(Ginger/Pomegranate) Pleasing to Your Body and Senses - Part One

As long as you don't mind using a product that has an oily feel to it while you are showering, you will enjoy this product. Once you step out of the shower and dry off, the oil absorbs into your skin and moisturizes it.

The scent is strong when you are first using it but dies down within minutes so that you can use it even if you don't use fruity perfumes - because by the time you spray your perfume on, this should have faded enough to not interfere with it.

Use

According to Your Dictionary.com, the term sensual is an adjective. The definition states Sensual describes something that is pleasing to your body and your senses. The example that they use is "An example of sensual is a soft fabric that is enjoyable to touch".

Classic Erotica is actually the company that products the "Simply Sensual" line and they did a great job naming this line of products. I found all three products that I have used so far to be very pleasing to my body and my senses. In fact, I got so engrossed in using them that I thrust aside my normal scientific approach of measuring out the product and only using it on one side of my body for comparison every time I used it - I simply HAD to indulge myself. I could never bring myself to be be scientific about observations.

This product is the body scrub that you use in your bath or shower to "smooth, invigorate and rejuvenate" your skin. The label states that it designed for all skin types and should be used 2 to 3 times per week.

The ingredients are:
Sucrose, Isopropyl Palmitate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Beeswax, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Silica, Fragrance (Parfum), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Anthemis Nobillis (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Benzospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Caprylyl Glycol, Carthamus Tinctorious (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamite, Gossypium Herbaceum (cotton) Seed Oil, Laureth-4, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Macadamia Terrifolia (Macadamia Nut) Seed OIl, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed OIl, Steareth-20, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Water (Eau), Phenoxyethanol, Red 17 (CI 26100), Violet 2 (CI 60725)

As always, please test this on a small patch of skin on your body if you suspect you may have a reaction.

This item is made in the USA and has had no animal testing done with it.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Of all of the scrubs I've tried from Eden Fantasys, this one reminds me most of the Cake Milk Made Body Smoothing White Sugar Scrub. With this product, you can definitely see and feel the sugar granules in it, however, it also has an oily base to it. This oil feels like using Avon's "Skin So Soft" oil based products on your body. It doesn't feel greasy but has a very definite oily feel to it.

This oil also makes the product stick to your body when you apply it.

Here are some photos of the product:

Taste / Aroma

Let me start out by saying that there is NO chemical smell to this product. Lest you might have missed that...let me repeat..there is NO chemical smell to this. If I could have dancing bunnies emoticon or something like that in this review I would because 90% of the products I get seem to have some sort of a chemical after-smell to them which either gives me a headache or removes the joy of the original scent.

Both my husband and my daughter agree that when you open this jar, the first thing you smell is the pomegranate. If you smell it for more than 3-5 seconds, your nose will pick up on the ginger, but the strength of the ginger is just enough to tone down the pomegranate so that it isn't overpowering.

Me? I have never really smelled pomegranate before. I have smelled ginger and can pick out that scent. However, I do smell a very sweet fruity scent which I guess really is pomegranates. Whatever the scent is - I could almost eat it.

My only problem with the aroma of this product is that while it is very strong while in the jar, once you apply it and wash it off, it becomes a very light scent that you can't really identify as a particular scent but know that somehow it smells good.
    • Light smell
    • Smells good

Performance

I must admit that I am struggling in trying to describe the performance of this product and do it effectively.

I'm going to start with the aroma. The aroma is very strong in the jar and when you are using it on your body, but then it lightens up and goes away after a fairly short period of time. Normally, I do not like this at all because I love my fresh fruity scents. However, my husband and my daughter both pointed out to me that this could be a plus since in the wintertime I like to use the fragrance Tabu and this product would not interfere with that scent since this scent would be mostly gone. In addition, I was not using the perfumed body oil by this scent, which would extend the length of the aroma's strength.

But the part I really struggle with describing is how this works in the shower, because I fear I will drive people away if they don't read all the way through.

It goes like this, the product feels oily when you use it in the shower and you may try to continue to rinse it off after it is gone because you feel the oils. In this way, it reminds me of the Skin So Soft product I mentioned up above. However, once you realize that it is going to feel oily and stop trying to rinse it off and just get out of the shower and towel dry, the oil absorbs into your body and you don't feel greasy or oily any longer. Instead, your skin simply feels soft...VERY soft.

When I was in the shower, I thought it was cool to see how the water beaded up on my skin because of the oils in this and the shower creme.

So I am pleased with the overall performance of this product. I am not pleased with the oily feeling that I have while in the shower, however, it doesn't last long and now that I know to expect it, I can simply enjoy the wonderful scent and know that once I dry off, my skin will be very soft.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Long lasting

Packaging

This scrub looks bigger than it actually is because the jar lid is about 1" deep. However, for the [italic} current Eden price of $12.99 for 7 ounces, you don't feel like you've been ripped off if you pay full price for this scrub.

I wanted you to get an idea of the size, so I photographed the scrub with a container of sour cream.

I also wanted to give you a comparison next to other products that Eden Fantasys currently carries. Unfortunately, when I took this photo, I had forgotten about the Cake scrub I mention up above because I didn't care for it and gave it to my daughter. Sorry about that!

As you may notice, Simply Sensual is on the left, the new Dona line is in the middle and on the far right is a scrub from Not Soap Radio.
    • Very informative packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

The product lists that it has pheromones in it. I went to the product's website to read more about pheromones and decided to simply share their link titled "Why Phereomones?" here. If you are interested in learning more about this, their page is the best page to start reading.

Personal comments

I wanted to try and give you a better description of the fragrance so I did a search for perfumes that have both ginger and pomegranate in them. Three scents came up in my search and they are:

Aziyade by Parfum d'Empire which is made in France. This is/was a unisex perfume.
Flirt by Prescriptives for women.
Free Flowing Man by Puma which was made for men.

Experience

Let me close this review by stating how much I love this product. I currently have three products in this line the body scrub, the bath and shower creme and the body lotion. The first two items going into my cart for my purchase this coming week are both the body oil and the body butter. Shock of all shocks, I'd even be willing to pay full price for them, even though I won't have to since Eden currently has a sale going on.
