Luxury G-spot vibrator discontinued

Mona, I am not impressed.

If I could give this 3.5 stars, I would. 3 stars seems harsh, but 4 seems too much at this point. This toy has some things going for it, and I'm hoping that maybe I can learn to like it a like bit more, though I'm not sure that will happen.

Use

This toy is intended for use as a g-spot stimulator, and that is really the best use for it, there aren't any others except for pretty mild clitoral stimulation. It is waterproof, so that adds to the possibilities of use and makes cleaning easier. It is pretty quiet, but could stand to be quieter. It can be heard under covers, at any vibration level, and at it's highest could possibly be heard through a door. It claims to be very powerful, but I will get to that further into my review. According to the Lelo website (where I had to check, since this definitely did not come with enough info about the product): "MONA™ 2 is the upgraded version of LELO’s popular full-feeling G-Spot vibrator, now with 100% increased vibration power alongside fully-waterproof versatility. Made with smooth, body- safe silicone, MONA™ 2 boasts six powerful stimulation modes and curves in all the right places. No other G-Spot massager offers a comparable presence to MONA™ 2, always delivering the most satisfying experiences within. As always with LELO, MONA™ 2 arrives in a beautiful gift box and is fully covered by a 1-Year Warranty and 10-Year Quality Guarantee."

Material / Texture

The material is very smooth silicone. It is velvety feeling, not sticky like some silicone toys can feel. However, that is not to say that it won't pick up lint, I'm sure it will. It is not a texture toy, it is pretty much smooth all over. It is seamless and rigid, which should help with g-spot stimulation. It has no odor, and it is entirely non-porous. Because it is silicone, that makes cleaning it much easier.

Design / Shape / Size

This is not a heavy toy, so it shouldn't make your wrist hurt while holding it. It weighs half a pound. It has a total length of almost 8 inches, 5 1/4" of which are insertable. It has a circumference of 4 1/2". It has a white plastic handle, with 4 buttons, and a slot on the very bottom to plugs the charger into.

It's a bit big to travel with but, if you wanted to keep it in a suitcase or something, you could. It is not realistic, in that it does not have a defined head of any kind so it doesn't look exactly like a penis. But, it is still undoubtedly phallic, and clearly a vibrator. It has visible buttons, is and not discreet if left out. The size would make it okay for most users. If you like really girthy toys, you might not love the size of this, but at the same time, it could be a little too girthy for someone totally new to penetration. The shape of it does make it ideal for g-spot stimulation, though you should know your own anatomy. If your g-spot is deeper than the 5 1/4" of this can reach, then you might have some difficulty with this toy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy has 4 buttons: -, +, ^, and v.

The - and + are used to turn the vibrations up higher or lower in strength, and are also used to turn the Mona on and off. The arrow buttons are used to cycle through the vibration patterns. It is honesty difficult for me to describe the patterns of this toy. It is hard for me to differentiate them, by ear or touch. I can't tell how many there are, and it does not say anywhere that I could find on the package or booklet how many settings this toy has. This would be good for people who like a lot of variety in vibration patterns, though I personally stick with strong, steady vibrations. The patterns themselves are difficult to describe, not even just how many there are but the pattern to them. A lot of them seem pretty sporadic to me, though I am sure there is some sort of pattern to each of them. I've heard that it's supposed to have 8 vibration patterns, but it's honestly difficult for me to figure them out and count them after the first few, they get really random. Though, according to the Lelo website, it has 6 modes.I love that this toy is rechargeable, that is one thing that it really has going for it. Plus, it doesn't really seem to discharge when not in use. I can charge it, put it down for a week, and then turn it on and it works. When charging, the lights on the buttons will blink blue. When it is completely charged the lights stop blinking and will continue glowing blue. It takes up to an hour or two to fully charge.

Care and Maintenance

This is easy to clean. It's silicone, but it is a vibrator, so it can't be boiled as that would damage the motor. Soap and water would work just fine. If you wanted you could use toy cleaner, or a 10% bleach solution. It comes with a storage pouch, so it can be stored inside of that, with the charger. I keep mine store in the pouch with it's charger, so that it doesn't get lost or mixed up, and it fits with room to spare.

Packaging

This toy comes in a box, with and image of the toy on the outside of it.

Inside of this box is a black case inside of that with the toy and charger in it. The black case that it comes in is discreet, and makes it able to be given as a gift, I think. It says Lelo on the top, but it is black and sleek looking. It would be nice for storage, but for me it is far too bulky too keep for storage, when I like to keep my toys pretty much all stored in the same place. The Mona comes with a charger (as it is rechargeable), a storage pouch, a small booklet on the Mona (which I found to be lacking in information), a Lelo authenticity/registration card, and a packet of Lelo personal moisturizer. This toy has a 1 year warranty and a 10 year guarantee.

I will not be using the moisturizer, since I went over the ingredients list and was not impressed. For one, it contains aloe, which is great but if you have an allergy to aloe you should not use it. But what jumped out at me, as soon as I turned it over to see the ingredients, was aspartame. Aspartame is in certain foods and gums, and I absolute refuse to eat anything with aspartame in it, as it is a dangerous substance. It is an artificial sweetener. Now, I don't ever use flavored lubes - not that this says it is - but I certainly would NOT EVER use a lube that contains a sweetener! I am very infection prone, and I have to be careful with what I put into my body, and especially with what sort of lubes and products come in contact with my vagina. This sounds like it would be a guaranteed infection for me, not to mention aspartame is known to be dangerous. I can't understand why Lelo would include such a thing in one of their products. Really, if you just Google "aspartame", you will see things about cancer, poisoning, side affects, and all sorts of controversy about how it even could become legal in the first place. Trust me, avoid aspartame. For instance, from this link here: "According to "Sweet Deception: Why Splenda, NutraSweet and the FDA May Be Hazardous to Your Health," consumption of aspartame may lead to brain and spinal cord tumors. Additionally, aspartame may contribute to multiple sclerosis, lupus erythematosus, loss of memory, deafness, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, headache, nausea, dizziness, vertigo, fatigue and blindness. Clinical scientific research, however, does not support the claim that aspartame causes these side effects. Further, the FDA does not require a warning label on aspartame products or recognize these purported side effects." So, yes, I am really shocked this is in their lubricant, and I would not have expected it. Let this be a warning, always check ingredients lists! But..if you choose to overlook all of this, this lube is water based, so it would be "safe" to use with silicone. Really though, I wouldn't use it at all.

Personal comments

More from the Mona 2 page on the Lelo website:
"- UNIQUE CONTOURS TARGET THE G-SPOT: Deliver Pleasure Where it Counts Every Time
- 100% MORE POWER ACROSS 6 MODES: Enhanced Motors Take Pleasure to a Peak
- NOW FULLY WATERPROOF FOR VERSATILE USE: Enjoy in the Bath or Shower and Clean Easily
- RECHARGEABLE, WHISPER-QUIET & TRAVEL-READY: Fully-lockable with Discreet, Satisfying Vibrations
- BODY-SAFE & COMFORTABLE: Smoothest FDA-approved Silicone with Soft-touch Coating
- UNRIVALED QUALITY & ASSURANCE: 1-Year LELO Warranty for Complete Peace of Mind"

Now...I really have to dispute some of this. The shape IS decent for targeting the g-spot...but I don't think, at this point, that it is worth over $100. Oh, and if THIS is 100% more powerful than the original Mona (remember, this one is the Mona 2) then I would NEVER be interested in buying the first one. Also, it is not whisper quiet. If you are in a quiet room, or a quiet house, there is a possibility that this could be heard through a door. One more issue that I was going to have with this was the fact that it doesn't seem to have a locking mechanism, so that it won't start vibrating if the buttons are pressed accidentally during travel or storage. HOWEVER, I had to hunt for that info and came to find that if you hold the - and + buttons then it will lock. I shouldn't have to hunt that information, it should be presented to me with the product.

Experience

This toy provides decent g-spot simulation, but I'm not sure that makes it worth the price. The vibrations are a bit weak for sufficient clitoral stimulation, which I don't really love about it. I like any toy I have to be able to provide vibrations strong enough for good clitoral stimulation. It this can do that, but I have much cheaper, stronger, silicone toys that work even better. I end up getting frustrated with this and using my Ako instead. I have never tried the original Mona, which this is allegedly more powerful than, but I would definitely not be interested in buying that one at all if it is weaker than this and I think that this one could be stronger.
Follow-up commentary
I've started to like this significantly more! It turns out that if you take your time with this toy, you can actually have a lot of fun with it. It's become my go-to toy, between this and my PicoBong Ako. Those are the only two things I use right now, and this has been getting more use than the Ako because this toy is rechargeable, so no need to waste batteries! In fact, this toy even got me to the point of female ejaculation, which something that only my ex-boyfriend ever got me to. I almost didn't think it had, but..yeah, it definitely had! So now, this is a toy I would definitely recommend.

Excellent review (why on earth someone would vote this 'not useful' is beyond me). And aspartame in a lube? That's terrible!
  • Contributor: Nymeria
Linking to what seems to be a natural health website for the aspartame is kind of dodgy. To be honest, it's better to link to actual scientific researches (scholar.google.com links to everything published that's officially scientific).

But otherwise, pretty good review, I hadn't even looked on the packaging of the lube, as I tend to go for the lube I always use.
