Athena - double ended dildo discontinued by Luxotiq - review by Zombirella

Athena by Luxotiq is an elegant, curved, double ended, glass dildo. Athena is great for g-spotting whether you like a lot of girth or not so much, with two ends this can work for practically anyone. The intended use of this glass "Goddess" is for vaginal penetration. I don't recommend it, but you could, if using caution, use this anally but be sure to keep a handle on it at all times. As with any glass toy, you will want to use caution when thrusting as to not bruise the inside of your vagina!
Being that both ends are very different in girth, this glass wand could work for any user and would be a great introduction to glass as it doesn't have any texture(s).

Athena is great to use alone or with a careful partner.

I wouldn't exactly say this is discreet. While it isn't phallic in appearance, one could take a good guess at what it is. Due to the length and weight of Athena, she isn't a purse toy but could be tossed in a suitcase or overnight bag.

Athena is made of Pyrex glass (a brand name for borosilicate glass) making it a 10 on Eden's safety scale. This means she is hypoallergenic, non-porous, latex and phthalates free. This type of glass is different from your ordinary kitchen drinking glasses; it is way more solid/durable and won't crush like a drinking glass can from little pressure. In fact, it takes a lot to break these toys. Some people are intimidated by glass but these are safe to use. It could break if you dropped it from a good height onto a hard surface but it will break off in chunks, not shatter into a million pieces. As long as you take care of your glass and look over, not use it if you see a chip, then you have no worries.

Athena isn't realistic looking and doesn't feel realistic. It feels like hard, firm, cool, sleek, smooth glass. There is no texture at all to this, just smooth, rounded off glass. This makes if perfect for any user. The smooth glass makes for easy, comfortable insertion.

Glass is great for temperature play and one of the reasons people enjoy it so much. There are different ways to heat or cool your glass but to be on the safe side I am only going to recommend submersing it into a sink or bowl of hot or cold water.

Athena is elegantly shaped with a slight curve making either end idea for g-spot stimulation. The rounded, smooth ends are great for a broader area to be stimulated and aren't painful like some toys with a pointed end may be.

With glass there can be tiny variations in size. But mine was pretty true to the measurements on the product page. Those are:

I have a good number of glass wands, all with different textures but I didn't have a single smooth one and that's when I decided to save up to get Athena. It just looked nice on the product page and the deep blue color is so beautiful.

I'm a girl that doesn't like girthy toys and shy away from them. I've tried a couple but I just can't relax and I don't have any desire to "work my way up to it" so I'm really happy that this wand is double ended so people like me can own it, use it, and enjoy it!

Obviously, I prefer the smaller end. I wanted the toy for a nice, sleek, firm feeling inside while using an external vibe; that combination really is wonderful. Athena is also a good thrusting wand as long as you don't go crazy and get rough with it. You can feel the difference in size when the tip enters and tapers down into the slimmer neck portion; it's a nice stimulating feeling.

You can use any type of lubricant you wish with glass but you only need a little to go a long way. You want to be careful to not get lubricant on the part that you hold on to because that can make it harder to hold on to and have it slipping out of your hold. I hold it near the rounded opposite end but you can hold it higher up depending on how much depth in penetration you want.

The larger end isn't painful for me but it isn't one I can use to start out with. I need to be aroused, have some extra lubricant and be warmed up. I don't go over 5.5" circumference with toys, anything larger than 4.5" I have to get warmed up with external stimulation or something else. It wasn't uncomfortable to use though and it was rather pleasurable but I still like that smaller end best. The larger end is one I can relax with more when using it with my partner and letting him slowly do it. I may be weird but I just tend to relax more with him.

Both ends will stimulate your g-spot with some pressure applied, of course the larger end will cover a broader area.

Athena is a heaver than any other glass toys I own but it isn't too heavy to cause discomfort or tried hands/arms/wrists.

Athena is easy to care for, all you really need is soap and water but you can use wipes or a toy cleaner. Glass is able to be sterilized so it can be shared.

Any type of lubricant can be used with glass toys.

You can store it in the nice box it came in or a padded toy pouch. Just be sure that if it isn't a very thick pouch that you don't store it near another glass toy or something else that could bang up against it.

Athena also comes with a nice Luxotiq cleaning cloth to remove finger prints and such.

I really like this glass wand and would recommend it to anyone. The price tag is a bit high but you're getting great quality and a double ended toy.
The glass is so nice and slick and the shape and color is classy and elegant; it's just a really nice piece.
