POS EOS

Evolution of Smooth's Everyday Hand Lotion, available in three varieties, comes in a small travel-friendly bottle that fits easily in a pocket or purse. EOS's products are not tested on animals and contain mostly natural ingredients. Sadly, the scents are quite strong and people with scent sensitivities might want to stay away from this... far, far away.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The Everyday Hand Lotion is thick, silky, texture-free and very similar to other thick lotions. Because of its thickness, it does not run down skin. It dispenses from the bottle with ease and does not feel sticky or greasy after it has absorbed into the skin. If you apply a large amount of the lotion, it will leave skin a bit sticky for a few minutes until absorbed. However, applying a small amount will result in faster absorption and less stickiness.

Taste / Aroma

The Cucumber Melon scent smells exactly like any other cucumber melon scented item I've ever smelled. It doesn't really smell chemically, but the scent is rather strong. If you are sensitive to smells, you might want to stay away from this one. Like the rate of absorption versus stickiness, the strength of the scent will depend on how much of the product is applied. When I used a large glob, the scent was overwhelming and only started to dissipate after an hour (after that time, the scent was still there, just fainter). Using a smaller dab will result in a slightly less potent smell that fades quicker, but it is still discernible (and headache inducing for those of us with scent sensitivities).

This product is meant for external use only, do not ingest. I didn't taste this, neither should you.

Performance

The Everyday Hand Lotion performed just like any other hand lotion/creme I've ever used: pop the top, squeeze some on the skin, rub into hands/elbows and allow to absorb. Though, out of all the lotions/cremes I've ever used, this is one of the few that has ever actually fully absorbed into my skin. However, one hand-washing will remove most of the product and warrant another application.

Packaging

The packaging for EOS's Everyday Hand Lotion is very simple and discreet. The Cucumber Melon scent comes in a green disc-shaped bottle that holds 1.5 oz. The bottle is small and fits right in the palm of my hand (measures in at less than 4 inches long, less than an inch wide). It will fit into a pocket or purse very easily. On the front is a clear sticker stating that it is 97% natural and paraben-free. On the back is a small piece of white paper folded in half and covered in a clear sticker; you can peel this piece up and read a brief paragraph about the product in three languages (including English). You can completely remove this piece if you wish. Underneath that is a clear sticker listing the ingredients. A word of warning on the flip top - mine was a little tough to open, especially with long nails, so be careful or you'll rip a nail (which I did before cutting them all off).

Experience

I've always been interested in trying this product, but I've never been able to find it locally. Though it is rather expensive here, the price didn't deter me since I'm always on the lookout for new hand lotions. After giving this a try, I honestly wished I had stayed away from it.

I had really wanted to try the unscented version, but I picked up a bottle on a Thursday sale for bath and body products and the Cucumber Melon and Berry were the only ones available (and I hate berry scented items!). I am somewhat scent sensitive, but unless something is horrendously scented or extremely strong, most lotions only give me headaches the first time I use them and then nothing after. Not so with this EOS Everyday Hand Lotion. It gave me a mild headache the first time I tried it (I had only used a very small amount that time) and I didn't expect it to after that because I usually get used to the smell of something after the first try. The second time I used it, I used a bit more of the product because it didn't really make my hands all that soft, and the scent nearly killed me. I've tried using small amounts, but the scent always gives me a headache... and using that small amount is never enough for my skin.

I don't always have very dry hands, but it seemed that no matter how much of the lotion I used (a little or a lot), it didn't really completely soften my skin. It was nice that it did fully absorb into my skin, but it left the tops of my hands a bit rough and scaly. Frankly, for a third of the price, I get twice the amount of product with Dove NutriSkin lotion, which leaves my skin velvety soft and smells good to boot!

I didn't care for this lotion at all! And if you're at all sensitive to scents, I would stay away from this (unless you wish to try the unscented version). I have this on right now (only used a tiny dab), and the smell has given me a nasty headache and I can't wait to wash it off. I definitely don't think this is worth the asking price here or anywhere else.
Follow-up commentary
I've had this for about a week and no matter how little of it I use, it always gives me the nastiest headache. I've passed this on to my mother because I simply can't use it.
