MiMi Can't Handle the Pressure

You might enjoy the MiMi if you can reach orgasm with a vibrator just barely touching your clit, but if you need any amount of pressure, skip this one - it doesn't hold up.

Use

The MiMi is a rechargeable vibrator by Je Joue. It is primarily designed to stimulate the clitoris, though its shape makes it fairly versatile, so it can also be used to stimulate other external erogenous zones like nipples and the perineum.

MiMi is frequently advertised by Je Joue as being perfect for a first-time vibrator user. While I believe there are far better vibrators out there for beginners and experts alike, I can't argue with the fact that MiMi's vibrations are mild enough and its shape elegant enough to avoid intimidating a beginner.

Material / Texture

MiMi is covered completely in smooth silicone, except for the part where the buttons are, which is presumably made of hard plastic.

This particular formulation of silicone is absolutely lovely: smooth, soft, and with minimal drag. I don't normally use lube on my clitoral toys, but if I did, I don't think it would be necessary for MiMi because of how drag-less its silicone coating is.

The silicone is tasteless and has a faint plasticky smell, as silicone tends to do.

Design / Shape / Size

Above is a size comparison to show how the MiMi measures up with other well-known rechargeable clitoral vibrators. From top to bottom, the toys pictured are as follows: We-Vibe Tango, Lelo Siri, Je Joue MiMi, Leaf Spirit, Jimmyjane Form 2.

As you can see, the MiMi's size isn't much different from the typical clitoral vibrator; it's its shape that makes it a bit special. It's shaped like a flattened-out egg, so that it's wide when held horizontally and more pinpointed when held vertically. Its shape won't satisfy people who like their vibrators to be VERY broad (e.g. the Hitachi) or VERY pinpointed (e.g. the pointy end of the We-Vibe Touch), but anyone in between should be happy with this shape.

At 2" in diameter, the MiMi is probably too wide to be comfortably inserted into the vagina, though of course, that isn't what it's meant for anyway.

The MiMi is relatively discreet; it looks more like a stone from a rock garden than most people's idea of what a vibrator looks like.

There is no way to lock MiMi for travel, though (as I'll address momentarily) its buttons are so hard to push that this might not be an issue.

Functions / Performance / Controls

MiMi charges via a magnetic charger, which is actually one of the better magnetic chargers I've encountered. It clicks together firmly and doesn't have a tendency to fall off, the way Fun Factory G4 chargers and my We-Vibe Tango charger both do.

MiMi's buttons are very hard to press, especially if you're in a hurry (e.g. when you're at the brink of orgasm and need to click up to the next setting to push you over the edge). You pretty much need to use two hands - one to hold the vibe firmly, one to press the button - which makes it difficult to use MiMi in conjunction with a dildo.

MiMi has some cool patterns - escalating, pulsating, etc. - which feel nice but are nothing I haven't seen before.

It's waterproof; I've taken it in the bath and shower without issue. And as for noise, it claims to be a quiet vibrator but is audible from across a room, making it less than ideal for people with roommates and thin walls.

The vibrations this toy produces SEEMED remarkable when I tried out the toy on my hand. They seemed amazingly strong and rumbly for a rechargeable vibrator of this size. However, to my extreme disappointment, MiMi does not hold up well to pressure at ALL. In fact, I would say that MiMi loses about half or even two-thirds of its power as soon as it gets pressed gently against my clit. Needless to say, this is very frustrating, and is the main reason I don't like my MiMi nearly as much as I was expecting to.

Care and Maintenance

As with all silicone toys, MiMi is easy to care for. It can be washed with soap and water or disinfected with a bath in a 10% bleach solution. Also, like any silicone toy, MiMi should not be used with silicone-based lubes (though honestly, you don't really need to use lube with this toy).

This formulation of silicone doesn't collect nearly as much lint as some other types I've encountered, so it doesn't need to be rinsed as often.

MiMi doesn't come with a storage bag, but it can be stored in the box that it comes in, which is an elegant, sturdy, black box.

Personal comments

I bought MiMi because so many people on the EdenFantasys forums seem to be almost evangelical about how much they love their MiMi. Unfortunately, it just didn't do the trick for me.

It seems like no matter how many positive reviews, some vibes work for some people and not for others. Thanks for your insight!
