Sea - lubricant by Sliquid, LLC - review by Ryuson

A healty alternative

Wow. I feel like I've been missing out on so much, using bulk, cheap lubes. While this is a bit more expensive than a lot of other lubes out there, I feel that it's worth it 100%. The awesome ingredients help to rejuvenate and soften your skin, all while you have fun. I feel a lot safer knowing that I;m not putting any harsh chemicals into my body.
Tasteless, scentless, awesome ingredients, long lasting, leaves skin soft
Can't be used in the shower

extremely useful review

This product is sold and intended to be used as a lubricant. It's job it to make things slick and sexy, and it does a great job at that. It can be used during intercourse, with condoms, or during solo play. Lube isn't just for those who can't produce enough natural lubrication, but everyone can use it just to make things go a bit more smoothly.

This product is great to use as a couple because it's small enough to pack in a bag and is easy to dispense. It's not very invasive and it's easy to forget that you're using lube at all sans the extra slickness. It won't use interfere with condoms and even will help reduce the change of them breaking due to friction.

Solo, this is a great lube. If you're looking for something to use with insertables, this is a great way to get a silky glide. Being a woman, I can't personally vouch for how this works during male masturbation, but I feel like it would be just as effective.

If you're sensitive to a lot of material, Sliquid Sea is an awesome way to go. It has one of the shortest ingredients lists of any lube I've come across, and I don't see anything listed that is considered a common allergen. They are as follows;

Purified water, Plant Cellulose (from cotton), Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners), Carrageegan, Nori & Wakame (Seaweed Extracts), Potassium Sorbate
    • Bridal gift
    • Masturbation
    • Sex

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This lube is a bit thicker than water, but still is a bit runny. It's viscous enough that it won't run once you spread it around, but if it's in a more concentrated blob it may not stay where you put it too well. It's not grainy or thick feeling at all when you spread it around, and it just leaves a very smooth, slick surface behind.

It's super easy to pour out of the bottle, and if you end up getting a bit on the container it's simple to wash it off. The bottle is made of smooth plastic, so it may get slick if your hands get too lube-y. I really like the thickness because, while it does pour easily, you don't end up getting way too much at one time.

It's not greasy either during use or after it dries, and it doesn't leave a film or residue behind it. I wouldn't describe it as sticky or tacky at all, just thin and slick.

    • Smooth

Taste / Aroma

I have been on the search for a truly unscented and tasteless lube for a while, and to my shock and surprise, I finally found one! I feel like scented products often smell nice at first, but once the smell starts mixing with any other fluids in the equation the scent gets distorted and doesn't really appeal to me anymore. This lube truly has no scent at all to it, so I don't have to worry about that problem.

Another bone I have to pick with lube companies is that when I buy a flavorless lube, I don't want it to taste BAD. BAD is a flavor, companies. This natural lube has no flavor at all to it, which I find to be super easy to use. This means that if you feel like kissing any area after sex, you don't have to worry about having a lingering, nasty aftertaste.
    • No smell
    • No taste

I found that this product lasts between 15 and 20 minutes without needing reapplication, but that it depends a lot on how much natural lubricant your body is producing, how intense the session is, and if you switch toys. After drying off, it's super easy to just reactivate this with water, but you can also just reapply more lube from the bottle. It feels very natural, almost like it's just more of your own lubrication.

Because this lube is water based, you can easily wash off any excess with soap and water. Just a tip, though, if it absorbs into your skin it leaves it super soft and nice. You also can just wipe of any excess with a towel for super easy clean up, and let the left over dry and leave your skin soft.

Because of the water base and the water solubility, this lube is useless in the bath or shower. If you're using it in the shower it all washes down the drain before you can get any fun out of it, which is a terrible waste of such high quality, awesome lube. Silicone and oil based lubes are better choices for shower play.

Water based lube is compatible with all materials, and it's very easy to wash off of toys. Unfortunately it doesn't leave your toys silky soft, but just running them under the faucet is enough to remove the lube from their surface. I would highly recommend this lube, but if you want something that's for the shower or for anal sex (no natural lubrication) you may want to go with something silicone based or at least thicker.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Performance

This lube comes in an attractive, 4.2 fl. oz bottle. The bottle isn't huge, but it may be too big to carry on to an airplane or to take on vacation with you. It's a good size to keep in your bedside table, however. I personally really enjoy the labeling and its minimalist approach. If someone saw this in your bag it isn't apparent what it is, but the bottle does say that it's a lubricant if you read it.

It lists the ingredients and a small blurb about the product, but there aren't any nude women or lewd images of this lube. I wouldn't hesitate to wrap this up and give it as a gift. I also haven't had any issues at all with this bottle leaking, which is always a huge plus.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Very informative packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

Special Features

Here I'm going to go into details about the few ingredients that this contains; they're all super good for you, or at least neutral.
Water You all know what water is, pure H2O

Plant Cellulose An added thickener to keep it from being runny

Cyamopsis enables the plant cellulose fiber to move and feel slippery

Carageenan, Nori, and Wakame These are the seaweeds that this 'sea' based lube is named for. They contain vitamin E and work to help skin tone and color, and leave skin feeling soft and rejuvenated.

Potassium sorbate A stabilizer, natural

Citric Acid Anti fungal, stabilizer

Even though I'm not sensitive to glycerin or parabens like a lot of women are, after looking at the ingredients lists of the two lubes I previously owned I decided that it was time for a change. Even though they didn't burn me or give me infections, I feel like it still can't be good for me to be putting those things into my body.

I'd had Sliquid Sea on my Wishlist since a few weeks after I came to Eden, but I had so far been taking the Costco approach to lubricants; a lot of low quality stuff for less money. But I figured, hey, I'm spending my points anyways.

I can now say that I am a complete convert to Sliquid Sea. I am never going to go back to the lubes with ingredients I can't say, no matter how much less per ounce they are. I can sincerely give this lube a 5 star rating.
