Athena - double ended dildo by Luxotiq - review by Epiphora

Athena is a gorgeous and elegant double-ended dildo, with two different-sized ends. Both ends double as insertable and as handles, depending on which side is being used. If smooth glass winds you up, I have no doubt you will love Athena.

Made of heavy-duty Pyrex glass, Athena’s texture is immaculately seamless and smooth. This is glass at its most pure, not trying to wow anyone with crazy bumps or swirls (though I do love a good bump or swirl). Each end is nicely rounded. Athena is pretty weighty, but not unmanageable.

I believe many women would be satisfied with the size of the Athena; the small end is 1 ¼” in diameter, while the large end is 1 ½”. The entire dildo is 9 ½” long, making it longer than most dildos, but for good reason. The curved ends make wonderful handles, and manipulating the dildo is much easier because of the curves. There is a white, cursive L etched on the larger end of Athena, which looks classy rather than ostentatious.

Smoothness is the name of the game with Athena. Both ends insert painlessly, settling into my vagina nicely. Athena does not feed my texture addiction, but I can’t really fault it for that. I am, however, disappointed that it isn’t especially good at G-spot stimulation. I thought the bulbous and curved ends would make for intense G-spot stimulation, but the stimulation is only mild.

There is not much else to say about how Athena feels. It feels like a smooth glass dildo that fits very well inside the vagina. It does not feel obtrusive or strangely-shaped at all. This sort of stimulation is a bit ho-hum for me, but I know that others prefer their glass toys to be non-textured, so I can’t complain too much.

Glass is exceedingly easy to care for, and this dildo is especially trouble-free because its texture is seamless. Glass can be sterilized by boiling for a couple minutes, wiping with a 10% bleach solution, or by riding in the top rack of your dishwasher without soap. Glass is compatible with all types of lube.

Athena comes in a white and pink box with “Luxotiq” written in cursive on top. There are two ribbons that can be tied together to hold the box closed. Inside the box, Athena rests in a bed of pink satin, and comes with what appears to be a cloth for polishing. There are no instructions, and to my dismay, only a white business card that reads “Luxotiq” and “Sold only as a novelty.”

This box is very unassuming, with nothing to distinguish it as what it truly is. It looks like a jewelry box, so it would fit in nicely on a nightstand or dresser. It also makes a wonderful and classy gift box.

Although I probably will not be using Athena often, because of its lack of G-spot stimulation and lack of texture, I can whole-heartedly recommend this dildo for anyone who appreciates smooth glass. It’s really a gorgeous piece of glass, beautifully shaped and very user-friendly.
