Nature's Answer to the Pure Wand

The Fling is a gorgeous wooden G-spotter that's easy to use, both solo and with a partner. It provides the same intense internal sensations as the Njoy Pure Wand, but is lighter, more travel-friendly, and easier to use for long periods of time. I'd highly recommend it for G-spot explorers and eco-sex connoisseurs alike.

Use

The NobEssence Fling is a wooden G-spotter featuring a bulbous head and a wide base with finger holes. Because its base is significantly wider than its midsection, the Fling could also be used to reach and stroke the P-spot, though it has a fairly large diameter (1 3/4") so it would be most useful to an advanced anal player.

Because the Fling is made of wood, it's practically light as air, making it a good choice for someone who travels with their sex toys or likes to take toys with them to play parties, etc.

Wood is a very firm material, so I would typically warn against thrusting too vigorously with it incase you accidentally hurt your cervix, but the Fling is short enough that I haven't had this problem very often, and only in certain positions that shorten the length of my vagina.

Material / Texture

I ordered the Fling in what EdenFantasys calls "Burgundy," which turned out to be a dark red wood called Padauk (according to the box it came in). Padauk looks burgundy most of the time, but when held up to light, it flashes bright red. It's a beautiful wood with lovely grains and whorls embedded in it. Every NobEssence piece is unique because every piece of wood is unique, and because all of their toys are hand-carved.

The Fling has a very faint wood smell that I can only detect when I hold it right up to my nose.

Wood is a very firm material, ideal for intense G-spotting in the same way that glass and steel are. Beginners to G-spot play may want to start with a curved, less girthy, silicone dildo, just to confirm that they like the sensation, and if they find themselves craving more pressure and more fullness, the Fling could be a great upgrade.

The Fling is totally smooth all the way along its entire surface, except for the little NobEssence logo that's carved into the space right above the finger holes. This toy creates its intense G-spot sensations with its shape, not its texture (unlike some other G-spot-targeting toys that use ridges or bumps to stroke the spot).

NobEssence uses a wood finish called Lubrosity, which is body-safe, nonporous, and protects the toy from harboring any bacteria. It ensures that these wooden toys never splinter, and never suffer from being washed with gentle soap and water.

Design / Shape / Size

The Fling has a fantastic design for G-spotting. Much like another G-spot titan of the sex toy industry, the Njoy Pure Wand, the Fling does its magic via a large, round bulb that strokes the spot with every thrust. It's very firm, so it can provide unrelenting pressure for those of us who need that.

The Fling's bulb curves slightly downwards at the tip, and this allows it to hit my "deep spot" (or anterior/posterior fornices) when I thrust it very deeply. I have to be gentle when doing this, so I don't hit my cervix and hurt myself, but it usually feels great.

The Fling's finger holes fit my fingers and my boyfriend's, though people with larger hands might end up just gripping the base instead of using the holes. I wish the holes were angled differently, since I'd prefer to put my fingers through them from above, rather than from below, but it's not a big deal — just a preference thing.

The bulb of the Fling has a diameter of 1 3/4" at its widest point. Normally, this would be too big for me, especially with such a firm material, but when properly lubed, the Fling slides right into me. It's sometimes a little painful at the start, which is why I recommend using a warm-up toy first if you have a wimpy vagina like I do. It also helps to pay attention to the curve of the bulb and try to slide it in at an angle that works with its curve.

The Fling's relatively small, so you could wrap it up in a scarf or a padded bag and tuck it into your purse easily. I think it looks dildo-esque and isn't the most discreet toy in the world, but it won't make a metal detector go off, so it makes a great travel-friendly alternative to the Pure Wand.

Performance

When I first tried the Fling, I accidentally used it upside-down, because I thought it was meant to be inserted with the tip curving up at the end to hit the G-spot. It felt okay, but mostly, I was underwhelmed. Then I read some reviews of it here on EF and realized that it's actually meant to be inserted with the bulb's curved tip pointing DOWN, so that the broader, rounded surface of the bulb rubs against the G-spot. I immediately noticed a huge difference in the results I was getting. In fact, the intense and immediate G-spot sensations easily rivaled the famous Pure Wand!

The toy is easy to use, since it's light, wieldy, and has comfortable finger holes. I can thrust it very quickly, as well as rock it in small motions against my G-spot, and my wrist never feels strained or tired (unlike with the heavy steel Pure Wand, which even Njoy's president admits will give you carpal tunnel if you use it too vigorously for too long).

I had my boyfriend try out the Fling on me while performing oral sex on me, and we both loved it for that purpose. He says it's the easiest to hold of any toy we've tried on me in that way, including the Lelo Mona, Lelo Ella, Pure Wand, Amethyst, Tantus Adam O2, and Tantus Echo. It also takes so little concentration to use that he was able to give me amazing clitoral and G-spot pleasure at the same time, without straining himself in any way. This will definitely be our go-to toy for oral now.

Care and Maintenance

Wood is slightly more complicated to take care of than something like glass or steel, but only because you can't boil it to sanitize it. If you want a more thorough cleaning than simple soap and water can offer, you can spray on a 10% bleach solution, leave it on until it has almost dried, and then rinse it off and dry off the toy with a towel or washcloth.

NobEssence's Lubrosity finish allows it to be used with any kind of lube - water-, silicone-, or oil-based are all fine. But because the toy is so smooth to the touch, you may not even need lube, especially if you're used to taking larger toys.

I've been storing my Fling in the elegant box it came in, but it's a bit bulky to stuff into my sex toy drawers, so I might try to find a little drawstring bag for it instead.

Packaging

My Fling arrived in a grey and brown box that slides apart like a drawer, to show the Fling tucked under two elastic bands that hold it in place. It's quite an elegant presentation, so if you want to gift a toy to someone right out of the original packaging, NobEssence is a good choice for that.

The box has a sticker on the end of it which identifies the name of the toy and the type of wood it's made out of. This is handy if you want to look up the wood and learn more about its origins and properties.

The box can be used for storage, but may be too bulky for some. I wish that NobEssence had included a storage bag as well.

There's no brochure or pamphlet included. I think it would be nice to have a little booklet containing information about NobEssence's other toys, their ethical mandates, the origins of the woods, etc. I guess they're so committed to eco-friendliness that they don't want to use any more paper than they need to.

Follow-up commentary
Honestly, I don't use my Fling all that much, because its large diameter coupled with the hardness of the wood makes it so that I always have to warm up and ease into it. However, it remains one of my all-time favorite G-spotters.
