The Amethyst by SSA Glass is a glass double-ended dildo that features a deep curve in one end that is perfect for g-spot or p-spot stimulation. The Amethyst is a versatile dildo that can be used for g-spotting, p-spotting, temperature play, or just vaginal or anal penetration. When using a glass dildo, such as the Amethyst, caution must always be used when thrusting. Glass is a very unforgiving material that can cause internal bruising if it is thrust too hard. The Amethyst doesn't contain any batteries or internal motors so it is completely waterproof. Amethyst makes a great bathtub companion.

Amethyst is great for temperature play. Pyrex glass holds temperature well and maintains its temperature for a long period of time. You can put her in the fridge or run her under cold water to have a chilly session. Running her under warm or boiling water will provide you with a warm sensation. I would not recommend freezing the Amethyst for temperature play. We all know the scene from A Christmas Story when Flick's tongue gets stuck to a frozen pole. While the material itself has no texture to it, the Amethyst is textured on one end. The bulged end can be intense if you do not like texture. Each bulge and ridge can be felt when it is inserted and thrust. Keep in mind that texture in glass is very intense. I found the texture very interesting and pleasurable, but it could become too much if it is thrust too fast or too hard.

The Amethyst is 8 inches long in total. One side of Amethyst features a smooth shaft with a deep curve and a head on the end. The curved end is 4.5 inches in length, with 1.5 inches of that length the head. The shaft is 2.5 inches in circumference. The largest part of the head is 3.5 inches in circumference. The other side of Amethyst features three separate bulges. The bulged end is straight and 3.5 inches in length. The first bulge is 3.5 inches in circumference, the second and third bulges are 3.75 inches in circumference.

The Amethyst currently comes in four colors. It's offered in pink, purple, green, and blue. I think it's wonderful that it's offered in non-feminine colors since it can be used by males. The color selection provides options apart from traditional feminine colors.

The Amethyst makes a great g-spot dildo. With a little bit of lube, it is easily inserted using either end. The Amethyst can provide rigid stimulation and pressure to the g-spot, which most women find pleasurable. The bulged end is great for internal stimulation and exploring texture on glass dildos.

I have not yet used my Amethyst anally so I can not attest to how well it performs during anal insertion.

The Amethyst is a low maintenance dildo. Because it's glass, clean up is a breeze. You can wash Amethyst with soap and water, toy cleaner, or a 10% bleach solution. Glass dildos can also be boiled for three minutes or put on the top rack in the dishwasher (no soap!) to fully sanitize the dildo. When boiling the Amethyst, I would recommend letting it cool down slowly. This is because when glass changes temperature rapidly it can damage the glass. Pyrex glass is made to reduce stress on the glass during temperature changes, but I would still take caution with extreme temperatures.

Storing the Amethyst is slightly more difficult. Glass dildos can get chipped or scratched if not stored properly. While the Amethyst does come with a velvet pouch, it is not padded. Storing Amethyst in the velvet pouch will protect it from scratches and chips, but glass dildos should be kept in a bag with padding in case the bag is dropped. I have kept my Amethyst wrapped in bubble wrap inside of the velvet pouch to protect her. If you do not have the velvet pouch, you can wrap Amethyst in an old sock or t-shirt to provide protection and padding. The Amethyst should not be stored with other heavy toys without being wrapped and padded.

When I received my Amethyst, she came with a red, velvet pouch. Inside of the pouch, the Amethyst was wrapped in bubble wrap, which I have kept to store my Amethyst in. There were no instructions or information about the toy included. The drawstring on the pouch does not keep the pouch closed. If you were to pull the drawstring closed and turn the pouch upside down, the Amethyst will fall out. To fix this, I simply tie a knot in the drawstring to keep it closed tight. The velvet pouch is 3 inches wide and 8 inches tall. It does not take up much room in my toybox, even with the bubble wrap and Amethyst inside. The packaging is very discreet. There are no pictures or text on the pouch at all. If the pouch were left out, no one would ever know what was inside unless they also used glass toys.

I absolutely love my Amethyst. Glass is a great material if you prefer stiff and rigid toys for insertion. If you prefer soft, flexible, or pliable toys, this may not be for you. If you're new to g-spot stimulation, I would recommend this dildo. The Amethyst is also a great introduction to glass toys because it does have a smooth end as well as a textured end. You are free to experiment with both realms of glass toys.

My first time using my Amethyst, I was left disappointed. While I did enjoy trying both ends of the toy, I didn't feel much g-spot stimulation.
