Dona shave gel - shaving gel by System JO - review by KrissyNovacaine

It was designed for shaving genital areas, but I found it fantastic for shaving all over. Shave gel can be used externally. It's not recommended to put products on any mucus membranes like labia minora. It washes off easily once you are done with it. It doesn't leave any odd tastes.

As for aphrodisiac properties, I found the goji berry fragrance relaxing rather than stimulating. I think it could just be a personal preference as for sexy smells.

As with all products, test a small area of skin before use to make sure you don't have any allergic reactions.

It feels very slick when you first pour it out in your hand. The first time I poured, I ended up with way more than I intended. When applied, it doesn't really lather up a lot. It sits on your skin a lot like sunscreen before you massage it in. It is a little runny before application, and a little goes a long way. I used about the size of a nickle for one leg. (I am 5'10" and all leg for reference).

I ordered the goji berry. The smell is very subtle from the bottle. It has a slightly sweet berry smell, but it is so mild it is hard to identify. It definitely wasn't at all overpowering. The aroma became a little stronger when applied to warm skin with a little bit of water, but my shampoo smells more than the shave gel.

The fragrance basically disappeared once I washed the gel off.

I appreciated the light fragrance because I am very sensitive to perfumes. This product did not irritate me at all. (The smell was so faint I accidentally put my nose in it trying to figure it out!)

I found it a relaxing fragrance rather than a sexy fragrance, so as for its aphrodisiac properties; I don't really think so.

I have extremely sensitive skin, so shaving normally irritates my skin a lot. I found a lot of those symptoms weren't there after using this product. Also, I shave about 3 times a week on average.


Armpits: I noticed that I was able to get a much closer shave than normal. I also only had to go over the area once instead of twice to get everything. Afterwards, it didn't feel as irritated as it does right after a shave.

Legs: I didn't find much of a difference in how it felt, but I did notice that my shave time was reduced. It was easier to glide over an area.

Crotch: OK, so I was blown away. First, my shave time here was cut in about half. Second, my shave was super close; like the closest shave I have ever had, which created a downside. I nicked myself a lot. It was nothing serious, but something I had to remember when using this product. Also, it stayed in place. I have fibromyalgia, so standing in the shower and shaving just doesn't work for me. So I shave during a bath. Other shaving products I have used have always washed off at the most minor splash of water. This one didn't! It stayed in place until I really rinsed it off. After drying myself off I felt my skin and it was the softest it had ever been!

24 hours after shave:
Normally I get a lot of irritation and bumps after shaving, armpits and crotch especially. After 24 hours, I have no new areas of irritation. The skin of my pits and crotch still feel so soft, but there was no noticeable difference on my legs.

48 hours after shave:
No itchiness, and no red bumps. My skin on my underarms and genital area is still super soft and my legs are smoother than they normally are by this point.

By day three, I have very mild bumps, but nothing like I used to get.

The product ships from Eden in a plan brown box. It is packaged in a plastic bag in case of spills.

The actual container is a sturdy plastic bottle. Under the cap, there was a seal that I had to remove. I appreciated the extra step in making sure there are no spills.

The lid is a pop top which I found useful when using the product.

The label does have the "Shave Gel" and "an aphrodisiac infused ritual" on it, but they are very small. Not completely discreet, but also not a huge sign either.

As I have mentioned, the shave gel promises to have aphrodisiac properties, but I didn't notice anything and my partners didn't act any differently after I used the gel.

I have tried about 3 different personal shaving products and none of them have performed anything like the Dona Shave gel. This product has both of my most important features. It makes shaving easier and it helps with razor burn.
