The big end - butt plug discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by Cookie Monster Mike

The Big End has one primary and most basic function that it delivers on, a butt plug. But with any toy, you can always find new and exciting ways to use them. Whether you are going to use this for solo or partner play it should definitely give a filling sensation. Because of the material, it is safer for prolonged use and wear for those who love to keep a plug in for hours. As a bonus the base of this plug is fairly large, which makes it safer to use compared to plugs with small bases. The Big End is 100% water proof, meaning you can have some fun in the shower or tub and clean it effectively. Temperature play is possible with this plug since it is made of silicone meaning it will quickly warm up or cool down to your needs.

Its overall size makes it more useful for intermediate and advanced users; however advanced users might not find it as filling as larger plugs. I would not recommend to beginners just starting out, the sphincter will probably win against this plug. I love that this plug only has 4 3/4" of insertable length; this is a benefit to people who cannot take a lot of length while inserting toys. It can be used for some thrusting; just keep a good grip on the base and you can safely thrust. Using it hands free can be somewhat harder for this plug, it is very flexible at the neck and the plug does not have a suction cup.

I just love Doc Johnson's 100% Platinum Grade Silicone; it is incredibly durable and long lasting in my personal experiences. It's very safe to use for partner and anal play, however to help reduce the spread of germs and many other things, condoms are always recommended for partner play. I love the fact that this material has so many safety features, for example---"Hypo-allergenic / Latex free / Non-porous / Phthalates free". Water based lubricant is the only one you can use for this material and I highly recommend using it. If you have a good quality lubricant, very little will go very far I have experienced.

The silicone surface is very smooth to the touch with some drag to it, for example---I slowly dragged the plug over the hairs on my arm and it started pulling on them. Unfortunately this means that hair, dust and lint and easily stick to the surface, but washing before use will easily remove it all. At the widest point on the plug it is fairly firm, however the tip, neck and base are very flexible and make it comfortable to wear. After many uses and washing this plug, the material still has no noticeable odors that are retained on the surface. The material is safe to be used in the dishwasher (top rack) and can be boiled for 3 minutes to fully disinfect it.

I've included a couple of images below for size measurements and a comparison to my LG phone. Overall I love this design of the plug, for me it has the perfect amount of gradual flare that builds up slowly to the widest part. Then once you make it over, the neck is nice and thin at just under 1", I found this very comfortable. The base is incredibly flexible, firm and safe all at the same time which is quite the bonus. Before I bought this I saw the picture and thought to myself, "This base looks very uncomfortable to sit down with", boy was I wrong. It is quite the opposite, the base nests nicely between your cheeks and with it being flexible, it somewhat molds to your body's shape. Depending on how you sit down, this can be very comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Being more of an advanced user in anal play, I bought this plug not for stretching purposes, but for more comfort. It delivers on this purpose, with little lube and some work I can easily and comfortably have this plug inside me. Walking around, sitting down, having a shower and many more situations and each one it was enjoyable to use this plug. Some advanced and most experts in anal play may find this plug too small, in some cases it may easily fall out. For my use, this is a perfect plug for comfort, long term wear and it is easy to use just about anywhere. I would say you could easily take it travelling because of its size; however it is not discreet in any way so keep it out of sight.

The best thing about the Doc Johnson Big End butt plug is that it works while being a safe product at the same time. It performs great, little lube is needed to get this thing inside of you and out again. I would have to say it performs a whole lot better than my previous jelly plug that was very firm. Again this plug is more for the intermediate and advanced users out there because of its sheer size and thickness. Even intermediate users will find this plug as a possible challenge upon the first couple of uses. Remember to be patient, use lube, stop when you feel pain and slowly work your way to inserting this. Know your limits and don't push yourself too hard to get this plug in.

One of the greatest things about this product can also be its downfall, in my opinion it's the material it's made up of. The reason why this is a downfall is because when used with water based lube, the plug is very slippery which can mean the plug being pushed out by your muscles. This did happen to me a couple of times but only when I was masturbating, as I came all my muscles naturally tightened up, this forced the plug out of me. This all depends how you are positioned, for example---If you are standing up, let’s say in the shower and you’re not using your free hand to keep the plug inside, it can come out. I have found that sitting down in a certain position keeps the plug inside of me without causing discomfort. Otherwise I think this plug performs greatly and is one of the most comfortable toys I have used.

Taking care of this plug is incredibly easy and requires little work, even less if you use a condom. To clean it there are many options you can use, for example---Toy wipes and cleaners can be used, warm or hot water with anti-bacterial soap, the top rack of your dishwasher and finally you can boil the plug in water for 3 minutes to fully disinfect it. As far as lubes go you only want to use water based lubes, silicone lubes are unsafe to use with this plug because they will interact and most likely cause damage to the toy.

To store this plug, feel free to use your toy box, or the packaging is comes in. However, I would keep it separated from other toys, especially ones made from different materials. Again this can cause materials to interact, cause damage, toy melting and thus making your toys unsafe for use. Using a zip lock bag works great, generally I will wrap each of my toys in paper towels that have very little fuzz to them. I have done this for years and never have had an issue with my toys being damaged.

Simple clam shell packaging is the usual for a lot of Doc Johnson brand silicone toys. PVC number 3 recyclable packaging, unfortunately in city limits where I live they only take number 1 and 2 plastic recyclables. The packaging can be re-used to store the plug; however I do not prefer this option personally. The packaging stands 10 1/2" tall and 6' wide, so if you’re thinking a stocking stuffer, think again.

I really enjoy using this plug, as I've mentioned it is very comfortable to wear and it's definitely my favorite plug so far. Doc Johnson makes great silicone products and I highly recommend you give this one a try if you can handle "The Big End". Its price is set at $24.99 when not on sale or coupons used, in my personal opinion I think it should be no more than $19.99 but regardless, I'm happy I purchased this plug. If you enjoy anal pleasure, a filling feeling and soft silicone toys then I think you will enjoy this plug.
