Cosmo's truth or dare - adult game discontinued by Hearst - review by Squidget

The purpose of this game is for couples or romantic partners to loosen up, have some fun, and create some interesting scenarios for foreplay. It takes the pressure off of players to come up with creative dares or thoughtful truths. It's also fun for finding out what one enjoys so that the "dares" can be used again and again as foreplay.

The game includes instructions, though they are a little unclear. The instructions are located on the inner flap of the magnetic box. They state that you simply lay out the cards and take turns asking one another the classic question, "Truth or Dare?" I suppose you can just play until you can't take it anymore and have to abandon the cards to pounce on your partner. If one tried to play through all 120 of the cards in one sitting, it would be a long night...and day...and possibly another night. I'm exaggerating, of course, but this game can definitely span a few nights. The good news is that this means you can play through several times and never pick up the same card twice!

The game comes in a hot pink square box, featuring "Truth or Dare" in big, bold, black lettering. Cosmo's Truth or Dare definitely gives off playful, sexy vibes from the packaging alone. I was impressed. The box reminds me of what hardcover books are bound with. It seems durable, though it looks like the edges can fray a bit with continued opening/closing of the box.



The flap on the box is magnetic, which thankfully means no lost cards!



The cards themselves are located in another flap with a clear plastic "window." There are 120 large cards and seem to be well-made; if wet, I bet you could simply wipe off the card with little to no damage done. They come in different shades of pink and purple--I'm not sure if the colors correspond to different truths/dares or if it's just an aesthetic option.

Sometimes one may have to skip a card or improvise. Some cards require you to use food items, objects, etc. from around the house that not everyone may keep handy. Maybe one could make that into a game itself: for every card that cannot be followed through, an alternative "punishment" must be dealt!

Sometimes, the cards can make you feel a bit silly. One card--the dare was something along the lines of "Strip down and pose as if you were shooting an erotic photo shoot"-- made us bust up laughing. We're kind of a silly, fun couple though, so that works for us in the sack. If you're into more serious foreplay, though, it may be a bit of a turn-off.
