Tantric candle - body massage candle discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by Peggi

There is a lot of rave about Tantric candles by Cal Exotic, talking about how fantastic they are! They are targeted at anyone who loves candles, setting the mood, and candles which can be used as massage oils when melted.

The Tantric candle, much like most other massage candles, starts off as a complete solid. In this stage, the wax is firm and white, the wick in the center. It looks like any other candle, really, aside from the spoon you will find in your tin. Once the spoon is removed, you will not know the difference. If you feel the candle, there is a slight greasy film covering the surface.

In the melted state, the wax turns into an oil. The oil is very transparent, almost clear. It is not too thick and can be messy if you are not careful. It doesn't cool off too quickly so you will have plenty of time to pour it onto your partner or yourself and rub it in.

On the skin, it runs pretty easily, especially if you use larger amounts at a time. The best way to use this candle is to use the spoon and scoop out small amounts at a time of the liquid. Once you pour them on the desired location, rub in and apply more as needed. Adding more than a couple of spoonfuls to areas smaller than the back may result in dripping!

As an oil, this candle does leave a slight film on the skin which may be bothersome to some, but it isn't very noticeable. It is the slight, greasy feeling you can get when using any type of massage oil. It does clean up with a wash cloth and water or soap and water, but the skin is left softer than before after rinsing it off!

Tantric candles come in 3 scents: vanilla, passion fruit & vanilla, or orange & vanilla. I chose the passion fruit and vanilla. When you first open the lid to the tin you can instantly smell the candle. Prior to the first burning, the candle is much stronger, almost too strong. During and after the first burning, the candle is a lot more mild. It does not smell like vanilla at all, and has a mild fruity scent, though not necessarily passion fruit. When the candle is burning it can be smelled through a small room or a few feet away in a larger room.

This candle is not edible, but doesn't have much of a flavor at all if you get any of it in your mouth. Solid, it tastes a bit chalky, though.

As a massage candle, this product works very well. It leaves the skin feeling soft, it functions well as an oil, and it has a strong scent for those who enjoy stronger smelling candles. You do have to reapply the oil often during a massage over a larger area like the back, because it absorbs into the skin quickly. This is actually a good thing, as it would be a lot messier if it didn't absorb quickly.

This candle comes in a black tin with the company logo, product name and info on the lid in orange with an orange design. The bottom of the tin has a sticker with the basic directions and ingredients as well as more company contact info. The lid is very easy to remove, coming off easily with just one hand. The tin is very discreet and holds 6oz worth of product.

Personally, I prefer both my suntouched candle as well as my Sex Kitten Wicked Wax candle over this candle for a few reasons. First of all, though the scent is a lot stronger, I can't smell the vanilla at all, and I don't particularly like the fruity scent to it. It's just off to me, and I don't like it at all. I also prefer edible massage candles, though I didn't dock the rating due to either of these factors. I do plan to try the other scents out and see if I like them more, as this works well as a massage candle. 5 out of 5 stars for function.
