Oh Venus, If Only Your Sweet Peach Scent Lingered Longer..

This had the potential to be my new favorite moisturizer, but sadly, it just didn’t work out for me! If you don’t live in an arid climate and/or are sensitive to smells, or perhaps just prefer something lightly scented, then this body butter might be perfect for you as the scent is neither overpowering nor artificial. It's actually quite a nice, delicate peachy scent!

Use

Smooth on this creamy body butter to lightly moisturize your skin and indulge yourself with the subtle scent of sweet peaches.

Ingredients:
• Aqua
• Shea Butter - used in many rich moisturizers and creams because, being high in fatty acids, it is an excellent skin emollient. It is quickly absorbed into the skin and doesn’t leave any greasy residue.
• Almond Oil – moisturizer
• Tea
Octyl Palmitate - a derivative of palm oil with a mild, skin-smoothing ester that has a ‘dry-slip’ feel that is very similar to silicone’s texture. Octyl Palmitate is comedogenic and can cause breakouts. In addition, it can also cause irritations.
• Ceteareth 20 - Ceteareth-20 to -40 help other ingredients to dissolve in a solvent in which they would not normally dissolve, may not be safe for injured or damaged skin.
• Cetearyl alcohol - an emollient: it makes skin soft and smooth. It is also used as an emulsifier to prevent the oil and liquid parts of a product from separating, and as a thickener, to change the consistency of liquid products.
Propylene Glycol - an organic alcohol, it is a humectant; it has the ability to attract water and help retain moisture. It is used to help stabilize formulations and help active ingredients to penetrate the skin, it also a solvent used to prevent creams from drying out. It can cause skin irritation and sensitization. It can also cause contact dermatitis in prone individuals.
• Steareth 30 – Surfactant – solubilizing agent
• Ceteth 10 – Surfactant - emulsifying agent
• Vitamin E – Antioxidant, skin conditioning agent
• Carbomer - Emulsion Stabilizer; viscosity increasing agent
Methyl Paraben - used as a preservatives in cosmetics and skin care products due to its antifungal properties. It is easily absorbed by the skin, however it is rapidly excreted through urine and doesn’t accumulate in the body. Controversy over paraben use in skincare and cosmetics due to accusations that parabens may cause cancer, accumulate in tissue and influence estrogen levels.
Diazolidinyl Urea - an antimicrobial preservative that acts as a formaldehyde releaser in cosmetics and personal care products, may be derived from animals (excreted from urine and other bodily fluids). May cause allergies and skin irritations.
• Fragrance
• May contain: fd&c yellow 3, fd&c blue 1 and fd&c red 33 – food colorings/dyes

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture of this product is really lovely. It is thicker than lotion but not as thick as most body butters I have used in the past. The consistency is uniform and the texture is smooth and silky. Scooping some out of the tub a few things that come to my mind are: thick pudding, Greek-style yogurt, and cannoli cream.

Peach Body Butter

Peach

After you rub this butter into your skin you are left with a slightly greasy feel. This greasy feeling lasts about 30-45 minutes (depending on the humidity levels and your skin) before it completely absorbs. Once absorbed your skin is left feeling silky soft.
    • Creamy
    • Smooth
    • Greasy at first

Taste / Aroma

The scent I chose was peach. While it does smell like real peaches, it’s more of a sweet, powdery peach scent compared to the fresh-picked peach smell of the Venus Peach Aromatic Mist. This is probably the result of the peach fragrance mingling with the almond oil and shea butter also in the product. Either way it is a pleasant, dessert-y scent. The aroma is neither overpowering nor sickeningly sweet like so many fruit scented products often are.

The scent of this peach body butter is strongest during application, especially when applied after a hot shower as the warmth of your body helps release the aromas of the product. It really makes me feel delicious and puts me in a cheery mood. Sadly, once dressed I really can’t smell this product unless I have my nose pressed up against my skin, and even then the scent is very light. After about an hour the peach notes fade out considerably and you are left with a light sugary scent. If you are sensitive to smells or do not want a strong smelling lotion, this body butter may be a good choice. However, if you want a more noticeable and long lasting scent this product will not meet those criteria.

It’s not meant to be edible, but I gave my wrist a lick after applying, it just tastes like lotion... Not horrible, but not something I’ll be tasting again anytime soon.
    • Light smell
    • Smells good

Performance

This body butter feels wonderful as it glides over your skin. As mentioned before it leaves you feeling slightly greasy until it is completely absorbed. The moisturizing properties of this product will depend on a couple factors, namely your skin’s condition and your climate. If you have severely dry skin, this product probably will not hydrate or repair any damage. Additionally, if you live in a dry climate like I do, you will likely find that this product will not keep you adequately moisturized. For example, I put this product on last night after a shower and two hours later my skin felt dry.
However, if you live in a humid climate or don’t really have dry skin to begin with, this body butter may work great for you.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Allergy concerns

Packaging

This body butter comes in an 8oz plastic tub with a large black screw-top lid. The size of the lid deceives you into thinking that there is more product than there actually is. The lid makes up a little less than half of the overall tub's size.

Peach 2

The label on the tub reads:
“Venus Peach Aromatic Body Butter A Natural Dead Sea Product 8oz
Fall in love with Venus moisturizing body butter made with natural dead sea salts to give you the softest skin year round.
Made in the U.S.A. Not Tested on Animals
Ingredients [See Use section]”

Ingredients

There is an image on the tub of a female torso with her arms crossed over her breasts. This is the only thing on the package that could even be considered suggestive.

Peach

As with all packages from EdenFantasys, this one arrived in a discreet cardboard box. The tub of body butter itself had a plastic safety seal securing the lid and, as spillage would have been highly unlikely, was not shipped inside in a plastic bag.
    • Does not leak
    • Would make a nice gift

Personal comments

I really wanted this product to work for me. My man has a thing for flowery, fruity, and “girly” scented things so I’ve been on the hunt for something that we’d both like. I was determined to find something that didn’t smell like Jolly Rancher candy and didn't knock me down with chemical end notes. When I found this line of products I was excited by the reviews saying how accurate the scents were. Overjoyed with the discovery of an authentic peach scented product, I ignored the reviews that cautioned of its fleeting aroma. While it does smell nice, the scent is barely noticeable and I haven’t gotten any compliments from my man about it (because he can't smell it!). Even combined with Venus’s Peach Fragrant Mist, you can’t smell it if you are more than an inch away.

My qualms with this product that resulted in it's 3 Star Rating:
- I was let down that it didn’t moisturize my skin like I feel body butter should
- Short-lived scent (even though I was aware of this before I bought it)
- Despite the label saying “A Natural Dead Sea Product”, there are no minerals or “dead sea” anythings mentioned in the ingredients list
- At almost $18 an 8oz tub, I think the ingredients (i.e. Methyl Paraben) could be a little more natural, however I did not have any adverse reactions to this product
Follow-up commentary
While this product still doesn't moisturize me like I need, I do live in a very dry climate so I don't know if I can really knock it that much for that.

I still adore how this product smells when I first put it on. Even though you can barely smell it after a while, its light, sweet scent does have a nicer smell than your typical unscented lotion.

Due to the cost and small quantity, I reserve this product for special occasions when I want to smell extra nice. I wish I could find a product that smelled this delicious and also lasted for a while!

Thanks I think it would work better for me in the summer. It's winter and we've got the fireplace going most of the time so it is very dry here right now.
