Satin sugar hair and body powder for lighter hues

Dry Shampoo to Save the Day!!!
This dry shampoo smells like lemons and can be used on hair or on the body to keep you smelling fresh and clean. I used it on my hair and body and found it absorbed easily and worked wonderfully on my roots to absorb oil. It travels well and is easy to use.
Smells nice, travels easy, works well.
It has taken me some time to decide to try dry shampoo. I was a little nervous about how it would look in my hair and if it would even work. However, several friends on mine and co-workers swear by the stuff so I decided to find one to test out. Cake's Satin Sugar Dry Shampoo for lighter hues seemed to get good reviews online so I thought it would be a good product to start with.
The purpose of dry shampoo is to refresh and renew your hair between washes. It is a powdery substance that is designed to absorb the excess oil in your hair especially at the roots to help your hair look clean and fabulous. This product could be used by pretty much anyone and is designed for people on the go who may need to go a day or two between washing their hair. Or perhaps you hit the snooze button too many times or have children or an early job and find yourself without the time to shower before leaving the house. Maybe it's your lazy Sunday and you don't want to shower but also don't want to look like you did not shower.
I wish I had known of this product before I went to Bonnaroo this past year. It cost $7 a day to shower and there was always a line for the showers so I had to pick between showering or missing a band play. Not to mention all of my friends who were there with me just used either solar showers or wet wipes. You cannot really effectively wash your hair like that and by the end of the 3 day weekend my hair was pretty funky. This dry shampoo would have helped out and made my hair smell good as well. This product can also be used on your body by sprinkling it and rubbing it into your skin. This would have been a huge help at Bonnaroo or other similar festivals.
There are not any product precautions with this dry shampoo other than a little goes a long way and you don't want to put too much in your hair. There is a minimal risk of allergic reaction but you can try out a little of the powder on your hand first to ensure no reaction before putting it on your scalp.
This powder poured out of the bottle easily. The top of the container has different holes in it to control the amount of dry shampoo dispensed. I shook a little into my hand as pictured above. The powder is very fine and I was easily able to put it on the roots of my hair and rub it in. It was very light and not sticky at all. I was able to get it distributed in my hair and it did not stick to my hand at all.
This product contains: Corn starch, Silica (an additive used in powdered foods or beauty products), Fragrance, Caprylyl Glycol (a preservative used in beauty products), Propylene Glycol (a moisturizer used in cosmetics), Water, Chamomile extract, Calendula extract, Benzyl Benzoate (used to preserve the smell of fragrances), Limonene (a citrus compound), Eugenol (an antiseptic from clove oil), Coumarin (an aroma enhancer), Citral (a lemon scented oil).
This product is not designed to be edible so I did not taste it. It has a nice lemon smell probably due to all of the different plant extracts that are in the dry shampoo. It was not overwhelming and not feminine enough that guys would be opposed to using the product. It smells very fresh and clean and does not make you smell like household cleaner. The scent is very light.
I did not expect too much from any dry shampoo but I have to say that I was completely impressed with this product. I have dry hair that tends to get frizzy in the wintertime so I tend to only wash it every other day. I use a lot of conditioning products on it to keep the frizz down but that can make my roots look greasy and dirty even though they are not. I used this product and just love it. Not only did it work incredibly well and make my roots look as though I had washed them but it also blended into my hair so easily. I was nervous that I would end up looking like I was wearing a powdered wig but that is not at all what happened. The dry shampoo really did absorb the oil from my hair and then kind of vanished. It also smelled fresh and clean. I have used this product a few times now and have not stopped talking about it with my co-workers. It's a great deal for the price and a little bit of it works on my hair so it will last for quite a while.
The dry shampoo came packaged in the container shown above. It hold 1.7 oz of product which will last for quite some time. The container is about 4" tall and about 6 1/2" in circumference. It easily fits in your hand and the container is suitable for travel as it does not leak and is small so it's easy to tuck it into your gym bag or whatever. The packaging does have instructions on it which say to dispense a small amount of powder into your hand and rub it on your roots. You can also rub this on your body as well.
Follow-up commentary 1 month after original review
I was doubtful when I ordered the dry shampoo. I had low expectations and I was very surprised at how well it works. My job gets kind of hectic at the holidays and I had a day earlier this week where I overslept and had about 10 minutes to get ready. I was in a panic, but I used the dry shampoo and actually got compliments on how great my (unwashed) hair looked. I love this product and recommend it to everyone.
