This Little Light of Mine...

This was a fun experience, and I think I will look into other massage candles in the future as a result. Will I be getting this one again in the future? Probably not. It's too expensive for a one-time use and I would really like a stronger aroma to offset the burnt smell all candles put off. My candle burned evenly but yours may not, so you may get even less out of your one use than I did.

Use

This candle melts down into warm massage oil, which you can use on yourself or a partner. This could be used for sensual purposes or just for relaxation.

Instructions and safety tips:
- Trim the wick down to .5cm and remove any debris before lighting the candle.
- Burn on a heat-resistant surface, and don't burn the whole candle at once.
- Don't eat the contents. This product isn't edible, and if you're looking for something that is there are edible massage oils out there that you should use instead. I will definitely not be tasting this product for this review!
- Extinguish before pouring out the oil. Even if you had kinky wax play thoughts like I did.

If you're looking for a massage candle that can be used on multiple occasions, this one probably isn't going to work out for you and you should look for a larger one. This one is only almost two inches across, and around half an inch tall.

Here it is in its full packaging next to some old keys.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When in solid form, the wax is softer than some other candles I have. It's easily marked up, even from just the wick pressing against it. It's smooth to the touch.

In liquid form, it starts off thin when freshly melted and becomes thick, creamy, and greasy as it cools. The smell is a lot stronger on than in the candle. I rubbed some into my hand and could definitely smell it strongly while typing. Unfortunately, the nice coconut-vanilla scent also smelled a bit like something burnt when the wax was melted. It absorbs quickly but leaves the area feeling very oily. You have to really rub it in, and then it still feels coated in something. I wouldn't recommend getting this stuff on your face, but it makes for a decent massage anywhere else. Since I don't like feeling greasy, I will be showering quickly as I was able to cover a surprising amount of flesh before running out of oil.

Unfortunately, it's really hard to get off. I had to use dishwashing soap and really scrub to get it off my hands.

Taste / Aroma

I definitely could smell it as soon as I freed it from its little shield of cardboard. While the scent wasn't strong, it was there. The candle I got was the coconut/vanilla flavor, and it smelled like an equal mix between the two with neither overpowering the other. It was stronger after peeling off the protective sticker, but still not as strong as other scented candles I've had that you could smell from a good foot away at least.

Performance

I lit the candle at 10:54 PM. The flame was very low, and the wax started melting around the middle first, spreading outwards in a tiny circle, with a few tiny bubbles forming in the oil. It didn't put off much heat, and the smell didn't get any stronger once it was lit.

11:08 PM: The pool of oil was spreading almost to the edge of the side where the wick curved down towards it. The scent got a little stronger, but still nothing room-filling.

11:30 PM: The oil pool evened out, but was still closer to the edge on one side than the other. I turned on the fan since my room was hot and the flame went crazy. Don't do that!

Around midnight, the oil pool was even all the way around. There was only a small strip of unmelted wax around it and the bottom of the tin and wick were visible.
At 12:10 AM I used the whole container. So that gives it a burn time of a little over an hour.

All in all, it burned a lot more evenly than I expected based off sktb0007's great review.

Packaging

The candle is inside a little cardboard sleeve, with the instructions on the inside in multiple languages. The candle itself is in a little metal tin with a sticker over the wax. The sticker was very sticky and hard to get off.

Outer cardboard front.

Back of outer cardboard.

Candle with protective sticker.

The naked, unused candle!

The packaging is bright and cute as well as discreet at first glance. The coconut/vanilla scent comes in hot pink cardboard. While there is nothing sexual about the packaging, someone will find sex toys if they look up the PicoBong name which is on the packaging, so you might want to think about that if you're thinking about buying this for someone ultra-conservative and computer-savvy. Just saying!

Since the product is shipped in solid form, it does not leak.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense

Personal comments

Ingredients:
Glycine soja (soy) wax, butyrosperum parkii (shea butter), prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernal oil, perfume (aldehydec-18, milk lactone, ethyl vanillin, decalactone).

Be careful when picking up the little tin, and always hold the part that sticks out. The metal gets pretty hot!

Experience

I think I'm suddenly addicted to pouring warm wax over my skin. Good lord, that was fun. I was able to give myself a very nice, sticky foot massage with this candle and my feet really needed it. I made a bit of a mess, but it was easily cleaned off surfaces once dry. My hands didn't share quite the same fate, but oh well.
Follow-up commentary
"I still don't like it" is misleading. I didn't dislike this candle to begin with, but I didn't like it either. I still feel completely neutral about it.
This isn't the sort of item that really needs a follow-up review as it's not something you get more than one use out of.
I still don't think it's that good of a deal, even if the scent was nice enough and the small packaging was convenient for a single use. I would rather buy a big candle and re-use it.
