product because I can see this lasting awhile since I only need a small amount after each shave. The powder is packaged in a clear hard plastic jar with a black lid that you remove by twisting it off. The metallic blue label wrap around the jar and features Coochy's logo on the front with after shave protection powder written underneath. An identical label is also on the lid of the jar. The wrap around label lists all of the ingredients for this product on the back of the jar. Inside the jar is the small, white fluffy powder puff that I found a little annoying to hold onto, if you're clumsy you may drop it a few times since it has no tab or handle to hold onto it, instead I have to carefully grab the edge of the puff. The powder has a sticker seal over the dispensing holes that I peeled back and removed completely since it seemed impossible to reseal once I had peeled it. The plastic insert that is inside can be pried out but I don't recommend that, it isn't necessary and it will likely create a huge mess and waste product. The plastic insert has 21 small holes that the fine powder easily sifts through. I find the easiest way to dispense the right amount of powder without spilling is to have the lid on snug and shake the jar. Remove the lid, take out the puff and it will be covered with powder that has sifted through the holes and onto the puff and it's ready to use. This jar is the perfect size for travel, just make sure that the lid is on snug to avoid a powdery disaster!

This after shave powder does not contain phthalates, it is free of parabens and it is also sugar free . The label states that it is suitable for all body types, it is also unisex. This powder is made in the USA and it is not tested on animals so it is a cruelty free product. The label gives the following instructions for using this product: Delicate, intimate powder with soothing aloe vera. Use after shaving, bathing or anytime. Absorbs moisture and relieves chafing. There is no expiry date on the jar but since this is such a great product, I'm sure that I will use it up pretty fast. The ingredients are also printed on the label and they are listed as:

As I've already mentioned, this product exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical that this powder either wouldn't work or that it wouldn't work as great as it has. For many years I have always used deodorant after shaving, applying it to the freshly shaved area has always worked like a charm for me. It's kept those annoying little red bumps away and made my skin soft and smooth. When Eden got this product in, I was curious. Sure, using deodorant has been my go to after shave care for years but I also love trying new things. This powder did everything for me that deodorant does except it did make my skin feel even softer which I didn't think was possible. The only big con for me is that I don't like the smell but since any that may have gotten on my hands is washed off afterwards, the old powdery smell isn't enough to keep me away. Deodorant is more accessible for me, it's something that I always have but this is a great price for a great product so I can see myself adding this to future orders.

This powder is easy to use and the perfect size for me to carry in my cosmetics bag when I travel. It didn't stain any material that it came into contact with. The bottom line is that this product delivered everything that it was meant to do. I don't recommend the deodorant trick to everyone because everyone is different and some may find that scented deodorants will actually cause irritation, just because I haven't had any problems doesn't mean I recommend it. What has worked perfectly for me may not work for the next person, we're all different! I can say that I do see this jar lasting me for awhile so if you are curious to try it for this price, give it a chance. It may not work for you however I too was a skeptic and the results I achieved pleasantly surprised me!
