Maximus - lubricant discontinued by Bodywise Limited - review by T&A1987

Maximus is a fantastic water based lubricant. Not only is it usable with nearly every sort of toy, but it leaves scant residue and is thick enough to outlast an equal amount of cheaper lube. The only downside is the price, $17.99, certainly expensive, but worth its weight in gold.

As mentioned, this is a water-based lubricant compatible with nearly every type of sex toy, regardless of material and the type of toy. A quick application and a sleeve of any material will be slick, slippery and smooth and a plug, probe, vibrator, dildo, or any other insertion toy will slip in far easier with a liberal amount of Maximus. This is the only lube to use when attempting to steal the Nowhere lottery.

Toys aren’t the only application for this lube; in fact the personal applications may be better than the material. A few squirts practically eliminates the friction of handling the penis, easing and increasing the speed of stroking. The lasting power and thickness of the lube (to be discussed in subsequent paragraphs) not only aids in inserting during vaginal or anal sex, but almost makes it difficult to remain inside (almost).

Skill level is inconsequential as it solves problems of beginners and expert alike. Insertion, avoiding friction damage to toys as well as body parts during use and having a slicker sexual act are problems of every skill level, which this lube remedies. If pressed, it’s arguable that Maximus aids beginners more, simply because intermediates and experts have more knowledge to back them up, making Maximus sort of like the cheat codes for sexual activities. It’s just as useful to everyone, but beginners have a greater need.

The texture is one of Maximus’ shining aspects. Typical lubes can have many problems, but there are three specific categories, thickness, lasting time and textile sensation. In each of these categories Maximus excels, more than justifying its expense.
This lube is neither too thick, nor too thin. Unlike thinner lubes which tend to be runny and require more applications, Maximus requires a few paltry squirts for use. Maximus also avoids the failings of thicker, cheaper lubes which tend to be sticky, or leave a lasting residue. There isn’t a bit of stickiness to the lube and after use, it wears away withou notice.

Some lubes require constant application or reapplication because they wear away too quickly. Maximus has the proper thickness, which maintains its integrity longer. For all but the most lube thirty of sleeves (The Maven) a few squirts of lube will last an entire session, which is not a defined amount of time, so about 10-15 minutes.

The actual feel of the lube is difficult to describe, but the closest would be “thicker water.” It’s gelatinous, showing no hint of grittiness, runniness, stickiness, or other unpleasant sensations. After use there will be a moment greasy residue, but it wears away within five minutes.
Finally, note that the ingredients are Highly Purified Water, Propylene Glycol Cellulose Polymer, Di Sodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben. The 4 parabens may cause irritations of the skin, or worse for those with sensitive skin. Either test it on the body, or be aware of any allergies or skin conditions before use.

There is no discernible smell and while there may be a taste, I have not tested this hypothesis. Due to allergy concerns, it's probably best not to during oral.

Simply put, this lube performs spectacularly. It can be used on all manner of toys that require lube, can enhance any sexual activity from hand jobs to anal and intercourse and best of all, it’s thick and long lasting. Previously I used a cheap lube which was $2 for 4 OZ, half the size of this bottle. I usually purchased one bottle every fortnight or so, as it had to be applied and reapplied. One month into using Maximus and half the bottle still remains. Between versatility, ease of use, pleasant sensation and longevity Maximus performs admirably.

I’m ambivalent about the packaging. The lube comes in a clear plastic bottle with a pump nozzle that allows for quick and easy dispersal without risk of overflow. Label with a Roman statue, hence the name Maximus, referencing the coliseum Circus Maximus and light letters, the bottle is rather discrete. Perhaps too discrete.

At a casual glance, Maximus would appear to be a bottle of hand sanitizer, not lubricant. If left around haphazardly a visitor, child or even the user could apply the lubricant thinking it were sanitizer, which would be an annoyance at worse, embarrassing or even dangerous at worst. Once emptied and the label removed it could be an excellent container for soap, sanitizer or any other gelatinous liquid.
