Mighty Mona

Mona 2 is one of the best toys I own. Its deep and rumbly vibrations are unparalleled and everything from the shape of the shaft, the control panel and the handle are comfortable. It's fast to recharge and keeps a charge well, throughout many uses. Lelo really delivered by making use of this toy an experience.

Use

The Lelo Mona 2 is a luxury, rechargeable, silicone and plastic G-spot vibrator. It has great battery life and a host of patterns and levels. And it's strong.

Primarily designed for women, I found the Mona to be a super G-spotter with intense, rumbly internal vibrations yet also a decent external vibe. As a clit vibrator, it will please those who enjoy a broad, diffuse surface. Strength is not a problem here, though, so the vibrations will certainly be felt across the entire vulva. As a result, the Mona 2 may be a good addition as a couples' vibrator. Its pointed tip could fit between two people fairly easily and certainly its broad range of vibration power will please and tease, no matter your needs or the area of your body. I, however, foresee myself hogging it for solo time!

The Mona 2 is not designed for anal penetration, though the neck slims in the middle, just above the control panel.

G-spot vibes comparison

For me, as a person who doesn't care about patterns, the Mona 2 made me an absolute convert. The patterns feel amazing and have great variety. The Mona 2 also meets my criteria for being functionally waterproof, though the strip of silicone protecting the DC jack won't stand up to immersion.

Material / Texture

I've collected a number of silicone toys, but this is my first Lelo.

Lelo's silicone is markedly different in depth and texture from other silicones -- it feels so smooth without being shiny or sticky/tacky in any way. I wouldn't call it velvety, even though it's still matte. Also, the layer of silicone over the body of the toy doesn't seem very thick and as a result, the entire toy is completely firm. The shaft doesn't bend at all from any interior joints in the toy.

The Mona 2 has absolutely no texture on the shaft, just miles and miles of this gorgeous, premium silicone. The tip of the shaft, about the first 2.5" inches, forms a slight bulb that acts as the G-spotter -- I found this oval shape to be quite stimulating and provides some sensation upon penetration, despite not really being texture. There is a slight seam on the sides of the shaft, but it can barely seen, let alone felt.

Design / Shape / Size

Mona 2 is a fair-sized G-spotter whose girth mainly comes from the 'bump' on the end. The slimmer shaft beyond the bump is not incredibly substantial, so it won't provide a stretching sensation. The bump does, however, sit directly on my G-spot! Simply inserting it farther or more shallowly will help for anyone with a different anatomy than mine.

Measurements:
Length of silicone shaft: 5.25"
Total length: 7.75"
Girth: 4.5"

The design of the control panel is a peach. This is my first experience with a toy that has a full control panel, with arrows and pluses and minuses -- I love it. It allows you to fully control where you want to go in the patterns and functions, up or down in strength. This makes Mona 2 wonderful to hand over to a partner who can tease you or help you find exactly what you're looking for during solo time.

The control panel glows a soft white light and will blink whenever you press a button. It's not too bright, just a classy white LED but it's certainly noticeable in the dark.

To turn the toy on, simply press the + button (on the right, if you're holding Mona 2 upright in front of yourself). To turn off, simply press and hold -. To get into the functions, simply press the top arrow and cycle through functions 1 - 7 with the top or bottom arrow.

3. Low revving
4. High revving

7. Strange pulse? Hard to describe!

The noise:
The noise, however, is not noticeable. Wow, this is a quiet toy. Outside of the body and ramped up to full power, it's 2 bees. However, inside your body...it's about 1 bee, very low-pitched. It's hardly noticeable! Lelo did a good job with this one.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Charging:
The Mona 2 is a joy in terms of rechargeable toys -- Mona charges in a little over an hour. When you first plug the DC jack in and then into the wall, the control panel will light up with a steady, white light. This light turns out when Mona's done. After that, Mona 2 lasted me four forty minute to one hour sessions and doesn't appear to need to charge again -- excellent!

Performance:
So I did something different to really assay Mona 2's power -- I did a water vibe test with three toys, each on their highest setting except Salsa. I then dipped the tip of each toy into a bowl of water. Hopefully, you can then visualize the power.

I thought this was necessary since the frequency of each toy is pretty different and holding it in your hand obviously isn't possible over the internet! The toys I tested are shown in my comparison picture, above: the Zini Zook, the We-Vibe Salsa and of course, the Lelo Mona 2.

In terms of strength: Salsa (5 vrooms) >> Mona 2 (5 vrooms) > Zook (4 vrooms).

Results of the Water Test:
I'd rate both the Mona 2 and the Salsa as 5 vroom toys, but as you can see, the Salsa is a higher frequency and moves around more due to its small size. This is the Salsa on its second-highest setting (it sprayed too much water around!). You can tell the Zook is a less powerful toy, but of course keep in mind that it has a clitoral arm gives a synergistic effect in terms of strength.

While the Mona 2 doesn't have a clitoral arm to make it seem stronger, it doesn't need it. I think it has two vibrating motors inside of it, which can be distinctly felt when placed on patterns. In a pulse pattern, you can feel first the right side pulse, then the left side. Probably these two motors working together makes the Mona 2 feel as strong as it does.

Also, the Salsa is a clit toy -- it needs slighty buzzier vibrations to make itself felt on the outside of your body. The Mona 2, on the other hand, both needs and provides the extremely rumbly vibrations that make it so mind-bendingly powerful when inserted. This was the problem with the Bloom: its frequency was so buzzy and surface-level, I couldn't feel it inside me. At all.

Care and Maintenance

The Mona 2 is only splash-proof, but the position of the port on the extreme end of the toy makes me feel better -- I don't feel that any amount of wet play would endanger the Mona 2, unless you plan on taking it in the tub and fully submerging it (don't!). Luckily, the strip of plastic that covers the port seems to be well-anchored to the toy itself, so you can't lose it.

I have other multi-material toys whose seams between plastic to silicone aren't quite flush with each other -- not so with the Mona 2. I don't even need to pay any special attention to it while cleaning, there's really no ridge to trap bacteria! Otherwise, I feel that warm soap and water are all I need, or even just some wipes. A 10% bleach solution is acceptable and can really erase all scents. Do not place the Mona 2 in the dishwasher for cleaning, as the motorized components won't stand up to this. Likewise, do not boil.

Packaging
So this is Lelo's packaging!

Actually, I must be spoiled, because it didn't blow me away. The black box top is easily displaced and doesn't feel flush with the bottom half. Even though the Mona 2 sits very comfortably in a black foam insert, I feel if the box were knocked over that'd be the end of Mona. Likewise, the charger and accessories don't sit in a closed box, it's really just a section that has a paper flap over it.

I'd recommend Leaf packaging over Lelo's and definitely Lux's gorgeous black cigar boxes. But I'm not really complaining! It's a very elegant presentation and certainly I appreciate the accessories. Mona 2 comes with her own black travel bag and a free sample of lubricant. I keep my Mona 2 in the black box with the purple sleeve over top to secure everything.

Follow-up commentary
There should be a 'love it more' option.

Mona 2 is worth every penny. It's even worth it if you think you're a rabbit or just clitoral vibrator girl (that's the way I thought I was). It changed my mind, I thought G-spot vibes were boring, they aren't! I would trade Mona for the rest of my collection -- because not only can Mona do clitoral vibration only, it can do what any and every sex toy SHOULD do: it will feel incredibly good during, every single time, it will make you orgasm, and it will do this reliably.
