The Little Sperm Thingy That Couldn't

Buy this if you want to wear this toy out in public and you are sensitive to vaginal vibrations. Otherwise, it's really not worth it.
Published:
Pros
Quiet, easy to use.
Cons
Downright weird design, maybe not strong enough for vaginal use.

Use

This little purple bullet looks, as another reviewer pointed out, creepily like a giant sperm. Its main use is to insert it vaginally, then use a remote to cycle through 7 different speeds and patterns. It could also be used for clitoral stimulation, or anywhere you like vibration, except for the anus (no flare).

I bought this toy with the intention of wearing it out in public and handing the remote to my partner. While it's certainly quiet, I'm not sure the vibrations really deliver... but more on that below.

Material / Texture

The Amante is made of silicone over a plastic waterproof shell, and its remote is made of plastic in a matching color. It's very smooth, which helps with insertion, but doesn't do much for me once it's inside. A silicone tail stays outside for easy removal. Like my users, I was nervous that the tail would break - it certainly has a lot of give when I pulled on it - but I looked closely for evidence of fraying and it doesn't seem to be damaged after test-run removals.
It has a bit of an odd smell. Not totally unpleasant, but still plastic and artificial. My guess is that the company who makes it mixed something in to cover up an even worse smell. In general, I don't mind since I don't plan on holding this toy around my nose very often. It was only noticeable because I went looking for it (or smelling for it, I suppose.)
This toy is a bit on the thick side. I had a bit of trouble getting it in the first time around - you definitely need to lube up a little. It's also quite rigid which wasn't much help. However, once it was in I could barely feel it... which is exactly where my problems started.

Design / Shape / Size

I guess there are only so many possible designs for a bullet, but really this one is fairly awful. I went for the lilac one, which is truly an adorable color, precisely because I knew I could never put anything so sperm-like as the white one inside of me.
Apart from that, the way the batteries are put inside the bullet is rather nifty. The top slides off in a very space-pod fashion, and the resistance the toy gave made me confident that it wouldn't happen just sliding it in and out.
The remote is pretty basic. There's an on/off button, and a mode button that cycles through 7 speeds and patterns. I'd have preferred some sort of screen that shows you (or the person holding the remote) what speed the toy is currently on, but that doesn't seem to be a common feature for this sort of toy. Ease aside though, this toy is small but rather thick, and users who aren't used to something that big might feel a bit intimidated. It's not that bad overall though. This might not make a good first toy, but maybe it could be a good second or third one?
Being small it would be easy to travel with this toy, but you would probably need extra batteries and lube in addition to the Amante and its remote. Personally, I'll be sticking to a plain old vibrator.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The whole bullet vibrates, but the strongest vibrations seem to come from the top half where the batteries go in and out. I tried it out inserted both ways and didn't feel much difference, but that may be just me. I preferred the first 3 settings, which were just straight vibrations in varying intensities. Other than that, there are pulsating as well as building buzzes so this toy could probably fit any preference.
The remote is simple, and my only recommendation would be a viewer screen to let you know what setting it's on, especially since I'd imagine most users want someone else to be controlling it.
I haven't tested the Amante in water yet but the casing looks quite solid and I definitely trust it.
Once inside me, the toy was nearly silent. This is exactly what I was looking for - a quiet toy for partner play in public places, like parties (lots of p's in that sentence). Unfortunately, the vibrations didn't really give me the effect I was looking for.
I first tried this out inserted vaginally while playing clitorally with a vibrator. The vibrator overwhelmed this little guy, and I barely noticed the vaginal vibrations. After, I tested each setting out I found I wasn't really that turned on, let alone squirming like I'd hoped for. I didn't need this toy to make me come, just make me have to bite my lip when my partner is playing with the buttons at a party. Sadly, I'm not sure I would even notice him changing it if there was a loud speaker in the room or if I had even one drink in me. This is probably a personal thing - I get off better from clitoral stimulation than vaginal - but I'm still very disappointed. I'm not sure this would turn me on any more than a furtive butt squeeze would.

Care and Maintenance

My Amante has already started picking up lint - ew! Luckily, it's made of silicone and waterproof, so it's easy to clean. I suppose I'll have to keep it in it's box though, which is a bit of a let-down since I am not a fan of the box at all.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The toy comes in a box with cardboard inserts inside to keep the toy and remote in place. It also arrived with batteries - bonus! I didn't know this was the case and went out and bought a 2-pack of the proper batteries... and that alone was $5. Ouch!
The packaging has lots of instructions inside, but being too smart for my own good I didn't read them of course. As for the box itself, I felt rather like I had purchased a new electronic toothbrush. I guess it's good to be subtle, but I prefer something a little more elegant and sexy than a white background with photos of water shooting everywhere.
    • Good for storage
    • Recyclable
    • Very informative

Personal comments

I am pretty sad that this isn't doing it for me. I suppose it would work well for another person with a more sensitive vagina. I've been playing with the idea of wearing it next to my clitoris, but it's a bit bulky for that in addition to the fact that it's a bit louder when not in place inside the vagina. I don't want to use it for bedroom play either. Oh well... I suppose I'll test it out this weekend and see if it's worth the money.

I'm sorry you didn't love this! I am left a bit confused though. So what exactly about the design is awful to you? That it looks like a sperm?

I was also confused by this: "The vibrator overwhelmed this little guy, and I barely noticed the vaginal vibrations." Since you said that the vibrations were not strong enough for you, I wondered what you meant.

~LaUr3n~ what I meant was, while using this toy I also pulled out my vibrator, so the overwhelming vibrations I was referring to came from the vibrator, not the Amante. I may has well have not been using the Amante.
Also, yeah, I noticed the sperm look before I bought it but I didn't think it would bother me... but honestly, once I saw this thing in person it was all I could think about!
