Sensuous - oil by Kingman - review by Dawn (Lilac Distraction)

I swear this bottle is full of magic.

I really love this massage oil. I feel like my search is over. I was tired of products that had horrible smells that lasted forever, were too expensive, or that sucked horribly for massages. For the low price, I wasn't expecting much at all, but I was incredibly surprised by how well this oil smelled, and worked for massages, and overall skincare.
Great price, amazing glide, smells wonderful, all-natural, can be used for other applications.
Doesn't come in a larger size!

While this product is marketed as a massage oil, it's really so much more than that. Yes, you can give awesome massages with it and it's amazing for that. This oil can also be used as a bath oil, skin moisturizing oil, tanning oil . . . you can even put this in your hair as a hot oil treatment! The only thing you shouldn't use it for is a lube. Oil-based products are not latex safe.

For massages, it provides a silky, smooth glide without sticky or oily residue. Pour a small amount in your bath for smooth moisturized skin when you get out. (Just make sure to be careful. It can get slippery.) Skin feeling dry? Apply this to legs, feet, elbows, or anywhere else you could use some intense moisture. Want a sun-kissed glow? Smooth this on before a tan. If your hair is feeling dry, soak the container in warm water, apply to hair, and then wash away. With the small price and variety of uses, everyone needs some of this massage oil.

The oil is packed with a long list of awesome ingredients:

Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Avocado Oil, Myristate Propionate, Jojoba Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Actiphyte of Rose Hip, Ginseng, Hawaiian White Ginger, Juniper Berry Fragrance, Evening Primrose, Jasmine, Sun Flower Petals, Rosemary, Lavender, Fragrance, and Pheromones.

The only ones you might not recognize are Myristate Propionate and Isopropyl Myristate. These are both emollients which provide a silky, smooth feel without being sticky. They're commonly found in many cosmetics on the market and are perfectly safe for use.

If you have severe nut allergies, you may want to avoid this product due to the high concentration of nut oils in it. If you have highly sensitive skin, this oil may not irritate you because of the lack of artificial fragrances, but it's always a good idea to do a patch test. Also, if you're prone to breakouts, make sure to wash this off after use, as it may clog your pores.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This oil is a lot like baby oil in texture and viscosity. It's thin, but not watery like other "oils" on the market. It's less velvety that some oils I have tried and offers a smoother glide with a slight amount of resistance. It doesn't feel overly oily, greasy, or sticky as long as you don't apply too much at one time. The best way to figure out how much you need is to start with a little at a time (a dime to nickel sized amount) and work your way up from there. The click-open container allows for the right amount to be dispersed without the oil running or dripping anywhere. When rubbed into the skin, the oil stays where you want it.

Taste / Aroma

The bottle suggests that the product smells of Passion Flower with Ginseng and Pheromones. I was expecting some sort of crisp floral-like scent. I was really surprised by the fragrance. It's very nutty, sort of vanilla-like, and soft. It's not overly sweet, though. It smells a lot like the KamaSutra Sweet Almond massage oil. I liked this a lot more than what I thought it would smell like. The scent it light, as well. It noticeable during use and just after use, but it fades away and won't leave you smelling like it for too long. If you choose to wash this oil off, the scent goes right along with it.

Now it's time for my personal rant on pheromone products. Pheromones are found naturally in every person. They're secreted by your sweat glands and in places like your underarms and genitals. They're not something you can consciously smell. Ever wonder why you find your lover ultra sexy when they've been working out or get slightly sweaty? This is why. One specific "pheromone" scent added to these kinds of products isn't going to work with everyone. This is why we have chemistry with some people and not others that we find physically attractive. Pheromones in these products have more of a placebo effect that anything.
    • Light smell
    • Smells good

With this oil, you'll only need about a dime to quarter-sized about to do someone's back, a little less for other parts of the body, and a little more for other areas of the body. The 4.5 oz. container is well worth the money and should last you quite a while with regular use for massages, or other applications. With such a small price, it's something that easily replaced when it runs out.

This stuff is my favorite thing out there for massages. It doesn't last quite as long as high-grade, professional massage products do, but it certainly works for sensual massage. It stays slick for about 30 minutes with continuous massage. After the massage, it absorbs into the skin without leaving behind a greasy or oily feeling. You may not feel the need to wash it off unless you use too much. As a body oil, it absorbs into the skin quickly, seeing as you don't need as much, leaving it soft and healthy looking. If you do choose to wash it off, a little soap and water should take care of it. Plain water may not totally do the trick. Toy and body wipes also work well.

If you spill this oil, make sure to clean it up quickly. It may stain delicate fabrics or cause floors to become slick. If this happens, throw whatever you spilled it on with a cloth, or wipe it up with a rag and appropriate cleaner for the surface.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting

I really like that this package doesn't scream "sexy massage oil!" because of the classy design, name, and look of the package. It's something you can leave just about anywhere without raising any eyebrows.

I have put this stuff to the ultimate test and can guarantee you that the bottle does not leak. I was transporting it to my lover's place where I was staying for the weekend. It did not leak in the slightest bit even though it was shuffled around in the bottom of my backpack for the entire weekend.
    • Does not leak
    • Travel friendly
    • Would make a nice gift

I'm really glad I got this. At first, I was put off by the low price of it and I didn't expect much from it. After hearing how everyone else was crazy over it, I decided to sacrifice a few dollars to see what all the buzz was about. I'm glad I did. No more buying expensive oils just to throw them out.
Follow-up commentary
A little of this stuff certainly goes a long way. I'm really glad I got this and I plan to replace the bottle when this one is empty. I use this for a bath oil, as well as a massage oil, and it's helped to keep my skin really soft and moisturized in the slightly chilly, dry air we've been having. I can proudly say that the bottle has not leaked any of the times I've traveled with it, either.
