'Cause every time I see your bubbly face, I get the tingles in a silly place

If you have a shallow G-spot and enjoy moderate vibrations built into a high quality rechargeable toy, the Fun Factory Bubbles is your guy. Bubbles is also waterproof, which makes it ideal for some adult shower or bath time fun. Petite yet girthy, Bubbles fills you up without being overwhelming, but the buzzier vibrations didn’t quite do it for me.

Use

The Bubbles is a cute little vibe, shaped like four bubbles stacked on top of each other (mine is baby blue). Rechargeable and waterproof, it is made specifically for G spot stimulation. It can also be used externally, for stimulation of the clitoral area or other erogenous zones. It is quite short and doesn’t have a flared base (or even a base that is easy to keep a good grib on) so it is not recommended for anal use alone or with a partner. Because it’s waterproof, it is the perfect toy to bring with you in the shower, bath, or anywhere else you plan to get wet.

Material / Texture

The Minivibe Bubbles by Fun Factory is made of 100% silicone. Have I told you recently how much I love silicone? Silicone is hygenic and completely non-porous, which means it won’t harbor bacteria. It’s also hypo-allergenic, which means you don’t have to worry about having any skin reactions like you might with some sex toy materials. Silicone is durable, soft, and totally safe. It warms up to body temperature quickly, and carries vibrations nicely (although not quite well enough to make this particular toy a G-spot success; more on that later).

Not only is silicone a dream sex toy material, but Fun Factory’s silicone is especially wonderful. It is firm yet squishy with a nice amount of give. And, oh man, it feels really nice. The surface is deliciously smooth, completely seamless, and velvety soft. I have spent more time than I’d like to admit just holding Bubbles, stroking its surface, and gently squeezing it. Rubbing the soft silicone against my skin and running my fingers up and down its bulges, or gripping it like a stress ball, and turning its vibrations up and down. Honestly, it got a bit weird... but suffice it to say, this toy feels like quality. Mine didn’t have any smell or taste. The only downside is this luxurious material is that it is a lint magnet.

Design / Shape / Size

Bubbles is just so cute! I love the design from an aesthetic standpoint. The Bubbles is small (only 5 1/4 inches long, with about 3 1/2 inches insertable) but fairly girthy (1 5/8 inches in diameter). Due to it’s girth, I wouldn’t classify this as a beginner toy. I’m used to penetration, but always need to use a good amount of lubrication before insertion. The bubbles give a nice “popping” sensation when inserted, but the Bubbles isn’t the best for thrusting due to its short handle.

It has a curved G-spot tip, and the motor boasts a solid range of vibration levels and pulsation patterns. The control panel is located right above the plastic base. It is easy to operate, although the placement means that only the top three bubbles are insertable.

Personally, I didn’t find the vibrations deep enough to give me a G-spot orgasm, but I enjoyed the feeling of the Bubbles internally. In use, I often wished the motor was higher up, perhaps in the bubble that seemed to be hitting my G-spot. Instead, the motor is located lower, and although the vibrations travel, they weren’t quite strong enough in the tip to get me off. I felt them mostly in the vaginal entrance, which felt good, but left me wanting more. I had better success using it as an external vibrator. I positioned it between my legs, with the curve gently cupping my vulva. While I was taking a shower, I clenched it between my legs, and it felt wonderful. However, I wish it worked better for me as a G-spot vibrator.

Since Bubbles is small, it is easy to hide in a drawer, or under a pillow. I wouldn’t call it discreet though; if someone finds it, they’ll know exactly what it is.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The minivibe has multiple vibration levels, and two different functions. You operate the vibrations by using the two buttons located on the bubble closest to the handle. There are two buttons, a larger button with a plus symbol, and a smaller one with a minus symbol.

In order to turn Bubbles on, press and hold the plus button. Hold it to turn the vibrations up. The vibrations start from a very low, barely perceptible thrum to pretty powerful buzzzzzz. You can access the vibration patterns once you are on the highest setting, by pressing the plus button again. In order to scroll through the patterns, press and hold the '+' button. There are three levels of ‘pulsation’ in increasing speeds, and one ‘wave’ pattern. To go back to steady vibrations, press the '-' button again. In order to turn Bubbles off, hold the '-' button until vibrations cease.

The vibrations are quite strong at the higher levels. However, I personally find them to be pretty buzzy. They were not deep or rumbly like I expected, and weren’t enough to internally get me off. Part of the problem is that the motor is not located in the tip, so I feel the vibrations mostly in the vaginal entrance. While pleasant, it hasn’t given me a G-spot orgasm yet.

It is virtually silent at lower levels of vibration, but on high, it can probably be heard through covers, but not through a closed door. It performs excellently underwater, and I’ve used it in the shower and bath with no problems.

Bubbles is part of Fun Factory’s Minivibe Click N’ Charge system, and has a nifty magnetic connector which is used for charging. In order to charge, attach the magnetic connector to the Fun Factory logo at the base of the toy.

You’ll know it’s charging if it glows red. When it’s fully charged, the light will turn off. I find that Bubbles is a bit finicky about connectivity, since the FUN logo on the charger needs to be perfectly lined up to the one on the base. I have to balance it perfectly in order to maintain a connection.

Care and Maintenance

Bubbles is super easy to care for. You can wash it with regular soap and water, or use your favorite toy cleaner. Make sure to rinse it completely before use. Do not boil or put in the dishwasher, since it could damage the motor. For sterilization purposes, or if you want to share with a non-fluid bonded partner, you can easily wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution.

Silicone toys don’t play well with silicone lubes, so use a water-based lubricant with this toy. You’ll also want to store it separately from other silicone toys. Silicone is quite the lint magnet, so I always rinse it off before internal use.

Packaging

Minivibe Bubbles comes packaged in a sturdy box, with a small plastic window through which you can see the toy. The other side has a picture of one of the other toys in the Minivibe line, and opens up magnetically to reveal another window and lots of information on the sides. If the packaging has teased you enough, open up the top, pull out the plastic insert, and open the clamshell to get to your toy. You’ll find detailed instructions on how to operate the functions, charge, and care for Bubbles. The magnetic charger comes in a separate box.

You’ll also find a small sample of Fun Factory Toyfluid lubricant.

Holy cow, that’s a lot of big words!

So what is in this stuff?*

Aqua: this tells you it’s a water-based lube, so you can use it with any silicone toy.
Glycerin: a common lubricant ingredient; Glycerin is used to improve smoothness, lubricate, and is a humectant (aka it keeps things moist). It may promote yeast infections in some people.
Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride: has conditioning and antistatic properties, often used in hair products.
Hydroxyethylcellulose: a gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose.
Citric Acid: a natural preservative.
Phenoxyethanol: another preservative, with some concern for skin irritation.
Ethylhexylglycerin: a weak preservative with skin conditioning properties.

Experience

All in all, I do like the Bubbles. It is completely adorable, well-designed, waterproof, body safe, and the silicone is soft and smooth. I just don't love it as much as I expected to. It just doesn't quite work for me as a G-spot vibrator. I think it is because the vibrations aren't deep enough and they aren't located in the part that hits my G-spot. It works fine as a general clitoral vibrator, although the vibrations aren't pinpoint at all, so it doesn't give me powerful orgasms. Also, it hasn't knocked any of my clit faves off their pedestals. I still like the fact that I can easily take it into the shower, and I think it's a fabulous toy, but I probably won't be using it that often.
