Live Sex Show is just that: an hour long performance, starring some legends in the porn industry, filmed in front of an audience of 200 attending the 2010 Masturbate-a-Thon in San Francisco. The film offers the viewer a unique and entertaining experience that is different than mainstream porn. The actors feel authentic and the hand-held camera gives the film a voyeuristic quality, as if you are watching real people have sex, which is exactly what you are doing. The actors are curvy, natural women and hairy men, many with piercings and tattoos. And the sex is more than just the usual vanilla man on woman. There are six sexual performances, including a single masturbation scene, two hetero scenes, two woman on woman encounters, and finally a gang bang all women orgy. And although this film does offer a little bit of everything, including an interracial scene, some kink and queer porn, the content may not be for everybody.

Kimberlee Cline sets the tone for the film by offering up a seductive striptease before lying down and masturbating. The camera offers close-ups as she strokes her vagina and finger fucks, and you hear Kimberlee moan as she pleasures herself. The scene is short, less than five minutes, but she is sexy and very comfortable in her skin, and the audience eats it up. This quick performance was an appetizer to whet the audience’s appetite for more to come.

Jolene Parton and Peter Devries kiss and she quickly moves atop him. She tenderly gives him a blow job and then they switch, with him giving oral. He penetrates her, both while lying down and from behind. The two move fluidly from position to position, and seem in synch. It feels like you are watching a regular couple having sex, with no kink, and no noise. These two are very quiet. She sucks his cock and he comes in her mouth, which is a nice change from the usual cum shots on the face. The scene ends with the two kissing. It was a nice change to see real bodies but there was nothing that stood out in this performance.

The camera focuses on April Flores, who is masturbating for the camera. The Matador enters wearing a black mask and gloves, and we sense that a story is about to be told. She immediately gives him a blow job. He moves to the couch and while she continues the blow job, he rips her fishnet stockings to expose her ass. She climbs on top of him, and after a very brief PIV encounter, she returns to sucking cock. He gives her oral but this scene is mainly about him. He finishes with a cum shot to the face. This scene was our least favorite performance; it felt awkward and not something we could connect to.

Tina Horn bends over and Roger Wood slaps her ass until her cheeks turn pink. Roger grabs a flogger and continues teasing. Tina goes to her knees, Roger puts a strap-on on, and from here he dominates while Tina happily obliges his every command. Rough sex ensues, with ass slapping, breast fondling, hair pulling, and violent thrusting. After a long encounter, sweat rolls off their bodies, and the two embrace, having obviously enjoyed every minute of it. The sounds, motions and overall feel of this scene are realistic, and if you’re into kink and transgender actors (Roger Wood), this scene is for you. The passion is quite obvious.

The final twosome features Jiz Lee and Nina Hartley, and the two are very interactive both with each other and the audience, more so than any of the other actors. At times Nina talks too much, giving a “how to” tutorial on how to pleasure a woman and her history with it. Jiz Lee is charming and has a delightful personality, and Nina is happy to give her whatever she wants. She begins by fingering Jiz but quickly glides her whole fist in, which is quite impressive. Nina briefly offers her a Hitachi Magic Wand but quickly takes it away for hands only. After Jiz comes multiple times, the two switch positions as Jiz is eager to pleasure Nina. Nina uses the vibrator too as Jiz finger fucks her, and Nina quickly comes, and the two embrace. Although the scene starts off like a classroom lesson, it ends as a fun, playful session.

At the end of the movie, the actors bring Courtney Trouble on stage and show their gratitude for making this film. All the women move in, with one blindfolding Courtney, another using a strap on and offering it in her mouth while Nina and Jiz pleasure her below. The scene is quick and ends with Courtney squirting all over the ladies. Unfortunately the camera work is poor and for much of the scene you can’t see Courtney, you can only hear her and are left to wonder what is actually going on under there.

The six performances are all the DVD has to offer and the video is about an hour in length. The scenes are short and well paced and the viewer does not get bored. The lighting tends to be poor as the spotlight creates harsh shadowing, and the camera work at times shaky, but that is somewhat expected of a live performance. In fact, the moving camera adds to the voyeuristic quality of the film. Although we appreciate the original concept of a live sex show and the individual performances, queer porn is not something we watch much, and we admit we missed a storyline. This DVD is definitely for a particular audience.

While I appreciate what Courtney Trouble created for the queer porn genre, it doesn't really appeal to us and there hasn't been a desire to watch the film again. It's worth considering if you have an interest in queer porn.
