My G-Spot Says "Thank You!"

The g-spot tip is absolutely amazing and would suit both beginners who are curious about g-spot toys and more advanced toy users who are looking for something different. The size is just right and the material is safe, easy to clean, and so smooth! It's definitely one in my 'beside favorites' toy box.
-Double ended; two dildos in one
-Amazing for finding & stimulating g-spot
-High quality glass

extremely useful review

The Amethyst is a double-ended dildo made by SSA Glass. It is small and non-intimidating looking and would be great for a woman who is still trying to find her g-spot or for an experienced user who is interested in firm, rigid material like glass. The curved end is more phallic looking with a bulbous tip and non-textured shaft while the other end is a non-angled row of bulbs. Both ends are pleasant internally but the angled end is especially great for g-spot use.

I would recommend a different material for partner play because glass is rigid and unforgiving. There is potential for internal bruising if your partner doesn't know to be very gentle with their thrusting. Advice for first time glass users: Don't get too crazy! Try going slowly at first with solo use until you get a feel for it.

For temperature play: Amazing! Glass is the perfect material. Heat it up in a glass of warm water or stick it in a cup of cold water to play with the temperature. Amethyst is very cold whenever you first grab it for play. If you find cold glass up in your junk very uncomfortable (I am thinking cold speculum whenever that happens), you can run it under some warm water to adjust it closer to body temperature.

Amethyst can also be used anally. The 'straight and bulbed' end's shape is reminiscent of anal beads and the curved end could be used for p-spot stimulation. There is no flared base on Amethyst so take some care while playing.

I purchased Amethyst in pink.

Material / Texture

Amethyst is made of Borosilicate (otherwise known as Pyrex) glass and is extremely sturdy. If you drop it, it won't break as easily as weaker types of glass. It certainly will not break inside you if you're a person who is worried about that. Check for cracks or breaks if you do drop it and take care not to drop it, but if you make a mistake it probably won't be the end of the world (or dildo). Pyrex does not shatter into a million pieces like when you break a cheap glass dish, it shatters into large chunks. Borosilicate is very high quality glass. But, it is still glass and can break.

Glass has no funky smell or taste to it. It is taste-free and scentless and will continue to stay that way due to the material's complete lack of porosity. This also means that it can be easily sanitized when sharing with partners.

Glass is like heaven to those who love firm toys. It may be suited towards advanced users, but beginners can also enjoy Amethyst if they're a bit mindful.

The texture of Amethyst is extremely smooth. The bulbed end will add some sensation that can be felt (and boy, it feels nice) but it is not a heavily textured toy.

Design / Shape / Size

The design is great. Double ended: 2 different dildos and two different sensations in one. The curved end is excellent for g-spot thrusting. The size great for beginners and the rigidity of glass makes it feel larger than it would be if it were made out of a softer material like silicone. It is smooth to insert and doesn't require much lube like with a silicone toy. I think that if you're going for g-spot stimulation, the size of the bulbed tip is just right and that the smaller shaft won't make a difference. The ridged end is definitely much more filling.

I think that though the design is pretty, with the shape it would be easy for guests to figure out that it is indeed a dildo. The Amethyst comes in a flimsy velvety feeling red pouch and I would not recommend that for travel because it might get bumped around during the trip. I think that it would be great for travel if you can put it in a sturdier pouch with padding! I find the texture of velvet disgusting so I thought I would dislike the pouch, but it felt a lot less gaudy than I imagined.

Size comparison to a disposable razor.

I think the most appealing part of this toy is the g-spotting tip. If you're unsure of where your g-spot is, this would be the perfect tool to find it with. Your body will thank you! I would absolutely recommend this for someone who is looking for their g-spot or someone more experienced who just wants a nice g-spot toy and loves glass. The bend and shape of the tip were amazing internally.

The only part I dislike is that I wish it were larger or had a more graduated flare. I love toys that are filling all over as well as g-spot stimulation and the curved g-spot tip didn't provide both. I do like the other end for feeling full internally so you can always switch it up!

Care and Maintenance

I clean my Amethyst after each use by washing it off with antibacterial soap in warm water and drying it off with a microfiber towel. If you're sharing the toy with partners, the best way to sterilize is to either throw it in the dishwasher or boil.

I store my Amethyst in the red, velvety drawstring pouch it came with. The pouch is thin and rather flimsy but I find it just fine for every day storage.

Glass is great because any type of lube is compatible with it. Oil based, water based, silicone based: whatever you've got, it will be just fine with the material.

Personal comments

I LOVE this toy! The g-spot end works amazingly for me and it's my favorite g-spot toy at the moment. I find that I use the bulbous and ridged end more often because I love the texture and how much more filling it feels. I would feel good about recommending Amethyst to a friend because I just love it! This was my first Pyrex dildo purchase and I liked the material so much that I'm hooked and looking for new glass toys to buy. I loved Pyrex and knew how sturdy it was from buying glass tobacco pipes but I love it in sex toys as well. This is GREAT for a newbie to glass and I just love it a lot.
Follow-up commentary
Amethyst is still good to me. I still like the texture on the bulbed end and I still think it's a great choice when looking to try out a firmer material.

Awesome review, grrl. Though why you are comparing to things like razors when you, too, could have the honor of using a bottle of iced tea/lemonade is beyond me.

Great review! I'm glad this worked for you & I'm glad you like glass, my favorite material. I don't find these styles comfortable, but every time I read another satisfied person's review, I get the urge to try one again; I feel like I'm missing out on all the fun!
