Athena - double ended dildo by Luxotiq - review by Tuesday

This is the most luxurious toy in my entire collection. Athena's design is simple, yet so effective. It's a gorgeous toy that comes in sumptuous packaging. It would make a fantastic present and doesn't even require wrapping.

Its two ends both feel wonderful and will make your G-spot sing. Its weight makes it effective as an aid to kegel exercises.

It's made of breakage resistant Pyrex glass, so it's phthalate free, latex free, hypoallergenic, and body safe.

It's suitable for temperature play. Just warm it in water or cool it in a bowl of ice water. It will warm up quickly once it's inside you. Even though I don't like coldness, Athena warms so quickly once inserted that any brief initial coldness doesn't bother me.

This glass dildo is nine inches long and weighs a pound. The larger end is 4 3/4 inches in circumference. The smaller end has a circumference of 4 inches. It's a light pink color that is transparent enough to see through.

The color is actually a little more orange than the photo on this site shows. I can't look at it without thinking of the clear orange-pink nail polish I used to wear as a child. But there is nothing child-like about Athena.

There is an elegant "L" engraved on the bottom of the larger end.

Athena is absolutely perfectly constructed. There is not a bubble, nor the slightest indentation, groove or mark of any kind, except for the "L."

The two ends are different sizes and give slightly different sensations. Each end serves both for pleasure and as a handle.

Each end is a good size. Both work well for G-spot stimulation. The smaller end feels just as good as the larger end, much to my surprise. It's like the Pure Wand in this respect, although Athena is much easier to use.

The instructions suggest washing Athena with anti-bacterial soap and water. It's glass and therefore nonporous, so it won't harbor bacteria. If you want to sterilize it, Luxotiq recommends that you wash it in a 10% bleach solution. They specifically warn against cleaning it in a dishwasher. Treat it like fine jewelry. The instruction card suggests drying it with the satin cloth provided, a cloth exactly like those used for cleaning eyeglasses.

Any lubricant is safe to use with Athena, but it's smooth and slick enough that you may well not need any.

The box it comes with is so nice, you'll probably want to store it in the box. I almost always toss boxes toys come in aside, even nice boxes, but this one has won me over.

Athena's packaging is exceptional. It comes is a sturdily constructed pink and white box, secured with white ribbon. The word Luxotiq appears on the top in elegant script. When the box is opened, Athena is revealed, nestled in white satin. Under the satin, Styrofoam padding on the bottom and sides prevents Athena from moving around.

Also included is a pink cloth for polishing Athena. Wipe off all fingerprints and let Athena shine.

A small card gives Luxotiq's URL along with cleaning instructions.

I cannot open the box for Athena or look at her without feeling like I've been wrapped in a bubble of complete luxury. It's almost as though I live in a bigger, cleaner house, perhaps with servants, when I'm in her presence - or that it doesn't matter that I don't. Gazing at Athena gives me an unexplainable burst of happiness.

It doesn't hurt that she feels so good either.
